"Maybe the kid asked him to take care of it?" Cody guessed. What else would an adult be doing with a teddy bear?"
"Want to go camping with me this weekend?" He asked.

Toby lounged on the couch, listening to his iPod with one bud so he could hear the oven when it went off. He'd just finished the dishes after making some snickerdoodles and they were baking now, filling the house with the smell of cinnamon and sugar.

Maia entered through the front door and paused at the scent wafing through the house. She smiled. Snickerdoodles? "I'm back!" She called, heading to the living room. She sat next to Toby, kissing his cheek.
"Lori said yes. Ready to hear the question?"

"Hm?" It took Toby a moment to make it through all of what had been said. Finally he smiled and nodded.

"I asked if he'd walk me down the aisle at our wedding," she said. "He was really surprised," she added. "You've been busy," she looked to the kitchen.

Toby grinned. "Really?" He had known that Lori and Maia were close, but he'd never expected this to be the question she'd ask of him. "Did he cry?"
Cookies were a lame second-class discussion now.

"Hah!" Toby called, "He did, didn't he? The man tries to be all burly but he's just gushy on the inside." He laughed slightly, but not maliciously.
"I'm sure that made him very happy, love."

"A bit like you," Maia said, and smiled at him. "Let's see..." She attempted to mimic the same stoic face Toby wore while on certain missions. She kissed his cheek.
"I think he is," she said. "He's really sweet."

Toby laughed. "That's my cop face! You have one too, you know."
He mimicked Maia's serious face, only barely exaggerating it for hilarity's sake.
"He always has been."
