Well, I was trying to follow the design of the dress from the picture... although the source seems convinced that it's an empire waistline, which would make it look even more like a Barbie cake.
...
Or maybe a gumdrop.
Truth be told, I strongly dislike this dress, so I guess it doesn't make sense that I would try to edit it.
I guess my thought process was roughly:
"I hate this dress.
...
I CAN MAKE IT LOOK BETTER THAN THEY CAN >D"

I've seen the entire dress, it definitely does not have an empire waist. I think the sitting down image doesn't do much credit to the dress because when you see the full length dress, it looks different.
But I do agree, it is a rather horrid dress.

Something about the composition of the dress itself just bugs me.Now see, I really like that :'3! I do agree that the original dress maker could have done some things that could have made it better. I honestly think this dress would be better suited for a "V" waist. But, I haven't a clue how dresses are actually made, so that might in turn be a disaster 8'D LOL And like omg guys...I'm going to be 25 tomorrow :'3 I will have passed all the age limitations, I'll be able to rent a car now X'D LOL

I googled it, the designers name sounded familiar to me. As for me, I've always been a big Vera Wang fan. Something like this is very pretty. I like simple and elegant.

Happy Early Birthday! Turned 25 last month, it is a nice feeling to finally be legal for everything.
Oh... a V waist would be interesting. I think the original dress that the bodice like yours has but then the material of the waist area was the same style as the skirt, so it flowed a little better into the dress.
