Well said. There's also the imperfect Mary Sue. This Mary Sue has a flaw, but said flaw is often lame such as being afraid of spiders. This flaw almost never gets addressed as a problem & everyone is fine with the flaw, even if it's something that gets them into a lot of trouble. The author usually doesn't realize this character is a Mary Sue because she's not perfect.

I used to have a few OCs that I'm rather embarassed of now.. but at least I had the decency to keep them off the internet for the most part.
Nowaydays, I find I can have so much fun with the official characters in fanfiction and fanart that I don't need to make OCs.

hm, I don' think I ever made a mary sue - accually I rarly like a main charicyter the most and just try keeping the made up in the rpg. Its not often they accually get with someone but if they do its ushually with another made up, although in one RPG Akito randomly kissed a made up of mine o_O but no they never got together >_>

I guess you could call them fan characters, though I've never heard them referred to as such. domokun

Well then yes. A Mary Sue could be considered a fan character... I guess but not really. Because if the "Mary Sue" is completely all ficitional and not in anyway a fan character and doesn't go with some series then I would have to say no on the fan character bit. However if it is a character that is based off of a series then I would say yes for it being a fan character. There. xd

I might be able to understand that if the whole thing were real but Fushigi Yugi isn't, it's a cartoon. So yeah that is going a little too far. XD;;

I thought Fushigi Yuugi was one of the most poorly written anime/manga I've ever been exposed to. X_x;
The only reason I'd give anyone to watch it is because it's so popular.

The characterizations were very poorly done. >< She had too many "main" characters and didn't handle that well at all.
