Ooooh!
I gotchya.

Right on, that sounds great. smile
I want to buy a desktop and do just that and hook it up to a TV.

I should probably upgrade my entertainment system too. It's got a nice subwoofer but I feel that there were too many flimsy cords for the other speakers.

Dyude, if you're worrired about tge worries just use a light a type and bind 'em together to eep 'm tovgether. That shouyld solve any flimsy wire issue.

If you're feeling their muswic or sound qualityu is in the s**t then thzt's a whole diff issue. lmao

Dude, if you're worried about the wires just use a light tape and bind them together to keep them together. That should solve any flimsy wire issues.

If you're feeling their music or sound quality is in the dumps than that is a whole different issue, lol.

I'm not sure. I don't play PC games so it doesn't have to be too fancy.

Been playing Diablo 3 with friends the last couple of days. I will get a post out tomorrow but unless Sab can heal broken and fractured bones quickly Kira is getting kicked through the portal and so is the angel Sab wants to bring along. Sab will have to settle for a piggy back ride as well. sweatdrop

It's all good.
I've been entertaining company most of this weekend.

Bones are a breeze for Sabby so Oni has no need to worry his stripes off... Though, I'm pretty sure our fairy friend would not object to her angel being kicked through the portal.

If you're simply looking for a cheap desktop to hook up to your TV you can buy all sorts of refurbished and repaired desktops for $100-$200, but if you want something a bit nicer and new (Probably better in the end..) I know Dell sells stuff as cheap as $300 since you won't be buying a monitor.

You could always look around for parts and build your own system for fun, though. I did that with Phantom last summer and had a blast. You learn a lot, but you aren't really going for gaming, so perhaps not really in the realm of what you're looking for.

You could probably build a system for roughly that $300 price range as well. The biggest catch I found for building a system was actually buying Windows 7, which runs $80-$100 itself. =/
Unless of course you already have a copy that you can switch over from an old desktop or an unused laptop. Then it'd be considerably cheaper.

I might look into building one. My roomate works for Geek Squad and has the Windows OS that I can have...I'm fairly sure I'll be spending more money on a television than a desktop hahaha~

http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/gaming-desktop-computer.html

That is the site we used, which gives a lot of information of what exactly you're looking for/doing when you buy parts/put them together. Their cheapest is close to $600, but I linked you more to show what parts you need exactly, and it gives guides on putting it together in the end.

Most everything is interchangeable nowadays, but still double check compatibility when you buy things. Tigerdirect is an excellent site for locating computer parts, and then once you find what you're looking for, copy-paste the part into Amazon and Newgg to find the cheapest deal.
I bought mine rather patiently over a few months, waiting for the exact part to go on sale before buying it, lol. Remember to buy yourself a wireless internet card, too...I forgot and had to wait an extra week, lol. I just bought a $20 one on Amazon and it works well.

As for TV's~ Your best bet is definitely brands that aren't well known. They make excellent TV's and the like, for $100+ cheaper, since they are still trying to get their foot in the market.

Spectre is a good brand, but more well known now. Personally, I bought a 40" TCL (The Creative Life) for just over $300 2 years ago and it works fantastic still.
Definitely spend time comparing products. They have 40" TV's for low $200's, but they are generally cheap and bad quality. I would type in "40in TV" in Amazon and compare all of them. They have a policy that if the TV gets cheaper within like 2 weeks of you buying it, they'll refund part of the money to equal that cheaper cost.

I waited until mine went on sale, as you should do with all things ;] It's just a waiting game. I found like 3 TV's that were all very similar and then when one went on sale I nabbed it. (This is for LCD's, not an LED...LED's are like twice as much due to the picture quality/crispness.) An HDMI cable is your friend, and my TV looks very nice and clear as well, so I'm pleased with it for sure. I bought 3 HDMI cables in a bundle so I can use one for my Xbox and one for my desktop which is hooked up to the TV as well.

My desktop was made out of a mixture of parts. Some from one of my old HP Slimlines (such as the case which I cut open to fit bigger parts)

I only really replaced my mobo, CPU, PSU and GPU. Altogether it came out as 145$, but I'm gonna have to up my GPU as the one I got was cheap(like 15 including shipping. Couldn't beat it at the time) but I'm pretty sure bottlenecks my Phenom II X2 550 BE. It runs pretty much anything I need, but overall her ability to play games is on the low side for my tastes. It can play MMORPGs without a hitch - though games like Planetside 2 demand too much and I had to OC the GPU to max in order to run it on low graphics. (Lmao~) So playing an actual legit game on this computer is out of the question.

I eventually plan on just going the entire other end of the spectrum once I save enough to build a new baby. The only problem is what I want to build (though is cheaper than my sister's Lenovo laptop) is still more than I find comfortable on spending at one time. However, it would be guaranteed to play games for a lonngggg time. So where as I'd spend a lot, I would save in the long run, and I want to get SLI or Crossfire going on that way I can simply throw more GPU power in even later on when needed.

Be forewarned, though. If you decide on one of the builds the site offers, make sure to bookmark each of the components. The site changes daily for "best bang for your buck" deals. So one day it could have a Phenom II X6 up, but BAM by the end of the night it might have a FX-6100 in place of the Phenom because the FX went on a sale and became the biggest bang for the buck. So on, so forth.
