"A space center? That sounds pretty cool," M.A. said with a smile. Gee, this world was so big outside her sheltered little home -- outside her mother's disaster-impacted area, outside her father's fossil talk, outside Sae's warm hugs.

She listened to Crenu talk on about contests, a tiny frown landing on her lips. Something sounded misplaced in his speech, but she couldn't pinpoint it. His question flooded her mind with thought, however. A while ago, M.A. might have vehemently denied the idea of herself being a coordinator for personal reasons. But now, alongside the fearful avoidance, there was a sense of wanting, too. When Mitsu said she could picture her as a coordinator, M.A.'s mind flashed with that memory. "I ..." She paused for a microsecond. "I was going to be a coordinator, at one time," she finished lightly, uncertain whether to frown or to smile.

Ebony saved her from saying more for now, though. When the Gengar's eyes suddenly popped up out of the table, M.A. nearly jumped a foot in the air. When she recovered a second later, she laughed. "Hey... Ebony, right?" she grinned, watching the Pokemon's antics. He was so... adorable! "Good to see ya again!" Of Mitsu's Pokemon, she'd met Ebony and Nightmare.

To tease, she attempted to steal a candy from the little batch on his hands -- but only found nothing there, Ebony having scooted neatly a few inches away. Never try to steal from a Ghost-type, M.A. mentally noted, a wide grin on her lips. "You win this time."

Mike only smiled as he saw Keegan deep in thought. No doubt already planning a strategy. He couldn't wait! But, no use getting revved up already, the battle wouldn't be for a while. If he knew Keegan (which he would like to think he did), this rain check could last a long time. With a playful hum the boy sat down. He picked Napalm up and set him in his lap as he turned to watch the remainder of the battle. "Go hon'!" He cheered. As much as he'd like Flannery to win, repeating a Gym battle was a pain in the butt. After all, Kasiya needed to get some badges, he had been ahead of her for such a long time.

"Perhaps I may visit Mossdeep some day." There was something odd in M.A.'s words, an underlying tone that he could not fully identify. Before he was able to question M.A. about his suspicions, the playful antics of Mitsu's Gengar took the spot light. Crenu did not care for this sort of behavior, nor with M.A.'s encoragement as she played along. It was a mild itch in the back of his mind, but he was not so well at holding his tongue it would seem. "It would appear that you do not have full controll over your pokemon, unless of course you've trained it to do that sort of thing." He didn't speek with any particular malice, but his facial expression did read similarly to that of a person growing bored with the disruptive games of a small child in an adult conversation. "I will admit however that your Gengar seems quite healthy, a strong pokemon if anything."

Weak or not - Ada felt a bit rattled after the Magnitude, looking as though fatigue was starting to get to her. Kasiya could also tell by the way Camerupt was moving that it was almost out of energy as well, and she knew that it was time to end this as soon as possible. When Camerupt goes down, that'll leave Torkoal, most likely, she noted mentally, wondering which of her Pokemon would be best suited to take on the tortoise. Realizing that she'd almost forgotten that Ada was still on the field, she looked around almost nervously before calling out to the Larvitar. "Okay Ada, use Rock Slide again!" she shouted. She knew Ada was tired but she had faith in the small Pokemon.

Giving a roar, Ada thrust her hands into the ground once more, sending up another slab of stone before it broke apart and came raining down on top of Camerupt yet again. Through the entire attack, her Hard Stone glimmered and sparkled as hit helped to boost her attack, but pretty much as soon as the last stone hit the earth Ada swooned and toppled, unable to continue. A bit surprised, Kasiya sighed before smiling and recalling the fainted Larvitar. "Well done, Ada," Kasiya smiled, giving the Pokeball a kiss before putting it back in its place. For some unknown reason, she then reached for Digger's Pokeball and hurled it onto the ground. Ada's image faded and Digger's lit up. "I'm counting on you, Digger!" she called out to the Sandslash, who slashed the air with his claws and took up a defensive stance, cautiously waiting to see what would happen next.

Camerupt's pained cries echoed through the gym as he was once again pelted by a shower of rocks from the Larvitar. The large Pokemon tried to shake it off, squinting through bloodshot eyes as the tiny offender collapsed, and was recalled by its trainer. Feeling a bit of relief, the Camerupt roared proudly, stamping his hooves loudly to celebrate his win. He really didn't have much left to give, and as the Sandslash was released onto the field, but he didn't hesitate to fire off a weak Flamethrower at his trainer's command. His legs trembled noticeably as the flames poured from his mouth, and Flannery silently scolded herself for pushing the creature so hard.

Jaeshan grit his teeth and held up Combusken's Pokeball, recalling her before the Thunderbolt could strike her; instead it hit the earth and fizzled out. "You've suffered enough," he said softly, clutching the Pokeball tightly to his chest. He looked up at the spot where she'd just stood, and smiled. He couldn't have asked for a better effort from her, either. "You were amazing." He clipped the Pokeball back onto his belt before holding up the third and final sphere. Jaeshan was not normally a confident person but his poise and demeanor gave the complete impression that he was. "You're a great trainer, Roxanne," he said respectfully before tossing the Pokeball onto the ground. "Now Shelgon, let's finish this!"

The dragon practically exploded out of her Pokeball, narrowing her eyes at the Rock-type before her. If she could have grinned she probably would have as she charged forward, gaining the momentum needed to attack with Headbutt.

Keegan glanced at Mike out of the corner of his eye, grinning a bit at the sight of ihs old friend practically bouncing up and down in his seat. He knew Mike well enough to know that once he had an idea in his head it was impossible to get it out again. I could battle him this afternoon, or we could wait for the beach party... But he shuddered at the latter of the two thoughts, having already decided that he was going to stay out of the sun for most of tomorrow. Being a natural redhead, his skin was ultra sensitive to the sun and he burned like a piece of bacon that had been sliced too thin.

He glanced over at Helios then, wondering if it really was such a good idea. He didn't want to subject his Pokemon to anything they couldn't handle, although he somehow trusted Mike not to go overboard if he realized he had an advantage. Maybe just a practice battle or something... he thought, closing his eyes and listening to the sounds of the battle rage on in front of him.
=====
Roxanne's usually stoic expression changed to a frown then. Having studied extensively at the local trainer's school meant she knew that a Bagon needed plenty of experience before it could evolve into Shelgon, and this one wouldn't be any different. It had started charging before she could even size it up, and there was really only one command she could issue her Nosepass.

"Harden!" The tone of her voice was a bit louder than it previously had been, but now she knew it was crunch time. She figured the Shelgon wouldn't have a problem with her Nosepass but she wasn't going to give in just like that. Nosepass closed its eyes before its body let off a metallic sheen, gaining a boost in defense just as the dragon smashed into it. Nosepass rolled back several feet before coming to a stop, looking a little shaken from the solid hit. "Rock Tomb," Roxanne then practically hissed, her fists clenched tightly at her sides. Once again raising its arms, Nosepass caused another set of rocky spires to shoot up out of the ground.

Digger wore a somewhat confident smirk as he eyed the weakened Camerupt before him. Without waiting for an order from Kasiya he sidestepped to the left, his gaze never straying from his opponent. Kasiya smiled at this; even though she'd rather have her Pokemon wait for orders it did please her to know that her Pokemon could handle things on their own. Most notably, Shocker was guilty of this trait. However, as the Sandslash glanced back at his trainer, Kasiya gave him a nod, letting him know it was OK to finish off Camerupt in whatever manner he felt was best.

Digger's spikes bristled out as he began to dash forward, running on all fours until he neared his opponent. Then, he rose up on his hind legs and reared back with one arm, his claw glowing with a bright energy as he prepared to slam his powerful Crush Claw attack into the Camerupt.

Sandslash were definitely not the fastest Pokemon on record, but to Camerupt in his tired, weakened state, he couldn't have moved faster than a sleeping Slakoth. Digger's claw landed a solid hit and it was enough to bring the large Pokemon down. Flannery recalled her Pokemon before he could fall to the ground and cause another tremor, and she slowly eyed Kasiya across the battlefield as she held up Torkoal's Pokeball. "Not bad," she called out, her tone spirited. "But you haven't won yet! Here's my ace! Let's get 'em, Torkoal!"

She sent the sphere spinning, causing it to reveal her trademark Pokemon. Torkoal squinted through the warm haze filling the gym at the Sandslash, and tilted her head. Another battle already? She heard Flannery call out an order and she nodded slowly, opening her mouth and spewing out several large globs of gunk at the Sandslash - a Sludge Bomb attack.

Shelgon felt the rock spires jab into her sides, but her thick hide did a lot to cushion the blow. She still felt its effects though and she staggered, glaring daggers at the Compass Pokemon in front of her. It was almost painful waiting for Jaeshan to give her an order. "Okay Shelgon, use your Dragonbreath!" the blonde boy called out next, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the sleeve of his shirt. He felt a lot better now that Shelgon was in control of the situation, especially as he watched her exhale the indigo flames at the Nosepass. It sure is a neat Pokemon though, Jaeshan thought, unable to stop himself form admiring Nosepass' resilience.

"Full control?" Mitsu questioned, "I'm a trainer not a tyrant." Her voice was curt and had a sharp tone to it. He'd struck a sensitive nerve within her. Sure she wasn't an expert at battling, but she did have six badges under her belt and held her own against her friends for the most part. "I trust my Pokemon enough for them to know when this sort of 'behavior' is appropriate and when it is not. Gengars by nature are pretty mischevious, and I don't intend to surpress his personailty just because I'm his trainer," she answered. Mitsu didn't care too much for his expression. He was such a serious trainer, and his words certainly reflected that as well. His compliment didn't help mend the blow either. "Thank you for the praise," she replied, her tone less threatening than before, but still held an edge to it.

Mitsu was oh-so tempted now to throw down a battle right there and then. But she wasn't going to jump the gun, or be the one who pulled the trigger either. Ebony and Ivy probably weren't in the mood to battle. Sapphire would probably be more than eager and Karri would oblige. But then again, Mitsu herself didn't quite feel like battling, but no way would she turn down and offer here. She shrugged a bit before relaxing in her chair. No need to get worked up over nothing. There were different types of people in the world and there was nothing you could do about it.

Gengar gave a big dramatic nod before turning towards Mary-Anne. He stuck his tongue out at her before swallowing another handful of candy whole. The ghost sure had a sweet tooth, one that was even greater than Mitsu's. Ebony hissed-laughed not caring a bit for the Crenu fellow's doom and gloom personality. He wasn't going to ruin his good time. Deciding that the M.A. girl was nice he shoved a few pieces of candy her way. His crimson eyes read, "I suppose I can spare a few."

"Heh, I suppose you're right." He grinned a little, Crenu knew he was getting closer to the line with every word. But this was no time for his usual course of action, he had promised to be better behaved for Ky and M.A.'s sake. "To each his, or her, own." He had to admit that battling with her seemed like an interesting idea, but didn't want to battle one of M.A.'s friends right away, and something told him he'd probably lose. Crenu was an good judge of character and that Gengar alone looked more powerful than most of his team. More the reason to challenge her, but not quite yet. "So what are your plans for fight now?" He asked the both of them.

Kilik woke up slowly, looking down below. They were now over the beach. A little too far, perhaps? "Stop, Bahamut! Land here!" he said, pointing down to the sand. Finally, he'd made it. Flying wasn't so bad if you could sleep the whole time. He held on tight as the green lizard flapped her wings and slowly descended to the ground. He felt a light jerk as she landed and he hopped off with a sigh. "Thanks Bahamut," he smiled, lifting up her PokeBall. He pet her softly, "You should rest for a bit." With that, the red laser recalled the dragon and he clipped the ball to his belt. He slipped a hand into his pocket and looked around the beach.

As usual, or at least the few times his dad brought him here, there were kids building sandcastles, people playing volleyball and girls getting their tans. Kilik seemed to stick out amongst them - he did have a rather paler complexion than the beach sticks around here. He somewhat wished that Flygon had dropped him off by the Pokemon Center. The beach was pretty hot. Kilik walked up the beach, along the stone path leading to the Center. When the electronic doors slid open, the cool air conditioning hit his face. Something then caught his eye. It looked like a group of trainers talking around a bench; two girls sitting, one boy standing. This wouldn't have been out of the ordinary, but the fact that a very purple object was amongst them did strike him as odd. It was definitely a Pokemon he had seen before. "Morty had one of those when I fought him...that's a Gengar!" he snapped his fingers and walked over to the group rather nonchalantly.

He recognized the girl with the brown hair immediately, along with the boy upon closer inspection. The girl was M.A. and the boy, Crenu. He'd met them once (M.A. twice, actually) in Azelea Town when Team Rocket decided to drop in. And he knew he had met the other girl before, but her name wouldn't come to him. "Mm..Mmmm...Miiii...Mitsu!" he clapped his hands together and laughed. "Long time no see ladies and gentleman!" Kilik slipped his hands into his pockets and walked around the bench to the back, standing in the spot between Mitsu and M.A. His eyes almost refused to make contact with Crenu's.

There was a popping noise, the telltale sound of a Pokeball opening. Elekid emerged and clambered up to Kilik's shoulder, sitting on it with a smile. "EleEle!" he cheered. He had been cooped up for so long that he was sick of it. Then he saw Ebony, squeaked and began to shiver. How scary! But if Master wasn't scared of him...he regained his composure (though still shook ever so slightly) and smiled. He wouldn't be scared...or as scared, either!
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:44 am

Mitsu merely nodded at Crenu's statement. At the very least they were on the same page. "I'm guess I'm just going to hang out here until the party tomorrow. There isn't much left for me to do today," she replied a bit more at ease. Her conversation was cut off by the entrance of a newcomer or was it an old friend? She knew she'd met him before, during that Rocket incident. She sighed, she'd felt so useless there compared to Kasiya and Mike and . . . whatever his name was. Her mood was suddenly a bit more sullen but she attempted to cover it up as to not worry M.A. or look weak to the two boys. "Kilik, right?" Mitsu asked after a long moment of thinking. She sure had forgotten a lot in her absence in Mossdeep.

The Gengar eyed the Elekid. Ah! A new target, fresh and ready for some spooking! But then again it already look terrified and something told him that now was not the time. He didn't want to upset or disappoint his trainer now, especially in the presence of Mr. Doom and Gloom. He gave a toothy grin at the Elekid, which turned out more scary than he had intended. He pushed a small pile of candy his way.

M.A. thanked the Gengar and popped a candy in her mouth. Watermelon. She didn't love candy more than the next person, but food of any type was good in her opinion.

"Mm," M.A. said in agreement with Mitsu -- she really didn't have any set schedule for the rest of today, it was just one of those kind of days where you floated through them with the current. Kilik? "Oh, it's been a while," she said, smiling amiably. Kilik, that one guy she'd met once -- or twice; he'd been on TV that one time. This little analysis ran through her mind in less than a second, not really affecting her manner in any way.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 11:26 am

Elekid gulped a bit then snatched up a bit of candy almost in the blink of an eye. The little bugger was fast! He popped it into his mouth and shivered. It tasted so good. Certainly, the sugar was going to course through him and make him even faster thanks to the sudden boost of energy.

"Don't eat too much of that!" Kilik snapped, tapping his baby on the head, "He's...still a bit young at heart, it seems." The boy scratched the back of his head, "I won't bore you with details. I'm sure Crenu's already asked the usual 'How have you been?' and 'Where are you going?' questions and I wouldn't ask you to repeat them." He laughed and crossed his arms over his chest. Being surrounded by a few friends was nice. He heard the hiss of the door opening once more. His eyes widened. "Oh no..." Kilik groaned, slapping his hand over his eyes.

"Hurry on now, Judith! Do you have the bags? No, Janie, let him walk! He can do it on his own!" A deep, yet energetic voice spoke. A rather portly man with jet black hair exactly the shade of Kilik's (with a few gray streaks) and a black mustache entered the room followed by a tall lanky woman and a small girl. His burgundy blazer stood out against his black vest and khakis. He held a cane in one hand and carried a large suitcase in the other. "Professor Rowan's announcement is tomorrow, I wouldn't want to miss any amazing discoveries, no sir no sir! I--" he stopped when he caught the eyes of the trainers. "KILIK, MAH BOY!" he laughed, holding his arms out and dropping the suitcase. "Judith! Imagine that, our boy!"

Kilik waved to his friends and whispered "I'll be back in a second..." he walked slowly over to his family, Elekid finding it all rather amusing and hugged his dad. "Hey, Dad. Mom. Janie. And..." he smiled, then burst out with a laugh. "Flareon!!" he pointed at the canine and snickered. Seems Janie had gotten ahold of him. Two pink bows lined his ears and his tail had been given a curling iron treatment. Putting aside his trainer was laughing at him, Flareon hopped up and was gladly caught by his trainer. "Flare Flare!" he barked, licking Kilik's cheek. It felt like it had been so long. "These bows suit you," he snickered.

"Now now," Joeseph cleared his throat, "I take it you're here for the announcement too! Like father like son, I suppose!" He glanced around the room and pulled his pants up a bit. The belt didn't seem to be working. "Ah!" he pointed at the table again, "Talk about surprises. Mr. Rustings' daughter is here too!" he waved for her to come over. "Flaweon was a good boy! Yes he was!" Janie cooed, rocking back and forth on her heels. She raised an arm up to pet him, but couldn't reach due to her brother's height. "Honey, don't embarrass him. And you, Joeseph!" she put down the bags and gave her husband a light tap on the shoulder. "You need to stop making such a ruckus! If Mary-Anne would like to come over here, then she would!" "Her father and I found a hefty find, indeedy-do!" He laughed, completely ignoring the fact his wife was talking to him, "A big Aerodactyl fossil in the Kanto region! Bigger than big!" He removed his glasses and cleaned them with a cloth from his pocket, "The two of us got our pictures in the newspaper and a big ol' paycheck for finding it, yes we did!"

Kilik blinked. M.A.'s dad worked with his? Why didn't he know that? Furthermore, why had they never been introduced as babies? "Great job, Dad." Kilik gave his dad a thumbs up. Now that Flareon was here, he was certain someone in his party was going home in his place.

M.A. rose timidly, feeling like a Caterpie in the midst of a pack of Fearow. No, they weren't going to eat her, but uh... Their liveliness made it seem like they were twenty people, not four. It didn't help that she didn't really know them (excepting Kilik, who she wasn't even that familiar with to begin with).

"Uh, hi," she said, blinking and standing awkwardly before the family, a sheepish smile on her lips. So this was Dr. Ranmo; she'd heard about it here and there. Never really met him in person, though. If she hadn't seen said newspaper article, he'd be a complete stranger in her eyes. And big ol' paycheck? She hadn't heard of that... Oh, that was that one time where her pops came home practically exploding with gifts. And a new car. And car-full of fossiling instruments. He failed at financial planning.

Be polite, be polite, she reminded herself. "How are you all?"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 12:09 pm

"Ah, Mary-Anne! Don't be so shy!" Mr. Ranmo laughed, "Remember that big water cannon you got for Christmas? I hand delivered that to you. Though you were only about ten at the time and I think it was really meant for Kilik..." he dragged the ends of his mustache in thought, "Yes! Quite right! That was the year our boy got the doll house! The boxes were the same size and I forgot to put tags on them! Sorry, mah boy!"

Kilik sighed. So that's where his cannon went. Blast water like a Blastoise! Shoot torrents like a Wailord! The Big Bad Water Cannon! it had said on the box. Instead, he got the Skitty playhouse. It wasn't all bad - he managed to repaint it into an army-themed bunker. "All that aside, I think what he's trying to say M.A. is that it's good to see you."

"Yes dear!" Judith smiled, "It's been so long since I've seen you or your mother. We need to bake..." she scratched her nose, "Yes. I think, if we find her, we'll bake tonight. Are your parents around in Slateport, honey?" "YES!" Joeseph exploded, shoving his finger into the air, "Grand idea Judith! We'll take the Rustings out to dinner! Get in some R & R time!" He snickered and began laughing, quite loudly. "Get it!? R&R? Rest and relaxation, but!" he fixed his glasses, "It's also our initials! Ranmo and Rustings! Bahahaha, I amaze myself with my humorous banter!" He began to spurt laughter as he took up the suitcase, "Kids, we'll see you in a few hours. Judith, Janie and I need to get settled into our accomodations. Kilik, you..." he looked about, "Keep doing what you're doing. As long as it's not illegal. You know how society frowns upon that." Judith made her fingers into the shape of a gun and pointed at Kilik "Pow pow!" she laughed, walking away. She quickly received a scolding from her mother.

Kilik gulped. Great job at subtlety, Dad... he thought. Kilik watched the family walk away and he turned his attention to M.A. "Sorry. He's excitable." The boy scratched the back of his head sheepishly, "But the idea of a dinner sounds fun. At first I thought he was kidding, but he seems pretty serious about it." Elekid was still in stitches about Flareon and the hysterics of Kilik's father weren't helping. The canine was growing annoyed with the baby and nonchalantly smacked him a few times with his bushy tail. Seems the curls were coming out already.

Crenu raised a brow as another person arrived. It seemed strange to him that this guy knew his name, but upon searching through his memory he remembered the incdent back in Johto. He simply nodded to acknowledge the greeting and remained standing, the way that Kilik ignored him just made being a silent observer the better. Within moments there was a series of noise and even more people coming over, which was not to his liking. M.A. seemed to be reacting negativly as well, though it looked more like timidety rather than annoyance. To avoid getting caught up in this happy fest he slithered for the counter to pick up his pokemon. "This aint my scene." He said with a seriouse face and a dull tone to match, clipping the pokeballs onto his belt.
