Tawny laughed and went to work, rummaging through the stores and plucking out what she would need for the bread. She tossed her head, keeping the tendrils of hair out of her eyes, careful not to dislodge any. The bread would be a bit on the flat side, with little time to rise... but the necessary ingredients for a decent amount of bread was there. "You don't happen to know about how many crew members we have? I could try and make small loaves, quick to bake, a little bit of something for them. Or maybe if I overcook, they'll have leftovers, that they can come to the galley and grab if they get hungry?" she glanced over at Cosette, watching her start the stew. "Would that be permitted by the captain, you think? I don't know if hed consider it wasting stores. For that matter, I don't even know who on this ship would eat bread."
She felt herself start to tip and grabbed to the counter. "The rocking is awful. I would be seriously considering going barefoot on this ship, if I wasn't too worried about what else has been on this deck."

Cosette pondered a moment as she stired the stew. "With the new people abord I have no Idea how many mouths we have to feed just yet. So If you want to go and count you may. Other wise just take a good guess and make as much as you can. We are loaded with food supplies for now. Speaking of the captain.. I need to get his meal started."
Cosette rummaged through the stores that where currently avaliable and found the small store of fresh meat in the ice box. The meat it was true did not last long, one of the best things to have when leaving port though, besides the live stock that could be carried on board for the captains personal meals on some vessles.
She quickly set the meat to cook as she set about making the rest of the captains meal. A nice salad was prepaired as a side dish, a mug of run poured and set to the side on a tray with the rest. The meat was cooked tender and juicy, slowly flipping it on the grill between stiring the stew for the crew.
Cosette ran her fingertips through her hair as she gathered everything together. It was lacking something.. oh of course, Dessert!
The maid sighed softly and looked through the kitchen one more time. Her gaze rested on a box of fresh strawberries, they wouldnt last long during the trip, and for now would make an excelent dessert.
She pulled the strawberries from the box, a little more than a handfull leaving the rest for another meal. Washing them clean and lightly dashing them with sugar she placed them on a bowl in the tray. Taking a moment once again to stir the stew the gathered up some thick cream and whipped it into a thick airy cream and poured it into a dish near the strawberries.
"Um... Tawny? Would you mind walking with me to the capatains room? I seem to have gotten my hands rather full with the tray and I wont be able to open the doors." She asked the woman with a rather sheepish grin.

Tawny grinned at her companion. "Want me to carry it?" it looked a little heavy, and it wasn't that she doubted Cosette's stregnth (the woman was probably stronger than her), it was also that she had no clue where she was going, and it seemed like it would be a bit... awkward, to walk behind her to open doors. "Since you need to lead and everything, that way you can get the doors." She laughed lightly. "And while we're on the way, want to tell me about the captain?"

Cosette smiled as she lifted the heavy tray. "No thank you, I've got it and it isnt very far. Besides, You'll learn your way around the ship one way or another." Cosette turned and exited the kitchen. "I suppose there isnt much to say that you wont learn about him. He's a fair man, and he's the very reason Im here today. He's taught me alot during my short stay on the ship."
The maid chatted with the other woman quietly as they walked across the ship, weaving in and out of people and moving to the side quickly to avoid running into someone. Finally they stood outside the captains room. "Give it quick rap for me hon? My hands are full." She said with a laugh as she nodded to the door. "Capatain, Supper is ready if you are hungry."

Jonathan, not expecting dinner to be delivered, put down the book he was reading and stared at the door in momentary confusion. It was many months since he had a proper dinner, and now was a good time to enjoy the benefits of being Captain. "Come in," he calls out, getting up off the bed and begins to clear the table of the various maps and charts.

She followed Cosette, making idle conversation as she memorized the way. She knocked on the door, and when the voice inside called for them to enter, she pushed the door open, and stepped aside for Cosette to enter first, sneaking a curious peek at the figure clearing things off the table.

Cosette walked into the cabin and smiled as Jonathan as he cleared the table free of the maps he had been looking at for most of the day while choosing a corse.
Placing the large tray on the table cosette took a step back and folded her hands in front of her. Her smile lingered on her lips as she nodded her head. "Captain, I hope you enjoy your meal. "

"Please, come in," Jonathan said with a smile, finally managing to haphazardly clear the table and sit in the nearest chair. "What is for dinner tonight?" The captain eyed both girls for a moment, wondering if they would be his company for the meal.

There was a quick, friendly grin before Tawny waved her hands at the tray. "Our menu consists of a grilled steak, salad, and rum; Necessities to start a journey off with a hearty yo-ho." her lips twitched again, in amusement. "And if you eat it all, you may even be permitted your dessert." she gestured at the strawberries. Her words were lighthearted, belying her nervousness. This was, after all, the captain of the ship. She forced herself to relax. It wouldn't do, after all, to be a stumbling, bumbling mess. Chances of tripping would go up exponentially.

Cosette looked over at Tawny as she noted the change of her tone and stiffled a giggle as she realized that she was nervous. Well, if cosette had not prevously known Jonathan she would most likely be nervous as well...after all she didnt really know the previous captain.
With a smile to Jonathan as the tray was set on the table before him she asked. "I hope the eve finds you well."

Jonathan quirks an eye at the new girl. "If I eat it all?" he asked with a slight air of annoyance in his voice. His mood slips back into contentment with a wry smile. "My dear girl, you to realize you are talking to the master of this ship, aye?" He motions with his hand to a nearby table, "Come, sit down and enjoy the meal with me." The captain winks at Cosette and motions her to his lap. "I've reserved the best seat on the ship for you."

She choked down a laugh that was threatening to bubble as the captain invited Cosette... to sit in his lap? Men were all the same, it appeared, regardless of rank or station. She moved over to the table and lifted the food off of the tray, placing it in front of the captain with a smile, and took the tray. "Is there anything else you may need?" she could remember her way back to the kitchens, she was sure.

Cosette smiled as she sliped into his lap drapping her arms around his neck. In a different time Cosette would have flushed at his proposal, but she knew Jonathan and her heart was with him now. Her sleder body rested against his own as she slid into his lap, adjusting her skirt accordingly. "Thank you captain." she said, the smile still lingering on her lips.

Jonathan gently kicks out a nearby chair with his feet and grins to Tawny. "Just that you join me for dinner. I would love to get to know new crew members." Though he was conversing with Tawny, the captain was giving equal attention to Cosette, wrapping his arms around her waist. He gives Tawny a sly smirk as he continues, "I treat all my crew as equals, provided they perform their duties and not slip up. I assume you've been acquainted with my love here?"

Tawny let herself fall into the chair, crossing her legs and leaning back. "I have." So it wasn't that he was a pervert. She relaxed visibly as she could finally move without wobbling on the rocking floor. "I've never been on a ship before. Cosette is teaching me the ropes. So to speak." She may as well be up front, right? She watched the two of them with cool amber eyes. They were rather cute together, actually.
