Sitting up in bed, Lin was interested. After all she knew quite a number of traditions from Gaia, but very little elven traditions.
"I would like that," she replied with a smile.
She really would.

Earendil smiled and held one hand out to her, inviting her to come with him. It made his heart soar that she was so eager to learn about his ways, even though she was not an elf, and the Valar were not her creators.
"Come," he said softly, his eyes bright and warm. "You will need dark clothes."

"Dark clothes?" Lin murmured as she took his hand, "Well at least I don't lack those."
Most of her clothes were dark coloured (if they weren't black), and most of her light coloured clothes were her good clothes, the stuff she normally didn't wear unless she had to.

Earendil chuckled softly. He had noticed that a long time ago. He didn't mind; it suited her.
"Come," he said when she'd gotten her clothes ready. "Haradhel is making sure everyone has warm water to wash in, but I'm not sure how many people would be finished by now."
If all else failed, they could easily bring a basin to their room; it wasn't a bath, really, and a full bath wasn't necessary for the ritual.

Holding her clothes to her chest, she nodded as she went for the door.
"Was it really busy before?"
She meant when he bathed, she could only imagine how many people would be doing this ritual by now.

"Not particularly," Earendil replied as they headed towards the bath room. "Arahad and Elrohir were there, but I don't think Shiro and Kaito will be doing the ritual, and I'm not sure if it's a part of Aethos's culture ... I don't know if Elros and Alena will be doing it ... so that just leaves Haradhel. And it's not a full bath, so privacy isn't a big issue, really."

Lin wondered if Shiro and Kaito even knew of the ritual. She didn't know if it ever came up for Elnara, or if Elnara still celebrated any of her elvish holidays.
Heck she wondered if there were any holidays coming up back home.

When they reached the room with the baths, Haradhel was just leaving, dressed, like Earendil, in very dark clothes. She paused when she saw the two of them heading for the baths.
"Would you like me to fill a tub?" she asked them. "I had thought everyone was finished, but it's no trouble to refill one."
"Please," Earendil smiled. "Lin would like to learn about our customs."
Haradhel smiled back at him, then at Lin. "That's wonderful to hear," she murmured, turning and heading back into the bath room. "Come right in, it will only take a second."

Stepping into the bathing room, Lin could still feel the left over warmth from when other people had been using the tub.
She carefully set her clothes aside for the moment, besides she was sure she had been squishing them.

Haradhel held her hands over one of the tubs, and in an instant it was filled with water that was steaming ever so slightly.
"Just let me know when you're finished and I'll clear it up for you as well," she smiled at the two; and then she left the room and closed the door, leaving them alone.
Earendil smiled at Lin. "You can be in the tub or beside," he told her. "It depends on how much you want to wash. Myself, I took the opportunity to take a full bath, but you don't have to. It's not part of it."

It was tempting to take a full wash, but she didn't want to splash Earendil with water. Her wings tended to ruffle themselves out when wet, and she didn't need to get water everywhere.
She always had to wipe down after she was done.
"I'll be beside it," she told him.

Earendil nodded and brought up a stool so that she could kneel on it rather than bending over the edge of the tub.
"I'll hold your clothes for you," he offered, holding his hands out to take the clothes from her.

She would probably need that she realized as she handed Earendil her clothes.
"Thanks," she replied as she got onto the stool.

Earendil sat on the floor in the half-lotus position, legs crossed comfortably. "Close your eyes," he directed her softly. "Relax. Think about the past year ... things you've done, places you've gone, people you've met and known ... events that have taken place ... it's a bit like meditation, except you're remembering instead of emptying your mind."
He stopped talking then, giving Lin quiet to think and remember.

Lin closed her eyes and took a deep breath letting it out slowly. Meditation was old hat for her, but not something she came by easily, she always had to be on the move. Granted that was when she was younger, but by the time she became old enough to properly meditate though, she rarely had done it.
For her the past year had been the last leg of their trip before coming home. So much had changed, and had been done. There was of course the education of Miyuki, how much her little girl had grown. There had been of course all the people she had spent time with, and the people she met again. The excitement of getting Earendil's feather made, going back to Gaia and seeing everyone again. Of course Lin couldn't forget the most amazing thing that happened to her in the ending of the new year and that was her marriage.
Marriage! She would have never thought that years ago, hell she couldn't stand most boys when she was younger.
