Miranda walks up to the Girl's Dormitry to play with Stardust. She jumps onto her bed and sits. Miranda places Stardust on her finger. Stardust nips Miranda's finger. "Ouch! Why'd you do that, Stardust?!" Stardust flaps her wings with excitement. "It doesn't matter, I don't have many friends yet, so I can't afford to lose you..not now." Stardust tilts her head confused. Miranda rolls her eyes and says "You and that one girl Kaylee, you know, from Gryffindor, remember?"

Miranda sprinted into the Common room, still fushed from what had just happened in the library. She was exausted, to say the least. She trudged up the stair to her dormitory and went to take a nap. She wanted to wait untill she knew Carrigan was out of the library before she went to get her things.

Slowly, still slightly dazed from the encounter in the Library, Carrigan entered the Common Room, looking a little more composed. The boy was still quite red, or, at the very least, his cheeks and ears were; which was much less of a blush than his previous one. He stumbled slightly upon entering and went straight for the back of the room, suspecting that Miranda had fled to the very same place he had, and not wanting to run into her again so soon. He hadn't exactly wanted to come to the Common Room, but the first year Ravenclaw was still inexperienced in wandering the halls of Hogwarts and neither wanted to learn his way nor get lost. So, to the Common Room it had been.

Carrigan settled weakly into a chair in the shadows in the corner of the Common Room, folding his legs beneath him as was his custom. He wrapped his arms around himself, finding that he was still shivering even though he was not cold in any way; his face was warm enough to make him sure he was radiating heat. He had left Miranda's books and belongings where they had been left on one of the tables in the Library, because he had a feeling that she would come back to get them eventually, as anyone would, and he hadn't exactly been keen on the idea of returning them to her himself. He could only imagine what kind of an awkward conversation would follow.

He muttered a soft word to himself, picking apart the threads on his cloak with his eyes. Carrigan didn't know what to do. He really didn't.

This was a first.

|| @.@; I really didn't want Carrigan to follow her to the Common Room, but I didn't know where else to put him. ||

Katrina looked up, seeing that a few people had come in. She smiled as if to say "hello," then went back to reading. She finished the book after about five more minutes, then moved on to read another.
She wondered if she'd ever make any friends at school, or whether her books would still be her only friends, just like when she was little.
She sighed to herself, put in a bookmark where she left off, and decided to go for a walk.

It was night now, she guessed around 8 or 9, and she knew she wasn't allowed out of the common room, but she had to go get her stuff. Like she often did, Miranda was out of things to read. She also had insomnia. For the third time this week. Although Miranda had a sneaking suspition that this wasn't insomnia. At least not the normal kind she usually got. All this being in love stuff was going to take some getting used to. rolleyes

She creapt down the stairs and paused for a moment to make sure nobody was there. Carrigan was there, as she had suspected, but she went down anyway. He was in the corner, and she knew he probably didn't want another awkward conversation, seeing as she didn't either.

She tried to close the door as softly as she could when she left, but seeing how bad of a sneaker she is, it probably didn't work very well.

Miranda walked back into the common room, dropped her backpack, and breathed a huge sigh of relief. She hadn't been caught. Although now she was worried that she was going to permanately turn red. Geez, first the library, now this??

And it turns out she could've waited untill morning to get her stuff from the library, she fell asleep as soon as she sat back down on her bead.

Carrigan had dozed off. He couldn't help it; he was so exhausted, but he couldn't bring himself to make his way up into the boy's dormitories; the students in there were few, and he didn't interact with them anyway. When the first year Ravenclaw next woke, it was to the sound of the Common Room door shutting. He startled upright, finding himself with a painful crick in his next from falling asleep in the chair, and no feeling in his legs. He groaned softly, forgetting the noise for just a moment as he woke himself up. The Common Room was dark and the fire was low-- it had to be getting late.

"Hurry back," he muttered finally, suspecting that the creaking he had heard was Miranda heading to retrieve her posessions before class. He didn't know why he said it, for there wasn't anyone to say it to, but he said it nonetheless. He liked the Miranda girl's company, even if he had irreversibly pushed their non-existant frienship past boundaries neither he nor she were comfortable with. He couldn't stop thinking about her; and while he normally would have taken this to be a sure sign of falling into like with her, Carrigan's mentality forced him to focus more on her educated way of talking, how she accepted his old fashioned behaviour, and her love for books. Her seclusion. Her situation. Not her body, thank god. Carrigan flushed slightly once more.

He dozed off again before she had even returned from sneaking to the Library. He jerked awake once again, keeping a wary eye on her from the corner of his vision as she breathed a heavy sigh and made for the girl's dormitories, leaving her bookbag by the entrance to the common room. Carrigan stared at it for a long moment before getting up from his chair, legs pricking awake belatedly and painfully. He slunk over to Miranda's bag and picked it up carefully, as if afraid he were tainting it by touching it. He returned to the foot of the stairs leading to the girl's dormitory and stared up, knowing that the stairwell would be cursed to prevent any untrustworthy males entering while the girls slept.

Carrigan took out his wand. Swish and flick. "Wingardium Leviosa," he murmured softly, levitating Miranda's bookbag and guiding it up the stairwell with gentle swishes of his wand. Once it reached the summit of the stairs, he lowered his wand, breaking concentration. Her backpack fell to the ground with a muffled thump, and Carrigan turned back to his chair, content to fall asleep in it once more, and wake the next morning with a painfully bad back.

Miranda was boredly sitting on her bed with her owl. She was thinking about Quidditch. So many thoughts were racing throught her head. "Are they going to let me play?" "When do I find out if I play?" "When does the season start?" Miranda looked at her owl, Stardust. Miranda patted Stardust on the head. "You know, term starts very soon. I don't know if I can take you to my classes." Stardust flapped her wings. "I sure won't be able to take you to Quidditch if I can even play." Miranda gets out her Ravenclaw scarf and plays with it. Stardust carefully watches it. "Oh come on, don't be so lazy." Miranda had a feeling that Stardust understood her because Stardust began to try to catch the scarf. Miranda laughs. "You took that seriously, didn't you?" Stardust flaps her wings with excitement. "You know, you really are a smart owl to have. I'm glad I found you at Diagon Alley." Miranda had a flash-back of when she saw an owl in a crate on the sidewalk in Diagon Alley. "I found you the strangest way..." Stardust flew up to Miranda's shoulder and rested there. "I wonder who left you there, you were only a baby owl at the time, remember? I found you a year before we came to Hogwarts." Stardust hooted softly. "Good girl, Stardust. I can promise you that I will never leave you." Miranda stroked Stardust's back.

(Sorry I wasn't on yesterday, I was busy making my cosplay outfit for anime detour)

Miranda awoke, to her suprise, exteremly late. Like 9:30 late. Okay, it wasn't that late, but late, considering she usually woke up around 7.

She was about to close the door of the common room and go to the great hall for some breakfast, when she saw Carrigan, asleep in his chair.

She walked over and poked him. "Carrigan, you can't sleep through the whole day. Come on, let's go get some breakfast before the elves close the great hall to get ready for lunch."

|| It's fine! ||

The first sensation Carrigan registered was a sharp poke to his midsection. He startled awake without a yelp of surprise, for which he was thankful, but he did press back into the chair in shock, eyes going wide for the quickest of moments. When he saw Miranda leaning down over him, reprimanding his sleeping habits, he pushed himself back further and tried to regulate his uneven breathing.

"What time is it?" he asked finally, in a breathy voice he didn't like-- but he couldn't help it. He took several deep, calming inhalations in through his diaphragm to slow his heart rate. He wasn't used to being woken up in such a manner, but even so, his body should not have reacted so strongly.

Carrigan expected that had more to do with who was doing the waking.

Miranda couldn't help but giggle a little. "Do you always leep this late?? Well, you're going to have to fix it eventually, otherwise you're going to have some pretty annoyed teachers come start of term." Maybe what he had said yestaerday about not interacting with people very often was true. It sured seemed like it. Why did he seem embarrased?? Didn't he know that most people look like idiots if you suprise wake them up?? Oh well, that could be dealt with later. Right now, Miranda was too worried about being locked out of the great hoall untill noon to be too worried about Carrigan's sleeping habits.

"It's like 9:40. Come on, we have to get to the great hall before 10 or the house elves will lock us out! Although we could always just go to the kitchen if that happens, but that would be pretty awkward because I don't know about you but I prefer not to be waited on hand and foot. And I think both of us have had enough awkwardness to last us a while."

Hearing Miranda's giggle, Carrigan flushed and angled his eyes at the floor once again. He knew he wasn't actually being laughed at, but it felt like it. He was just that bad at interacting with people, it seemed. Sighing, he ran a hand through his dark hair and stared off to the side, at the floor.

"I'm normally a night owl, to be honest. I am not a morning person," he said, grimacing and placing a shuddering stress on the word 'not'. He could imagine that Miranda was right, however-- he had to fix his sleeping pattern before the new term started and the teachers began to deduct house points for sleeping through their classes. Carrigan winced and sat more upright in the chair, unfolding his frail body and returning life to his legs by vigorously rubbing his palms over his thighs until they prickled. He stiffened as Miranda gave him the time, shooting to his feet so quickly he nearly crashed foreheads with his classmate. "You should have gone down to breakfast without me," he murmured, taking a precautionary step back in case the Ravenclaw girl felt the need to kiss his cheek again. Carrigan highly doubted it, but his self isolation had built up years of paranoia.

Then he smiled slightly, but it wasn't his real smile. It was the strained kind of grin that he put on around strangers he wasn't comfortable in the presence of. And while Miranda was no stranger, he was still awkward from their whole ordeal in the Library. He appreciated how she was trying to extend the hand of friendship, however. He'd have to train himself to offer a hand in return. "I'll race you to the Hall." The teen turned and exited from the Common Room, not exactly running so much as adopting a long-legged stride down the corridors until he reached the towering double doors of the Great Hall.

Katrina sat on her bed and sighed. She took out her sketchbook, deciding to draw for a change, rather than continue reading. She decided to try a spell that she had heard about that plays music in one's head, which worked, and she began listening to some old Classic Rock songs. She looked out the window at the grounds, wondering if she would EVER make any friends. She looked down at her sketchbook and began to do a sketch of the view from her window. Her owl flew in through the window, which was open, and perched itself on Katrina's other arm as she drew.

Miranda could tell Carrigan ws stilll awkward about the whole interacting with people thing, but he must've gotten over it because all the sudden, he looked upfrom the floor, tried at a grin and said "I'll race you to the Hall."

Happy to see that he had gotten over it, she ran after him. Well, it wasn't an actual run, but a really fast walk to keep from getting a detention.

|| That's ok, I do too. If you ever see any of my posts like right after I post them, like half of them aren't in house colors and I have to go back. Does the great hall have a thread?? I thought it was the announcements one. Oh, well, looks like I'll just ave to make one. smile
