I personally think guilds should be prioritized wherever possible, because we captains shell out a lot of (for the most part) hard-earned gold to buy and maintain them - we should be getting what we paid for.
sweatdrop Sure, it's not real money we're using, but like I said, many of us worked hard to raise that gold.
While for differant reasons. I am inclined to agree with Timetripper.
Guilds should be given some more attention(priority) by the site. Not so much because of the "gold" we pay for them but because of the communities that they represent.
Many guilds are smaller versions of gaia itself in many rights. They are groups with common interests who ban together for discussion, gaming, polling whatever.
They "encourage" gaians to act in a more mature manner by giving them a portion of responsiblility and allowing them to organize there own peice of gaia.
Communication is the key to organization and the friendslist was the tool to do so. If the guilds can be upgraded in a manner so that that communication system can still exist if would be a great benifit to the idea of Guilds.
Hollow and open ended promises do not help. I believe that the friendlist button was a powerful tool and one that many did not use properly. However like many changes on Gaia. The fix was to remove liberties in order to lower site maintanence. While it does solve the problem for the moderators who had to deal with it. It in no way deals with the problem.
I think the issue of no longer rewarding pm'ing with gold is quite a statement as well. Effectively the PM is nothing more than another form of ICQ or instant messenger.
Edit: Actually I just had a thought. Perhaps instead of complaining about the removal of a gaian ability we should use this as an opportunity to try other systems of communicating with our guild members.
Theres always real e-mail? We could collect our members email addresses and contact them that way.
