Scottendo Ahem.. EVERY CHARACTER FROM THE ORIGINAL SUPER SMASH BROTHERS WILL BE IN IT.Besides, Ness will be in it. Why would Lucas replace him? No character has replaced anyone in either of the Smash Brothers. Lucas is so much different from Ness. Ness is used in many tournaments. Oh, and.. every veteran character from the first game will be back. Did I mention that every character from Super Smash Bros. will be playable? How do you even know.. ?

She is still alone... @Girunit: If they actually put in another Sonic character (Which I highly doubt.) It will be Tails. They'll probably be AT Also, I really don't want any more 3rd party characters. I want some more Nintendo characters. That IS what smash bros is all about. Our fave Nintendo characters beating the crap out of each other. 3 Stars of Kirby? Kirby, Dedede, and....? Metaknight dude xDYeah I was thinking they should put Ridley in but he's pretty freaking huge to be a character, I think he'll be in the Subspace Emmisary though. So, they scaled charcters sized to make 'em bigger and smaller before. But yea, he probably will be in a boss. Ridley was as requested as Ike and Diddy Kong. Which is quite a lot considering he is a Metroid character, and as arguably the main villain in the series of Metroid, you could say he's more important to the series than Diddy Kong in Donkey Kong. I hear that in a certain poll, Sonic beat Ridley in being requested by only 15 votes. And...  I'm pretty sure he was supposed to be in Melee as a playable character, considering his resizing here and that he didn't really appear much in Melee. Sakurai seems to enjoy leaving the villains until the end. I'm guessing Ganondorf is the next in being confirmed. Ridley's song is in the game, he's going to be in it in some form, that's for certain.

I remember reading somewhere that Sakurai saying that no one from the original Smash Bros. for the N64 would be cut. Atleast I think it was Sakurai. It was a long time ago and I don't know exactly where I read it. I like to think that it's true.

Well, no one knows if all veteran smashers will return from the original or not. Lucas and Ness look quite a bit alike, so I wouldn't be all that surprised if Ness wasn't replaced. They both have purpley shorts and then the red and yellow striped shirts, with nearly identical faces.
I don't really know Lucas' attacks from Mother 3, so they could be nearly identical to Ness' for all I know. He might have a yo-yo, a bat, and everything like Ness. Then again, he may be completely different. They just seem too similar in looks.
Then again, Lucas' update said something about Ness, so I believe he'll be in. I can't think of any original smashers that would be cut.

Yea, but I don't think Ridley has ever been that size, except for that small cutscene in Melee.
Bowser appeared first about the size of Mario, then got bigger in later games.
If Ridley ends up being playable, I'll have put my foot in my mouth, but I'm gonna go with him being a boss character.

They shrunk Bowser down, they can skrin him down too.

Bosses can change sizes. If they wanted to, any boss could be a playable character.

Hemeans the original N64 version and he's definately right. They would never get rid of the originals. Be assured of that.

Meta_Fish Bosses can change sizes. If they wanted to, any boss could be a playable character. Petey Piranaha eek Is Boswer Jr. gonna be in it?

And it could easily be Mecha Ridley boss, considering that Giga Bowser was a boss while Bowser was still playable.

Actually, I was slightly surprised by Dedede being a playable character. I always thought his special attacks would be too similar to Kirby's, and Meta Knight would take the place of Kirby's rival instead. Well, we'll have to see how he turns out.
And as far as Ridley goes, I think he could easily became a playable character in Brawl. They could shrink him down from his current form's size for the game if they really wanted him. And was he really that big in the original game? I never actually played it myself, but Kraid was only the size of Samus in Metroid, and he's even bigger than Ridley.
