on a sadder note, Nayan's sister can't afford to be a bridesmaid...so i only have my sister on my side while nayan'll have 3 guys..

if nayan does have 3 guys, i'll probably move my brother so that he's standing on my side. which means he'd be walking down the aisle like a bridesmaid with my sister

yeah! we met with the DJ & loved him! he's really nice & knows a lot. which is what we need! he even laughed when i told him about how other djs would respond to my info requests, that said my wedding is on "Wednesday June 15, 2011", with "is that on a Wednesday?" XD
so we put $200 down for that & can pay him the rest the day of in cash!

Underworld Priestess I was just price checking DNA ancestry testing, it is so expensive! Boo! yes it is. I have my family history just before the war ( civil) on my dad's side and farther back for my mom's. My great grandmother ( mom side) came off thr boats from Germany. I have the Irish and native american blood on my dad's come in. On top of it. I have a family member that links me to salem during the trials. Mathiers is the last name. I would love to do the DNA testing though

I have my dad's side through 1700, which is when the "founder" of my family came to America. I have a lot less info on my mother's side, but I never really focused on it because it's with my dad's side that I can get into the DAR. I also have the name of the Celtic tribe my family descended from. Which leaves a huge gap inbetween everything and I would love to be able to fill it. I think the DNA testing good help a little with that, and ancestry.com will even send you any pics and infor that they have on file but it's hard to picture spending $100s on all that. Although with the amount of stuff required for the DAR, it would probably balance itself out eventually.

on my dad's side, i have a 2nd cousin that has a family record/tree that was handed down by his father that dates back to at least the 1100s...i'm pretty sure they've traced it back farther though. my family shield is as simple as it gets & they say (the simpler the shield, the older the family. all it is, is the top silver with the bottom black divided by a zigzag cut. it represents the black see (over by turkey & greece) from when they were vikings...so who knows where they REALLY originated before there XD
but i can say my family played a huge part during the battle of Hastings which resulted in the family being Sir'd...but centuries later it was taken away because they sided with the wrong lords...there was even a huge castle! it's in ruins now...
1 story my grandfather always loved to tell us was of a comedic ancestor...he apparently pissed off the lord by sleeping with his daughter or something...the lord declared that "he would have his head on a platter!"...well out of sheer dumb luck he was let to live when he cut a hole in the lord's table, & served his head on a platter XD the first man to ever do that!
& do i believe it? yes i do! why? cause my brother has the same sense of humor! lol

I also find it quite humorous. I love hearing stories that were passed down through families, they are always so interesting. My family was also at the Battle of Hastings, but I don't have any interesting stories from it. Part of my family has the a fairly basic coat of arms with just a strip across it, but my direct line has a more extravagant one because of certain things that progressed over time. I actually find researching the different meanings in family coats of arms interesting.
I am so happy that all my regular tax stuff is done. I just need to take care of the quarterly for my business.
