"Do you want me to hold him?" Lore asked wincing at the near eye punch.

That wouldn't have been pleasant at all from the looks of it. Poor Garrick was not a happy camper at all it seemed.

Elnara shook her head, shifting Garrick so that he was laying in the crook of her arm once more.

"Maybe I'll just try nursing him," she murmured, looking down at the infant. "He's probably not hungry, but it might help."

She sat down in the corner chair, where Lore usually sat, and prepared to feed the child.

At long last, the day arrived that Lore and Elnara really had no choice but to return home. They made sure that they had everything packed (and this time Elnara made sure that all of her things were in her bag in a neat and orderly way, so that she wouldn't have to dig through insane amounts of things to find one thing she was looking for), and with her carrying Garrick and Lore carrying Hana once more, they were ready to set out towards the portal.

Ulrich, Elrohir and Arhen had offered to help Lore and Elnara carry the furniture that they were bringing with them, the two rocking chairs and the cradle, and though they were leading the way through the woods towards the portal, they made sure that they didn't go too fast, so that the babies wouldn't be jostled as they walked.

"Excited to be going back home?" Ulrich asked the two as they went. "It'll be different, going through the portal and ending up somewhere new ..."

"Excited... maybe a bit nervous," Lore admitted, "I'll be actually living with everyone now, and in a place we both haven't been to before."

In a home they had never seen, to appear in somewhere they had never been. There was a lot to be nervous about to be honest, he had heard of such places but never stepped foot into one.

"It's going to be so strange," Elnara agreed. "I mean ... we'll be living with everyone ... but not. In our house, it will be just the four of us, with Storm and Starr ... unless they decide to go off somewhere else like everyone else. But we're going to have to learn our way around the compound ... and find out where in Gaia we're going to be."

She laughed. "Imagine finding your way to work again and you don't even know where you're starting from," she teased Lore with a giggle.

Elrohir chuckled softly. "That would be quite a trick," he agreed in amusement. "Especially if you don't know the area very well. I suppose there will be more changes that even you realize, as well ... after all, for them it's been two weeks ... approximately, and who knows what else might have happened in that time?"

"Maybe we should suggest we all get together for dinner just to find out where everyone is and how everything has changed," Lore suggested.

They should be able to now have everyone there for dinner at one table, assuming there was a table big enough for the whole family or something for the sort.

"As for getting to work, just give me a map."

Elnara was thoughtful as she mused about Lore's idea. To have the entire family together ... if they even managed it, it would be crowded, loud, and - especially with Masako and the like - chaotic.

"Maybe just Kara and Donovan and a few of the older ones at first," she suggested to Lore softly, "until the twins are older and can handle noise and chaos a bit better ..."

Recalling Elnara's birthday party now.. that was probably a good idea.

"Good point," Lore agreed, "We'll see then."

They were almost there he could see the area that had been hidden behind or as a bush. He never could decide which was which.

As they reached the portal, Ahren set down the chair he was carrying and reached out one hand to activate it.

"Just because we can't go through," he grinned at Lore and Elnara, "doesn't mean we haven't figured out how to."

Elrohir nodded. "Except this time," he murmured softly, "we are going through ... just to put these in there." He nodded at the furniture. "By the time you found someone to carry it through for you, too much time would pass here and the weather would probably damage them."

"Which I won't allow to happen to any of my creations," Ulrich agreed. "So we go through, set it down, and get back before our families miss us."

"Besides," Ahren grinned, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, "this way we get to see a bit of your world and bug Adanedhel when he asks about it."

"No, you don't," Elrohir told his son flatly. "You'll only tempt him to pass through it. Don't even tell him about this."

Elnara giggled, watching her brother, nephew, and cousin. She was definitely going to miss them ...

"Thank you," she murmured gratefully. Then she turned to Lore. "Shall we?" she smiled - and then she took a deep breath and passed through to the other side, curious to know what she was going to find there.

Lore followed keeping a close hand on the babe slung to him. Even though he had already used a portal a few times it was something that was a bit difficult to get use to, but sure enough they ended up on the other side... of... a room.

The Door Room

In the heart of the mainhouse was the place known as the Door Room or the Room of Portals, because that was what it was in essence. It was located right within the manor, so there were no windows, for the room was created to make up for the large security defects caused by the Winters' contant use of the portals. The room was a round room with columns built into the wall separating at regular intervals around the room. Between each column was a symbol which represented a different portal like the school or the Seconds world.. or the Four Lands.

The stone floor and ceiling where etched with a compass rose filled with runes, which were put into place to keep whatever that was unwelcomed in until help could come... or... should the worse happen keep people out of the room.

In the middle of the room slept a small mist coloured cat with small fairy wings. Life was good for Lily whom out of all the pets had the least to do (well minus Soot but Soot had the intelligence of a bird at times).

Ahren was the first one through, and he moved immediately to one side and set the chair down, his eyes skimming everything in the room.

"You're sure this is a house?" he asked as his father followed after him with the second chair. "And not a palace? Aunt Elnara, I thought you left your station behind when you came here!"

Elrohir was equally impressed, though he had more of an understanding of it than his son did. "Donovan must be very wealthy in this world as well as in Arda," he murmured. "This is indeed a beautiful place."

Ulrich followed them, squeezing through with the cradle and setting it down in the middle of the room.

"Not bad," he shrugged, "but give me my forest any day."

And speaking of which ...

"We need to go right away," he told Elrohir and Ahren. "Or else everyone will wonder what's taking us so long. Come on."

And with a final wave to Elnara and Lore (though Elrohir also hugged Elnara) they were gone once more.

Once the others had gone, Elnara herself took the time to look around a bit. There were so many colours and patterns that it took even her sharp elven eyes a few moments to spot Lily Mist in the midst of it all.

"Hello, Lily Mist," she smiled at the cat. "We're back ... could you find someone to help us carry these things? And tell everyone that we're here?"

That would probably be the best ... and once things were settled they could worry about the things like what time of day it was, how long they had been gone, and where they were.

She smiled at Lore. "At least they're asleep," she murmured softly, nodding at the slings that were around them. "I have a feeling that Garrick crying especially would echo horribly in a room like this."
