Kioko turned around and heard the poem. it was a very nice piece actually.
"nice poem jackie, did you write that?"

"dont worry about it, like you said, you didnt know. sorry i sorta snapped at you. it makes me mad when people pick on him about it. its not like he can help it. in fact, hes better for it. hes not prejudiced against anyone, and appearances mean nothing to him. besides, he cant get beat up, and if he does its not something you can brag about." max was trying to be funny, but it was sort of a weak attempt.

Crow listened, almost curious, he'd never met a blind man, and he'd always wondered how they might manage to make their way about on their own. Though he'd probably still be better off than most without it, he hated the thought of losing his sight, after all the visuals were the most inspiring and beautiful aspects of combat, he couldn't imagine not having that.

when they got there, max leapt halfway across the front lawn, then bounded up onto the front shelter next to a window on the second story. he turned and said, "dont come in, i want this to be a private moment." then he slid the window up and climbed in. he looked over at patrick, sleeping, and almost started crying. he sniffled and patrick woke up. "whos there?" "its me, patrick. its max. ive missed you so much. you wouldnt believe what ive been through." patrick's expression changed to one of worry. he looked, turned his head really, towards where max's voice had come from. his eyes never really looked at max though, they were always slightly off. "max, whats wrong? you sound different. come here so i can see you." patrick had picked up on that ever present, low growl in max's voice. he slowly walked over to patrick and knelt down so they were on the same level. patrick slowly reached out his hands towards max's face, and max grabbed them, as if to stop him. instead though, he brought them to the side of his head where his ears used to be. patrick put on a shocked expression, and max moved his hands up to where his ears currently were, then let go of patrick's wrists. patrick gently rubbed max's velvety feline ears, then brought his hands down max's face. his fingers gently ran over max's muzzle, feeling the length, the whiskers, and the end of his nose. "so, have you got a tail too, my lovely kitten?" patrick asked lovingly. a tear ran down both their faces. "ive got a tail, spots, claws, everything. my dad had me turned into a leopard boy. it hurt so much, but being here with you makes it better." they hugged each other tightly and patrick ran his seeing fingers through max's fur, causing him to purr. they both laughed at this and max said, "i had to come and see you, but i cant stay here. will you please come back with me?" he asked pleadingly. "yes, i would love to. i dont want to worry about you anymore." max smiled and stood up with patrick in his arms. "it might be a bumpy ride back, but i wont drop you, i promise." "its ok, i trust you." max stepped back out on the roof and spoke to strobe. "this is patrick, he'll be staying with us from now on. if you have a problem with that, i suggest you get over it quick." he stood there on the roof for a few minutes, adjusting patrick for easier movement.

While they were waiting outside, Strobe scanned the dark areas of the street with his eyes, looking for any sign of movement. Nothing had struck, though, by the time Max made it out of the apartment.
"Why would I have a problem with it?" Strobe said, even though he really did, "But if were going, we should go. This place has too many nooks and cranies where the enemy can hide..."

Kioko stood up and brused the dust that was on her outfit.
"wow, sitting in one spot for too long really takes a tol on my body boredom wise." Kioko said laughing sheepishly.
Truth be told, this was probably the first time in a while where she actually had alot of time on her hands, and now she doesnt know what to do with all the freetime.
"maybe if i can get in some practice i can occupy myself. that was i wont be bored and i can stay skilled. Feel free to spar with me or watch, i'll be infront of the waterfall okay?" kioko said turning back to the gang that was by the fireplace.

Kioko nodded at Jackie.
"thats fine, i was meaning to to see how good everyone is at fighting. you know, test your skills" Kioko said heading towards the waterfall.
The sun was in sunset mode, so it was getting dark.
