"Yes, well I could swim in it... if I knew how to swim," she added as an after thought, "I stayed on the stairs," she told him seriously, "That was much better, because well... I don't know how to swim so..."

Eärendil was startled. He hadn't thought of that little problem ... it would be dangerous, then, for Lin to bathe herself ... what if something happened?
"Does your mother bathe you at home?" he asked her curiously, starting down the steps.

"I take a bath in a basin thingie," Lin replied.
She would say a shower too when she could get someone to reach the knob for her, but they didn't have showers as far as she could tlel.
"But... she would get the soap too..." but Lin liked to do things by herself.

"Hmm," Eärendil mused, his eyes shadowed slightly by his brow as he lowered his head to protect it from the noon desert sun. "Perhaps I should see about getting you a smaller bathing basin ..."
Yes, because otherwise he would worry about her drowning, even if he did get a servant to help her with her bath. Or even if his mother was willing to help ... he would still worry.

"That would be easier than getting Nina to watch, Nina can have the swimming pool," Lin replied back thoughtfully.
That sounded like good.

Eärendil chuckled. "Speak of the kirin, where is she?" he asked curiously. "I haven't seen her around much, and I know I'm really not in the castle a lot, but still ... how has she been keeping herself occupied?"
Really he wished he could do more with both Lin and Nina, but his education could not be ignored.

"Nina has been raising people riddles and sleeping at the statue guard's feet, the one outside our room.," Lin explained, "Oh.. and she went to beg food from the kitchen people, she gets hungry a lot..."
Nina was of course, for all her brains still very much like a normal creature, food, sleep and good things like that were the top of her list.

Eärendil chuckled again. The poor guards ... they probably had never seen anything like Nina before, let alone had anything like her hanging around them all day.
"I hope the kitchen staff have been very good to her," he told her sincerely.

"She looked happy about snacking," Lin replied, "She said she wanted to wait for someone who did riddles with her."
She giggled, little knowing that Nina was referring to the guy who had brought her up.

"Well," Earendil mused, "I think now that Uncle Elrohir's back, she should be able to find someone ... he's always been best with riddles out of everyone in the whole family."
He paused and grimaced for a moment. "I just hope she lets him wash and rest before she bothers him ... he looked ready to slaughter the next person to bug him when he came up the mountain."

"He did seem to be mind wandering," Lin replied, "But he laughed earlier... until the end. He deserves a hug."
Which he owuld probalby never get, and she didn't understand that he didn't get.

"A hug?" Earendil questioned, his expression becoming amused. "Why so?"
Wouldn't that be interesting ... come to think of it, Earendil had never seen his uncle receive a hug. From anyone. Even Ninako ...

"Because he doesn't get enough... I hugged him twice and he didn't get it. He's nice, he needs hugs, maybe then he would be less grumpy," was her reasoning.
After all her Daddy got grumpy often and a hug from her Mommy made him happy.

"Well, he was just traveling through the desert, he looked thirsty, hungry and dirty," Earendil shrugged as if it explained everything. "I'm sure he'll be in a much better mood once he's washed, rested and eaten."
Though he would have loved to have been there to see her hugging him ... just to see his uncle's reaction.

"So then he won't tell me to stop if I hugged him the after he ate, rested and washed?" Lin inquired of Earendil.
That sounded like a good thing.
