After several quiet minutes in the car, Nari finally pulled into the garage of HQ. She actually felt somewhat anxious about what to tell Luciano regarding Koji, Waffle, Sabe and herself. For her and Sabe, a white lie would most definitely be told. 'Oh, well. It's probably for the best right now, anyway...' she thought and shrugged as she stepped out of the car. Turning to Sabe, she raised her eyebrows and said, "I'll tell Luc about Koji if you tell him about Waffle?"

As Sabe stepped out of the car, Nariana's suggestion made his heart drop a little. "...Only if he asks where she is," he said, "Chances are, he doesn't care to know, and that's good enough." A nagging thought in the back of his head told him Luc or at least others wouldn't believe it. Mostly untrue, but it persisted.

It's been a while since the last time he went through the rather spacious garage, not counting today. It was more like a private parking garage than a residential one, with the way cars could be organized. But there were so few. Pen's motorbike stayed parked in a corner and Luciano's car took up the spot that directly went out to the road without turning. The rest of the parking spaces were empty except for the one Nariana pulled into.

Sabe walked into HQ and started making his way down the hall. He had no idea where Luciano was right now but figured he was at least awake.

Luciano sat on the couch, in the living room area. He had no idea the group was back yet, and he wasn't sure how he was going to get them in line like Johnny asked. Luciano hasn't had to put his foot down and establish command of his unit in years. This group has never had any issues with falling out of line. Luciano noticed that things always seem to fall apart when Skotti is gone. This made Luciano feel terrible, and he wished that he were a better CO (( Commanding Officer, for those of you who aren't familiar with Military terms )) like he used to be. And he traced it all back to when his unit was ambushed at The Gates of Barton all those years ago during that race war; Humans, Vampires, Grombies, and Elves all fighting each other. Luciano didn't know there was an ambush waiting for them. Even so, he couldn't help but feel responsible for all of those people dying. What he felt the most terrible about was how he couldn't take his own life when they captured him; "Remember Men! Don't let them take you alive!! They can't find out our secrets if you're dead!!" Luciano remembered the "Suicide Serum" that the Scientists gave the soldiers. It was a small vial with this strange pink coloured liquid inside of it; If you drank the whole thing, you died in seconds. Well, Luciano couldn't do that to himself. . He couldn't take his own life.
"More people wouldn't have had to die if I had just followed orders. ."
Luciano's motto always was: Never give in. Never surrender. To this day he only follows the Never surrender bit, because gives in way too much. Especially now that Michelle is gone. . "How am I supposed to do this without a rock?" He thought to himself. Luciano's flaws were now appearing to even himself; He always had to be told what to do. He couldn't function without someone giving him orders, or suggestions, and now that The Kuros- His superiors- had been silent for so long, and with Skotti gone as well, Luciano didn't know what to do anymore. . He didn't know how he alone could find the confidence in himself to do what needed to be done.
And now his insecurities were surfacing, and he was being forced to face them. Luciano ran his hands into his hair out of frustration and exhaled, "You need to ******** pull yourself together," He said to himself, "You have to. You don't have a choice at this point."
Choices. Something Luciano hated. He hated making choices, as he was never good at making them. Especially the hard ones. . .
Luciano's moment was suddenly interrupted by the sound of footsteps, but he didn't look up to see who it was. He was focusing on breathing.

There was some muttering coming from the main room, but Sabe didn't catch what it was. He did know that was Luciano's voice. At the same time, Sabe didn't want Luciano to see him with his bruise uncovered like it was.

Instead of talking, he made his way toward the stairs, quietly, hoping he wouldn't be noticed. But it was probably too late by then; elves have unnaturally good ears.

Luciano finally pulled himself together, and went to see who it was that came in. Once he saw it was Sabe, he said "Where's everyone else?" Luciano then paused when he saw the bruise on his face, and then he said, "What happened to your face, Sabe?" As he pointed to the bruise on his face.

Of course, if I hope something doesn't happen, it happens.

Sabe stopped where he was and turned around. He looked down the hall to check how far back Nariana was, then back to Luciano. "Nariana's catching up with me, Koji's off in the Zen Gardens she'll explain that one...and everyone else I have no idea of. You know how they scatter after a while."

There was a short pause, as if Sabe was trying to put this off as long as he could. "As for the bruise, I got it this morning. You were sound asleep, I think," he said, "No points for guessing from who."

Luciano raised his eyebrow. He wondered why Nariana had to explain everything, "Why won't he tell me?" Sort of shrugging that off now, and moving on to the more important thing. Luciano sighed and then he said, "At this point, I'm willing to lock her up downstairs if she doesn't stop. ."
pushing his glasses up and then folding his arms, he then asked "Are you alright?"

Sabe slightly shook his head at Luciano's offer. "That would have been helpful...years ago," he said bitterly, "I...scared her away. Beat her to a pulp, nearly killed her. She ran off and is probably crying to her folks about how awful I am and making them hate me more then they already do."

He tilted his head to the side until he heard a crack, then repeated it for the other side. "I'm fine though, I think, just not feeling that great. When am I ever?"

After Sabe and Nari entered HQ, Nari fell behind a few steps as they walked. She found herself sinking deep into her thoughts. 'What am I supposed to say?... Hey, Luciano. Twilight got away. But it wasn't my fault! Ha ha!... Oh, boy,' she thought and sagged as she walked. But when she finally saw Luciano in the corridor, she stood straight and put on her best "calm" face.

"Oh, hey. You're just the man we were looking for," she said to Luc and patted him on his shoulder. Inwardly, she cringed. 'Oh, gosh..... The h-ll was that??' she thought, feeling that her entrance was too cheesy for her tastes. She didn't want to bring up Twi, unless he asked, despite knowing that the topic was imminent.

Before Luciano could say anything to Sabe, he heard the sound of Nariana's voice, and felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around and then he said, "Oh? What d'you need?"
He was now wondering why people were acting weird today. .

Perfect setup... "What do I need? Well, you see... I need to tell you a funny story," Nari smiled and said far too sweetly to sound normal. She took a step back to give Luciano some space-- and to give her a second to run if necessary. After taking a deep breath, she quickly spat out with rapid hand motions, "I was interrogating and slightly torturing Twilight in the basement. Waffle stepped in to increase the pain. Koji interjected. And poof! A dark energy portal appeared, and Twi took Koji away..." After Nari finished, she flinched, waiting for Luciano's reaction.

Luciano clenched his jaw. . . And in almost a growl he asked Nariana, while staring her dead in the eye, "Where are they now?"
So this is why Sabe avoided telling him anything. Luciano never picked him to be that sort of person- It felt like ever since the Kuros had gone quiet, everyone's true colours were showing. And Luciano really did not like it.

Grimacing, Nari returned Luc's intense stare and said in a sincere, serious tone, "We have no idea. The portal closed before I could jump in to follow, and there's no way to track it..."

Sabe watched the way Nariana handled the explanation in horror. He wasn't expecting her to do it in this way. Probably against his better judgement, he barked at her, "If I knew you were just going to make an a** out of yourself, and also me, I'd explain everything myself! Go upstairs and take your foot out of your mouth."

He turned to Luciano and sighed. "Although I was not there to witness anything, I think I can explain it better than she can," he said, then lowering his voice for the next part. "I'd like to tell you elsewhere though, just in case the walls have ears."

"Shut up, Sabe." Luciano said in almost a growl. He was just as responsible as Nari was at this point. They all were. And this was Luciano's fault. For not having a firm hand, and having better control of his unit.
"Both of you. No more talking. You're going to help me clean this mess up."
