Nari was about to make a fuss about Sabe's "helpful people", but she bit the inside of her cheek and kept her face neutral. 'If you had others to help us out, why didn't you say something sooner?? Auuuugh!!' she thought, inwardly swearing. She was okay with her plan as a last resort, but not as much as another option. Still, it was too late, and she was committed to her cause. And then there was his own request. Sagging, she raised her hands as a sign of surrender and said half-jokingly, "Alright, alright. Long as my back's not broken after all of this, we have a deal."
Sighing, she smiled in a tired kind of way and pushed the emergency brake down to start driving again. Truly, she was relieved that he agreed to help, though he had made a few speckles of doubt creep into her mind. She focused on her surroundings to avoid confronting those thoughts.
That's when she saw him-- an all too familiar silhouette started to near Sabe's window as they drove, and her doubts about everything were thrown out the window. She could only think of one thing, 'Twi... Twi... TWILIGHT!!l' She gripped the steering wheel tightly and growled as anger welled up in her. She pulled to a skreeching stop, unbuckled her seatbelt, and threw the driver's door open, not even stopping to turn off the car properly. Oh, if only looks could kill. Her glare was icy as she hopped over the hood to stand in front of Twi and swung her right leg for a roundabout kick to his gut. "Where's Koji?!" she yelled at him, ready to tear him to pieces for all the chaos he caused at HQ.

he almost didn't catch her kick as his mind was focused on Sabe in teh car. but as she kicked at him, he barely dodged and was thrown off-balance.
he side-stepped, and muttered "woah--! h-he.. he escaped! I don't know where he went." Twi answered hesitantly. "h-how about we... talk this over.... like adults?" he said, holding his hands up non-threateningly in front of his chest.

When Nariana agreed to his deal, Sabe finally thought they were even. But for a second he could have sworn he heard her say something about not saying something sooner. I'm not a mind reader, geez... he thought. Then he realized she never opened her mouth at that time. This is the third time something like this happened to him, except the previous times involved nothing but scrambled garbage with a few momentary pictures in between. This time it was something coherent, even if it was only a fragment.
He sat back for a bit and started to ponder this, until the car suddenly stopped again, the screech broke his focus, and suddenly Nariana was no longer in the car. Did she get sick from that drink she chugged or something? He didn't notice Twi yet, and he kept facing away from where Nariana was going in case she was ill.
Then he heard a kick and plenty of yelling. Sabe turned his head toward the source and saw Nariana going after Twi, who he hadn't seen in ages. It was good to see him again, but not like this. He reached over to the ignition and attempted to copy what Nariana did when they got to the bar in order to turn off the car. It took him a few tries to get it right as he was very unfamiliar with cars. Afterward he got out of there quietly and walked up to Nariana.
"People are watching, you know." he quietly grumbled. This was true, as the sidewalks in Durem are never completely empty.

"gyah! Sabe, can you help me please? she's realy got it out for me..." he practically whined. "I'll owe you one, mate! just hold her back."
he honestly didn't want to fight, and was hoping that this maneuver would work. he neither knew Sabe to be the type to meddle, nor was certain if his general non-aggression would extend as far as stopping a violent teammate from assaulting a traitor. but it didn't seem likely.

Twitching in annoyance at Sabe's comment, she scanned the area for any spectators and caught a teenage boy staring at her across the street. Though she said nothing to him, her glare gave him a good message. If he knew what was good for him, he'd steer clear. Sure enough, he hightailed it down the sidewalk as fast as he could, like he'd just seen a ghost, and didn't look back.
Meanwhile, she refocused on the object of her anger, Twi. "You're d-mn right I've got it out for you!" Nari retorted and jumped in the air as she swung her left leg for another attempted kick. "I gave you a chance to talk, you b-stard!" she said, referring to the interrogation. He didn't make any sense then, and she highly doubted anything that came out of his mouth now would be truthful. If an outsider heard what she was saying, though, they'd probably think Twi was just her cheating boyfriend or something. It was almost amusing to watch: the girl who hates his guts, the guy who is about to get his tail handed to him, and the third wheel.

When Nariana's leg went out for another kick, Sabe caught it and kept a firm grip on it. "Handle this like a civilized person or go sit in the car. You don't have to run out and attack someone on the street because you hate them."
Sabe let go of Nariana's leg, which may or may not have been a smart decision. But it felt like she would have fallen over if he hadn't done so, and that would be a bigger offense.
"Anyway, how about I talk to him instead? I'll be able to tell if he's up to no good...and I doubt he'll be willing to talk to you more if you keep hitting him. Or he'll give you false answers just so the beating stops."

Johnny eventually unfroze Luciano after a long talk; Johnny talking some sense into Luciano. Johnny convinced him to look for his group. Johnny wasn't about to tell Luciano where everyone was. His job wasn't to give away any details, his job was to help things along. So when Luciano sat down on the couch and cradled his head in his hands, Johnny folded his arms and he said, "When everyone comes back, you will restore order. And then you're all going to relearn to work together as one unit. This is not a request." Luciano sighed and then he said "Johnny, we are lost. . Our leader, The Don, has been on radiosilence for far too long-" "What does this have to do with YOU taking charge?" Luciano flashed back to his capture at the Gates of Barton during that race war, then he flashed back to a time before that where his men all got lost in this jungle and two of them killed each other because Luciano couldn't restore order. And he remembered when he and his friends went back in time, he couldn't save his father. Next thing he knows, his fiance's blood is all over his own face and clothes. There were more failures that he remembers, but these stuck out the most. ". . I lost my confidence the moment she was murdered. I lost all hope the moment I saw her die. . I don't know what to do anymore. ." There was a long pause between them. . But then Johnny let out a "Boy, you've GOT to be shitting me." And then he said "You're telling me that your abilities lie with your now dead girlfriend?- Luciano, you've been in and out of military ops for a long time. We've seen you from up there, fighting your a** off for the s**t- Stupid, trivial s**t, really- that you ******** believe in. You did this longer than you knew her. So, really, you've had it before you even knew her. It's just somehow she made you feel better about yourself, and all that other humanoid crap. That said, you need to get the ******** up and find it again; That confidence. Now, I'm not going to stand here and ******** baby you, and coddle you, Luciano. What I'm going to do is ******** make sure that when your group comes back, you're going to grow some humanoid balls and you're going to lay down the law. And then you're going to focus on the more important matters. THAT is what's going to happen. Do I make myself clear?" Luciano didn't have any problems with this. If fact, he missed having someone get on his case about getting things done and making him focus. Johnny reminded him of a drill seargent that he had in the Marines. . The only thing Luciano needed to do now was wait. Wait for as long as it took for them to come back. He wondered where they were. . .

As Sabe caught Nari's leg, a look of shock overtook her features for a moment before it was replaced with that icy glare. When he spoke, Nari said nothing and just glared at his hands wrapped around her. Feeling extremely indignant, she didn't want to look at his face. It was the only thing she could think to do in order to keep from getting more angry and attempting to knock her partner on the ground. And in some small, still-rational part of her brain, she didn't want to hurt Sabe; she knew he was right about talking to Twi.
When he released her and finished talking, she curled her hands into fists and trembled a little; however, she walked ever so slowly back to the driver's side and leaned her back against the car with her arms crossed. That was her sign of cooperation. There was no way she would get in the car, though. It seemed childish to her, and she didn't trust Twi enough to talk to Sabe and not pull something.
'Why is Sabe so calm about this, anyway? It's that man who kidnapped Koji! It's his fault that we were attacked by those d-mn vampires!' she thought, confused and unable to understand why Sabe seemed to come to Twi's defense. She gritted her teeth as she let her nails sink deep into her crossed arms to keep herself from hopping back over there and beating Twi to a pulp. He didn't deserve any mercy from her, and he was just lucky that Sabe stopped her.

Twi let out a long sigh of relief and dropped his hands to his sides.
"thanks, man." he said, smirking sheepishly at Sabe. "you realy are a pal. listen, I guess I should explain myself, huh?"
he took a few moments to look around, glancing to Nari and gulping a bit.
"just... just so you guys know, I didn't hurt him. I... I held him hostage, for a little bit. but he got away. I figured he would head back to headquarters, though. didn't he?"
Twi couldn't realy hide the look of genuine worry on his face. he was concerned for Koji, and hoping he didn't get kidnapped or killed by the Vampires. still, he had to stick to the plan. this talk against the Don would get Koji blacklisted for sure if he was found to have fraternized with the enemy.

Sabe shifted his weight to one side while listening to Twi. Near the end of the explanation, he noticed that didn't give any meaningful answers.
"Yes, he would head back, but so far he hasn't. We want to know where you took him initially, so we can narrow down where to look for him. Even better if you know which direction he went when he 'got away' from you, and be specific," he asked.
He waited for that to sink into Twi's thoughts, but this wait had a higher purpose. Sabe gathered his concentration and hid the effort; perhaps this will be the first time he intentionally delved into someone else's thoughts. Or it would just fail due to his inexperience and nothing of note would happen.
"By the way, don't lie to me either," he warned, "As far as I know you've been mostly truthful with me, but I've heard some ...things...from other people that make me cautious whether it's truth or slander."

Twi gulped a little, and looked nervously at Sabe. this was a bad position.
"I took him... I took him to the Zen Gardens. one of my favourite hideouts. he was headed west to Durem last I saw." he paused a while, and then lowered his voice. "Sabe, I... I don't think I can be entirely honest with you. but you have to believe me when I am doing this for your safety -- and Koji's."
he hoped that the hint would be enough for him. but in case it wasn't, he offered a little snippet.
"I can tell you the truth, but only you. I trust you to be careful with it." looking around, he then leaned in close and whispered in Sabe's ear. "Koji tried to rescue me. he got caught in his own Shadow Portal, and I redirected it to get us both to safety. I didn't kidnap him, leastways not on purpose."

Sabe's efforts at verifying what Twi told him failed, and nothing came to mind. He would have to take his word for it. "Thank you. Assuming it's true, we'll be able to find him in no time," he said. Then he lowered his voice enough to keep the conversation between him and Twi only. "I am not at all surprised. More like impressed. He doesn't seem like the type to enjoy Waffle's antics nor is he very confrontational like some people," he mused, looking back at Nariana for the briefest moment then back at Twi. "...but he still intervened before she did anything especially damaging, and I'm glad for that. As for me, we're running a little late I think...Nari's not going to be any happier, so I'll leave you alone now I guess. Ask if you need anything. Also, take care of yourself, and hopefully I'll see you again some time."
Sabe left Twi to his own devices and made his way back to the passenger side of Nariana's car. He didn't look at her directly but instead sat back down in the car and waited for Nariana to do the same. This is not going to turn out well...

As Sabe and Twi spoke on the other side, Nari couldn't help but to feel a little betrayed. She sagged against the car more as she tried to listen, but it was futile. There was something obviously wrong about the scenario, and she probably would have to just deal with being left out of the loop. 'Honestly... As soon as I come clean with Sabe and make progress, he decides to hop to Twi's aid. This blows,' she griped to herself, though she was a bit surprised by the personal offense she was taking to this. 'Stop thinking like that... It's just business. He's just trying to get out information. Nothing more,' she half-convinced herself.
Shaking her head once, she replaced her sudden look of disappointment with a scowl as she could finally hear Sabe's voice normally again. Under her breath, she growled, "You're d-mn right I'm not going to be happier," as she turned around to give Twi one last icy glare. 'Don't think I'm done with you,' she thought viciously, but kept her mouth shut. Her eyes did enough of the talking. Sinking into the driver's seat, she closed the door, got settled, started the car, and pulled off.
At first, she wanted to rip Sabe's head off for several reasons-- not defending her, keeping secrets between him and an enemy, and just associating with Twi in general. But no, she couldn't do that. Perhaps he really did get something valuable out of Twi; she'd have to trust his judgment. It took several deep breaths for her to calm down, but she managed to say a few dull words afterwards, her eyes staring at the road with a still unfriendly gaze. "So do we wait for Koji to come, or do we have to find him ourselves?" she asked Sabe, though it almost came out as a statement for lack of emotion and emphasis. She hoped for the first option, seeing her hands would be quite tied with Emelio. But of course, Koji was also her teammate; she'd never want to leave Koji to his own devices if she could help.

"You can if you want. He's not that far away from town, especially if he's supposedly heading toward us. But you can also just hope he comes back on his own. He's not that far away and can probably walk back if he wanted to," Sabe replied half-heartedly.
He was occupied with other problems, like Nariana's nonstop frustrated huffing and puffing, literal or not, that started since they got in the car. It kind of stung him when he felt the contempt emanating from her. A little knot formed in his belly, similar to the one time he got carsick on a mission, but this time the car was not going particularly fast and definitely not making wild turns everywhere. More than anything, it may have been his nerves getting the better of him. He gazed at the little window switch for a while before pressing one. A click and nothing happened. Oops, I keep forgetting about that He pressed the other side of it until the window came down about a third of the way. The air coming in was refreshing and felt nice on his skin, even though it wasn't all that hot outside nor was Durem's air quality all that great.
"I'm sorry for earlier, but why are you so angry with me?" Sabe blurted out of the blue. He bit his tongue afterwards, as that was probably not the best way to ask. Most direct, but no tact.

'Oh, that answer was useful,' she thought sarcastically at Sabe's pitiful response. She was about to resolve to say nothing more during their ride when he surprised her with his apology and question. A dozen or so different answers, all either too vulgar or too emotional, popped into her head. If she wasn't driving, she would have closed her eyes to think for a second. What could she say? Some of the truth would have to do, though to what degree was up to her. Glancing at Sabe through her peripheral, she said in a peeved tone, "I don't like being withheld information, and I hate just about anything related to Twilight." Her hands clenched the steering wheel at the sound of the traitor's name. Man, she really despised that guy now. Not to mention, she actually was upset.
