 It took a few rings for the phone to be answered. " Hello? Oh! Lock, thank you for calling. Did Niji make it back home all right?" Mrs. Wilhelm's sweet voice asked on the other end.

✻ ✺ ✹ ✴ʆ ock ҥan✸ ✷ ✶ ✵He sat on the armchair and smiled as best he could. "Yeah, she did. Right now, she's taking a little nap." Looking over to the sleeping kitten, Lock sighed and prepared himself. "Mrs. Wilhelm, you might want to sit down."

There was a gruff noise in the background accompanied by a couple loud sniffs. Mrs. Wilhelm's own voice grew distant as she shouted over to the voice about who was on the phone, painting a lovely picture of her shouting across the room to Mr. Wilhelm, who was most likely watching TV while sitting on a plush chair. Finally, the noises settled. " Hah... I'm sorry for that. Now, what was it you wanted to tell me?"

✻ ✺ ✹ ✴ʆ ock ҥan✸ ✷ ✶ ✵Taking a deep breath, Lock delved into the story of everything that had happened. He told her of how Ethan and he had had a large fight, which then led to Ethan running off, and then the shocking news of Ethan's imprisonment. Lock continued, telling her of his and Fredrich's investigation, then of Marcus' accident. After assuring her that Marcus was going to be alright, he went on, explaining that they had detained the killer and Ethan was in the dorm at that very moment, showering and changing before they went to the hospital. Finally stopping for breath, Lock closed his eyes and rubbed his temple. "I'm so sorry, Mrs. Wilhelm. Ethan didn't want me to tell you everything, but you deserve to know. His record hasn't been tainted and he's still allowed in the school, and Miss Crawford is already on trial for murder. This is entirely my fault, so please don't get angry at Ethan for it."

" Angry? Oh, my poor boys!" Mrs. Wilhelm practically cried from the other end. You could see through her voice that she was trembling and covering her mouth in shock. You could also hear Mr. Wilhelm's repeated scowls for information. " Oh my Ethan... He's never had good luck, but this is just terrible! Oh thank you so much, Lock, you're always there when he needs someone. Oh! And what about you? How are you doing? Are you alright? You didn't get hurt, did you?" She had only asked a few of the many questions she was ready to bombard the Korean with.

✻ ✺ ✹ ✴ʆ ock ҥan✸ ✷ ✶ ✵Smiling softly, he shook his head, almost hitting himself when he remember she couldn't see him. "Yes, ma'am, I'm alright. I almost got shot by the crazy woman, but Detective Waltz got in her way and received a bullet to the arm. He's fine as well, and will be released in a day or so." Running a hand through his hair, the young Korean drifted his fingers to touch the bruise on his hip from when he fell. It wasn't as bad as it looked, and Fredrich was much worse, but it still hurt a little. "I'm about to take Ethan to the hospital to visit Marcus and Detective Waltz. Would you like to meet us there?"

" Oh my goodness!" Mrs. Wilhelm squeaked when she heard about Lock's near shooting. " We'll have to repay Detective Waltz as soon as we see him!" Her voice drifted off when she had to shout over to Mr. Wilhelm and his frustrated questions. " ...And yes, Lock, Harold and I will be there as soon as possible. Is Ethan still showering? May I talk to him?" As if on cue, the brunette was walking into the living room in well fitting jeans and an orange hoodie, rubbing a towel against his hair while whistling a tune.

✻ ✺ ✹ ✴ʆ ock ҥan✸ ✷ ✶ ✵"Yes, he's right here." Lock turned to see the man he loved so much, breathing in the familiar scent of manly man soap and feminine citrus hair product. Walking over, he held the phone away and wrapped his arms around Ethan's waist, pulling him close and kissing him passionately. After a moment, he pulled away, grinning. "Your mother wants to talk to you," said Lock, sliding his hand down to slip into one of Ethan's back pockets. "Did I buy you these? They fit very well."

"You know, I've been thinking." Ethan murmured while nonchalantly drying his hair. "If I had to go to jail - and trust me, I'm glad I don't have to - maybe my orange scent would be too overwhelming for other prisoners to attack me, y'know?" He smiled smugly to himself. "And you said oranges would never have a purpo-" His words cam to a halt as soon as he was pulled towards Lock for a kiss. He blinked at the blonde in surprise before seeing the phone. Coughing awkwardly, Ethan exchanged the towel for the phone and held it to his ear. "...H-Hello?" he asked, still dazed by the kiss. Instantly recognizing his mother's worried tone (never a good sign) he stiffened and walked over to carry on his conversation with her. "Yeah, I'm fine.... No, really! ...Yeah, Lock practically ran around the entire city to save me.... Uh, yeah I guess you could say that.... I just heard about Mark, too..... What? Now? I - ..Okay, okay! I'll see you later, Mom. Love you." Clicking the phone off, Ethan let out a sigh and turned around to face Lock. "She's probably going to spaz out as soon as she sees me and Mark." he chuckled. "She freaked out when I got a paper cut as a kid, y'know. Imagine her hearing about me behind bars." He smiled at the detective. "Speaking of which, you'll be happy to know that I now have my fingerprints done."

✻ ✺ ✹ ✴ʆ ock ҥan✸ ✷ ✶ ✵After folding the towel and leaning on the armchair again, Lock crossed his arms and raised one sculpted blond eyebrow. "Honestly, you're lucky you never got back there. I once had to wait in a jail for two weeks and almost didn't make it out with what I had left of my virginity intact." Laughing at his remark, Lock reached out and hooked his fingers in Ethan's belt loops located on his hips. He pulled Ethan closer until they were inches apart, and merely smiled at the smaller male. "You know, every second I was dealing with that crazy stalker woman, all I could think about was how I was going to keep you safe. At first, I wanted to send you away, keep you out of this world I'm stuck in, but now I see that would only bring you harm. Why didn't you tell me you attempted suicide?"

๑۩۞۩๑ ๑۩ﺴ Some shadows have more depth. ﺴ۩๑ Pulled towards Lock, Ethan expected some kind of shower of affection like he had been receiving lately - not like he was complaining. In a way he was right, he heard Lock mutter about how worried he was when he hard to deal with Lori, and Ethan was about to say something comforting when the last question hit home. 'Why didn't you tell me you attempted suicide?'
Ethan's eyes widened and his breath got caught in his throat. Suicide, what an ugly word. It pounded endlessly against his ears, his memories. "I... I... I don't know what you're talking about." he mumbled and averted his gaze.

"Fredrich told me all about how he came to the dorm to find you, in the bathtub, with your wrists slit and a good portion of blood around you. Damn it, Ethan, you should have been the one to tell me!" Lock bowed his head as his eyes welled up with tears. "I asked you to wait and have faith. You promised you would wait as long as possible for me, but...but you didn't. Why didn't you tell me, Ethan? I earned the right to know, didn't I?"

Biting his lip, Ethan narrowed his eyes sorrowfully, unable to hide the truth anymore. "I didn't tell you because I knew you'd think I didn't believe in you." Hesitantly, he reached out and put a hand to Lock's cheek, forcing eye contact, which was still hard. "I love you, Lock- No, Sang-Min. I waited every day, clinging to that promise you made me before you... left. Without you things didn't make sense, and I didn't really see a purpose in anything. I didn't even want to talk to anyone, I just let my thoughts clutter." he said with a bitter chuckle. "I remember a thought, just a random one I had. If I were to die, I'd see him again, right? I tried to shake off that thought, but it just kept coming back, y'know? Soon enough I was thinking things like, 'Heaven would have him there, wouldn't it?' or 'Maybe that's what he meant by waiting for him?' Next thing I remember, I'm in the bathroom, I want the pain to go away, and more importantly-" He risked a glance at Lock. "-I wanted to see you again."

✻ ✺ ✹ ✴ʆ ock ҥan✸ ✷ ✶ ✵Lock shakily exhaled, wrapping his arms around Ethan and tugging him closer, resting his chin on Ethan's shoulder. "Ethan, I will always come back to you. Death can't keep me away, even when it looks like there's nothing left. I'm not going to be angry with you for what you did, because I can understand why you did it. I'm only angry I didn't return in time to prevent it. For what he did to save you, I'm grateful to Fredrich, and I'll do whatever I can to repay him. But," he said, pulling Ethan away enough to look in his eyes, "you need to realize that, even if I die, I will return to you, even if it means fighting my way out of Heaven's gates. It's not worth it if you aren't by my side." Sweetly kissing his forehead, Lock held Ethan for what seemed like a century, just enjoying their closeness. "I love you, Ethan," the Korean whispered.
