I had gone clubbing on Saturday night as a cute li'l fairy. And now..? Now I am in my comfiest sleepy clothes, as I enjoy this quiet night in. After all, those festive candies are going to be on sale tomorrow and a well- rested shopper is an effective shopper. Yay, sugar~!

..although I am disappointed about one thing. Tonight a good friend of mine is having a video game- themed costume party, but it's been raining all day and there's a lot of standing water on the roads. Ahh well, you can't win them all.

But what are these decadent delights with pieces of candy corn on top? I do not know but my gosh, I'd sure like to try one. ( does anyone know what these are? i'm curious. )

Those are Candy Corn Pudding Parfaits

Ingredients

9 HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Candy Corn Flavored Candies
1 package (6-serving size) vanilla cook and serve pudding and pie filling mix
3 cups milk
1/2 cup frozen non-dairy whipped topping, thawed
Additional whipped topping and candies for garnish(optional)

Directions

1 Remove wrappers from candies. Stir together pudding mix and milk in medium saucepan.

2 Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Set aside 1/2 cup pudding; place plastic wrap on surface and refrigerate. Evenly divide 1 cup pudding among 4 to 6 clear parfait glasses. Cover loosely, refrigerate while preparing next step.

3 Add 9 candies to remaining pudding in pan. Stir until candies are melted and mixture is uniform orange color; cool slightly (about 10 minutes). Evenly layer orange pudding onto vanilla pudding in serving dishes.

4 Stir 1/2 cup whipped topping into cooled vanilla pudding. Evenly layer onto orange layer in serving dishes. Cover; refrigerate until ready to serve. Garnish with additional whipped topping and candy piece, if desired. 4 to 6 servings.

I made this last night to some success. They were delicious, but look nothing like the picture! And were more like toffee or caramel than the cakey consistency they were supposed to have. I think I had a flour-sugar ratio issue. But they were really tasty, so no problem.

I want to try it again this weekend, if we can find another coconut, and this time I'll measure the ingredients! And we'll see what difference that makes.

aw. i still hand out to teens. as long as they are dressed up. now if they come to my door and don't have a costume they don't get candy. or if they don't say trick or treat. drove me nuts when the kids came up and held up their bags without saying anything.

Heh.. well have no fear. We're just rolling into the whole holiday season. Still plenty of chances to indulge in too many sweets before the year is over. 4laugh

We used to have trouble with some teenagers coming up and grabbing whole handfuls of candy. So now we just grab a couple of pieces for them instead of meeting them at the door with the whole bowl. Most teens we encounter though are sweet and just escorting their younger siblings around.

Teens here tend not to dress up... and they don't reach for the candy.. but they say Trick or Treat all smart a**.. like the deserve the candy... Sorry but next year they get no luck... we gave them 1 piece of candy only.... if they didn't like it tough cookie!
