Again, what kind of passenger goes up to the crew and asks "hey, i noticed a fighter in your hanger, mind if i go use it?"
It's not like you're really going to trust me to fly it anyway, not by any stretch of logic. Afterall, i could easily just think i know how to fly.

Now that I think of it, this really isnt a Kadgi moment anyway. We're just running and gunning.
Thought considering that the pirates are just as big a threat to you as they are to the rest of us, if you have any usefull combat experience it would probably be beneficial to your continued survival that you find a way to implement it to help defend the thing you're standing in.

That's a snubbed-nose answer. That's like saying Luke should have helped han fly away from the ISD by helping fly the falcon at the beginning of ANH.
We know just how much that sucked.
Edit: Plus, unlike everyone else on board, the cargo is not my concern. The only 'threat' they can throw at me is attempting to blow up the ship, or shooting a blaster at me. In either case, that involves me staying out of the way of the crew.

You know, I'm starting to enjoy this... by being cooped up in the engine room I have to find "non-traditional" ways of keeping involved and helping out while I'm waiting for the damage reports to role in.
I almost forgot, the Maruader's turrets are normally retractable. Thats probably a safety feature to prevent us from doing what we're trying to do. The pirates jammed um up and filled the space they'd retract into with a bigger ready magazine and capacitor.
