Ender666 yes. sorry i hadnt had them in mind. what does monstrous creature do? (i forgot) Monstrous creatures get alot of stuff, but this is all that's relevant to the discussion: Monstrous creatures get two penetration dice against vehicles and automatically ignore armor. But if they use attacks that affect thier strength or work unusually (like rending) they lose thier extra penetration die. A Carnifex would automatically get two penetration dice when smacking a vehicle, but give him rending and he'll have to pray for a 6 to get a second die.

Just one flaw: A Carnifex will penetrate anything on a 6 already, making rending completely useless.

Pontius Pirate Just one flaw: A Carnifex will penetrate anything on a 6 already, making rending completely useless. True. But that just illustrates my point: Rending Claws are not the best choice in all cases. Also, my example holds true for the Hive Tyrant.

Nids = bloomin annoying. Look out! A big, filthy unit of genestealers is gonna charge you! oops, your T5 termies are being help up by flying rippers! Aw, was that your LAST Nurgle dread I just blew up with m Zoanthrope? Ooh, look! Your Daemon Prince was just bitchslapped by my Hive Tyrant and his guard! You just dont have enough shots, do you? Even if you hit every shot, wound every hit, and I fail every save, you STILL dont have enough shots, do you? Do you?
That game was so one-sided.
But at least I got my revenge a few weeks later.
The Nid list is pure dirty, bardy, cheesy filth though.

If you're ever unsure about a rule of if you think they're cheating, ask them to prove it to you. Nurgle's Rot should actually do wonders for horde Armies once you're on CC, like Nids, Orks, and Guard, and then to a lesser extent all forms of Eldar.

heart I love my Tyranids. I saw them when I first went into GW, and knew that I wanted to play 40k for that army. I'm still slowly learning about my army, I don't know much. But they're fun!

Nids rock end of story they were the first army i collected back when there was tyrant guard (not sure if they still exist) and old one eye and the red terror were the most amazing models i'd yet seen. Happy naive days before i discovered the horror of a full unit of space marines attacking could seriously disrupt a unit of termagants crying

The problem I have with Tyranids, $300 later, is that they, while being splendiferously badass in many ways, lack the nobility and character of most other armies, and it's hard to give them personality without great effort. I never liked Space Marines as an army because of their overplayedness, but I always respected the flair and dramatics that they possesed.

Tyranid without number advantage is like Orks without waaagh. I suggest that you either do "without number", and just "fleet of claw" using cover and get into choppy close combat battle. If it's IG then close combats the best bet. Tau, I really hope you have fast units, preferabaly with wings.

I've started up with a Tyranid army, and not too long ago I played a massive free for all against some Tau, Dark Angels, Space Wolves and Eldar. I was just curious, what is good for getting up to and whiping out Basilisks / Chaplain Termies? I need some advice because I play agasint these guys a lot ^-^
