Desdemona looked in amusement at the dignified headmistress curling up in a ball to sleep. "You remember that, Lilly," she said, content.

"Heehee haa..haa.ha.." Lillian muttered, and fell asleep in a wet, blood- stained, freezing, tiny, skinny, and messy ball at Desdemona's feet.

*** She was completely alone now. Master had gone out inspecting the school. For a moment Lillian hovered on the border of wanting to make another escape attempt. But it was too risky, and she was too weak to pull it off anyways. She laughed a little bit, giggling for no reason. She wasn't all there, half her mind had drifted off and left her. Whether it was the good or bad side, she didn't know. It always drifted away when it was in too much pain to take anymore. She was starting to forget things now...not things from her past, but what she was doing. She would end up on one side of the room and she never remembered walking there. It wasn't long spans, and she remembered being tortured and controlled perfectly clear, but eating she never knew. Her stomach was practically gnawing on itself, she hadn't been truly full for over a week. Even if she had eaten, she received so little food now that there was no point. She had never really been able to comprehend the true pain of hunger before. She had been hungry of course, she hadn't eaten for a couple days at one point, but still...never had she eaten so little or been so dehydrated. Her lips peeled and bled from no water, like how a bottom lip may peel in the freezing, numbing cold. Lifting a trembling hand to her face, she felt instantly how broken and bruised it was. Her nose and mouth were still smashed up for Desdemona's first day. How easy it would be to fix them if she only had a wand! She had black eyes, and the part that wasn't bruised was puffy was still red and swollen. Some of her cuts looked infected. There were open wounds and half-healed wounds covering her body. Her arms, chest, legs, thighs, feet, hands, neck, and back all showed signs of the cruciatus curse and other cuts being applied to them. Her eyelids and hands were always twitching, as well as her faulty smile. She was shaking almost always, like she was vibrating. But still she did not break. She wondered how long it would take for her to go completely mad...to lose it all. Surely, she wasn't that far away. What if she ended up in St. Mugo's for life? With no escape possible, no life of her own, locked away? She couldn't bear such a thought, not her, not Lillian, who had traveled the world, would be trapped. She was trapped now...being trapped in St. Mungo's couldn't be the life she had dreamed of. She vowed to try a bit harder..for her daughter, her sanity, and to never be trapped like this again...then she remembered she had already made a vow like this before when her husband was beating her. She kept laughing as she thought all this, her mind being at ease enough to think...but her mouth laughing until it was sore. She hoped with all her heart she wouldn't ever have to make this promise to herself again, as she continued to laugh. It wasn't just laughter though, she was crying as well. Whether she was laughing because she was crying or crying because she was laughing she wasn't sure...but she was definitely doing both. Her emotions were so confused...she was so mixed up...someone help me she thought, tears rolling down her face. Someone, anyone! She tried to speak the words but no noise came out but a rasping giggle. How tired she felt..how sore her throat was...she just wanted to sleep and never wake up.

As she approached the old griffin knocker on the door, she hesitated, her hands inches from it. She didn't know the password, no one did anymore now that these stupid rules had been enforced. Confusion and anger boiled inside her just thinking about them. She took a deep breath and her hand touched the knocker. She paused again. Did she really want to know what was in there? Gryffindors are supposed to be brave...she put a hand to her forehead and trembled slightly..get a hold of yourself Al..she thought...stop being such a wimp... She took a deep sigh, and then put an ear to the door. She couldn't bear going in there, facing what had made her mother write those decrees. She was able to hear a whimpering noise extremely faintly, but then a sudden thought struck her, and she placed an Extendable ear under the door. Bought from a famous Weasley shop, she smirked faintly as it slithered closer to the second door. Holding onto one end like a rope keeping her from falling off a cliff, she listened with all her might. The whimpering was louder now, which struck her as odd. Her mother was definitely making that noise, but her mother was always loud, strong, and could stick out anything. The noise sounded like a wounded animal now, growing slightly louder. Her mother was...crying or laughing? Al yanked back the extendable ear and shivered a bit... Was she intruding on something personal? She couldn't help but notice how hopeless sounding the cries were...happy? but so hopeless and sad... She stayed there for a moment, vowing to get help from someone she could trust, until she ran off again, half-wishing she had stayed in the common room in the first place.

Approaching the mahogany door of the headmistress' office, Desdemona found a floating paper that was attempting to enter the room, but to no avail. Reading it, Catalina confirmed what Rose was blibbering about in the Great Hall.
She opened the door to the office and stepped in.

The door was opening...the door was opening! Without pausing to think, her mind crazed, she ran at the door, trying to make a race for freedom. She was extremelt slow and was falling on her gown, and was banging into walls, but was still trying. It was Desdemona behind the open door of course, but she didn't even care or think... "Lemme OUUUttt!" She shrieked in a very high voice, trying to get onto the stairs. While she yelled, blood dribbled down her chin.

On reflex, Desdemona's arm bolted out, catching Lillian square in the neck, sending her to the floor. Enraged, she whipped out her wand and screamed, "CRUCIO!"
As her victim writhed in pain, Desdemona screeched at her, "Where are all the purebloods, Lilly? And why did Liviana skip out on her detention? It's your fault! They're defying me, and it's all your fault!"
She continued on with the curse much longer than before to sooth her fury.

Her neck throbbing, she heard the torture curse yelled once again. She was thrown up into the air first, that was always how the torture curse started. Her bones were on fire, her whole body was in agonizing pain, she was twitching and writhing and screaming all over, and she waited a minute, barely hearing the words Desdemona shouted at her.
But the pain was going on longer than it ever had, and for the first time since she had been tortured, she truly wanted to die. She wanted to pain to stop, she wanted to faint, to pass out. She couldn't see anything at all as she shut her eyes and rolled on the floor. She rolled into shattered objects, glass becoming embedded in her skin. More blood soaked the floor and continued screaming. But she wasn't just screaming now, now she was laughing. She was howling with laughter like she had heard the funniest joke in the world. She schreeched laughter, screamed it, trying to speak, but not even knowing what to say, not able to move any part of her. She just thrashed around and couldn't will herself to do anything anymore. She had once been so strong and was still sane even at the end of this, but she was truly perfect now. Ready to do masters bidding, because she had honestly no recollection of where she was, who Desdemona was, as long as she was still in this much pain. Even if she was still sane, even if she could still be healed, she didn't feel that sliver of hope. All hope was gone. All she felt was pain, and she laughed at it. She felt like she was laughing death in the face, she was so close to the next side over, where she wanted to be now..so the pain would just end..

Desdemona watched as her captive truly became her slave. She ended the curse and whispered, "Imperio," for the last time. Lillian was too far gone to be anything more than her puppet. She would have been in a better condition had she been kissed by a dementor at this rate.
"Here," she said brusquely, tossing parchment and a quill at her. "You have more decrees to write."

Lillian's eyes were still blue on the edges, but the white part of her eyes had become a reddish-pink. She couldn't even move...but then she felt clear, and she welcomed the curse this time... "I'll write two this time master..." She gurgled. Blood flew out of her mouth and landed on Desdemona's dress. She then started to cough and splutter, and she heard a huge "SNAP" when she tried to sit up. Her rib had completely snapped in two pieces now. But she couldn't feel it as badly...for she was busy twitching her fingers with a quill in between them, scratching her signature. She didn't whine or moan in agony as she pushed the two decrees towards desdemona. But her hip, or something else broke, with a huge "CRACK". She was literally falling apart.

Desdemona smirked at the constant breaking of Lilly's bones. Well, if she hadn't held out for so long, this would not have happened. It was not Desdemona's fault.

Lillian gave a tiny squeal of pain, for after Desdemona smirked, she heard another huge "POP", but she couldn't help the pain now, it was her legs popping out and being dislocated, so she couldn't even walk. Just one simple spell would heal her, but master wouldn't even perform it. Lillian just sat there though, a broken puppet on firm strings, and went back to her chuckling and giggling.
She giggled loudly for some time, until after a few more cracks and bones breaking from the extra-long torture curse, she fell asleep. Once again...she slept at master's feet.

Amelia Frances Joan
Amelia was scared. In her voice she heard her father yelling at her. To do the right thing, not to be a coward. But truly, deep inside, she knew she was. She was scared. To the point that she was shaking, but she knew this is what she had to do. Knocking loudly, so that it echoed down the corridor, then pausing and adding a quiet knock, as if to apologize she called, "ma'am?" in a quiet voice, then listened carefully. She could tell the door was magicked. And that a simple alohomora probably wouldn't work. Taking in deep breaths, she started listing what she knew. Facts kept her world together, facts would fix this.

Lillian woke up at the sound of knocking and paused. The part of her that made sense had hoped she wouldn't wake up at all...hoping to die. She didn't show this emotion on her face though, she couldn't. She couldn't frown or cry anymore, she couldn't even scream. Not only was it that her voice was so sore, but she didn't have control. A chamber in the back of her head still made sense, it was all that kept her sane. But it hoped that the body containing it would perish. Not suffer anymore, not feel. She still felt the pain that constantly consumed her, but she couldn't overcome or react to it. For the first time in her life, she had truly wanted to die. She wasn't even laughing now, just making rasping breaths, similar to the rattling breaths of a dementor's. But she wasn't taking happy memories..they were leaving her, being sucked from her, all happiness was gone. She didn't just sound hopeless anymore, there truly was no hope. It wasn't an adjective, wasn't just how she felt, it was what was. It was what existed, it was there.
The knocking ended not too long after it started. She didn't wince or twitch at any noise. It was scarier than it had been when she reacted. When she reacted it proved she was human, proved she was there, still understanding. Now she was acting like she had suffered the dementor's kiss, the only difference being that small space in her mind that still made sense. Her bones broke, her wounds bled, she could barely see, her head throbbed, but she wasn't even there. She felt the pain, she suffered more than she ever had, but it's like it was a part of her, pain wasn't what she felt, but what she was.

Desdemona froze as she her someone rap on the door. She had specifically mandated that no one come near the headmistress' office, but like most of her other decrees, someone felt the need to ignore them.
Pushing Lillian aside, she crept up to the door and opened it a crack. The hallway was devoid of anyone. It was probably some snot-nosed prankster trying to get a rise out of her. Making a noise of disgust, she turned to her hostage. "You can pay for their indiscretion!" she hissed. "Crucio!"
