Kenji rolled his eyes at the display, then looked to Zaan. "Your turn. Where's this 'friend' of yours?" He asked, heading to the wagon.

Zaan looks about. "He was just here...we can head out now." He stands, throws a coin onto the bar and walks out without a second glance. He returns to the group's wagon, and waits for the rest of his companions.

Kenji grabs Kakashi by the scruff of the neck and hauls him into the wagon bodily. He then takes Sam over and places her at the table as well. Turning to Zaan, Kenji nods and walks to the reins, not sure where to go.

Zaan takes the reins from Kenji. "I got it. I know where we're going. Now then, I'd like to talk to you."

"Certainly, what about?" Kenji asked, amazed at his companion's sudden interest. Gazing out at the open night sky, Kenji's eyes were drawn to a few constellations before he looked back at Zaan.

Zaan looks around the sky himself, noticing constellations he's seen countless times before. "About a certain...mutual interest we might have."

"Mutual?" he pondered for a moment, debating over what he could mean. "I can help you train some more if that's what you need...?" he guessed.

Zaan shakes his head. "Actually Kenji, I was thinking more along the lines of training I could give you. If we're going to be going up against Kaven, you're all going to need it. But this isn't about the training I can give you all. This is about the training I'm offering to you personally. Kakashi and Sam...well...this isn't about them." Zaan looks to the man who has become, strangely enough, his closest companion out of the group.

Kenji nods in a glorious moment of understanding. "If we went through with... that, I'd be able to keep my magic, right?" he asks, trying to keep his excitement from showing and trying not to make such a commitment so quickly.

Zaan considers a moment. Then he considers a moment more. Running his hand through his hair, he assumes a look of a man deep in thought. "Yes. You should. The more complex magics might take some time to remember or "relearn", but yes, you should." Then he chuckles. "If we find out, this would solve the debate I told you about between my associate and myself. ...And I'd win." He chuckles again and looks to Kenji for a reaction.

Zaan does something that startles Kenji completely. He lets out a full laugh, not a small chuckle as is his habit. "And I can teach you magic the likes of which you could not even dream of. And not just magic, I can teach you... well, I shouldn't reveal that until you make a commitment." Zaan looks at Kenji again, admittedly paying a bit more attention to the latter's thoughts than he normally would.

Kenji's thought process would have been clear even to someone without any telepathy. He was no longer on the fence, now that he knew he could keep some of his magic. "I'm ready when you are." he told Zaan.

Zaan stops the wagon and leads Kenji a short distance away from it. "Hmm..." He looks around, and spies a small pasture. "Perfect." He makes his way there, and begins to search his pockets for a particular item. When he finds it, he pulls a chalice from another pocket. He adds a drop from the vial to the chalice and holds it out to Kenji. "Before you take this...know this. Your life will change. For better or worse, you'll change."
