Angel87309 Hearing her speak I smiled and seeing Damian here I released her hand and stood up, "Keep her safe", I said softly and then walked into the trees, I stopped after a ways and sat against a large willow tree. I sighed and closed my eyes, I was tired and I was sure that the feeling would never go away again. So much had happened lately, and so much was just about to start. I felt a tear roll down my face as i stared at nothing in particular my mind racing, my hope dying. Ki went over to Runa and embraced her. He told her softly "It's okay. We're going to get through this." He felt her hope waning, "Please, everyone needs your hope. I won't lose mine for you."

Takara looking up at him, gently she smiled and moved closer to him, "Damian, knowing that you won't leave me now, makes my heart happy. Look around you, can't you see the changes happening now." she said softly as she slowly leaned her head upon his chest and listen to his heartbeat. Sighing deeply she looked up at his face until their eyes locked together, "You know that I love you and would never ever leave you as long as I live."

I looked at him and slowly smiled, "Thank-you Ki....but I have given my hope to my friends and have saved none for myself. This battle, we will be victorious in...but I fear the stakes are continously being rasied. I won't let anyone die. But I fear for me as time elapses more...I cannot allow myself to be controled. There is nowhere I can go to escape "it" unless I escape to death. I don't fully know what to do anymore. I just want to keep my friends safe, no matter the cost to me", I said my face becoming distant once more. Slowly I let myself hug him tightly in my arms as tears squeezed thru my shut eyes.

Ki had been through a lot in his life, but he had never cared for people as much as thoses here. Especially Runa. He had met her first, and felt her pains and joys more than anyone else. He... was unsure of how he felt. "I will protect you, and share my hope with you." He pulled back a little to look into her eyes. He lightly wiped the tears away. "Don't worry" He then smiled.

I looked at him and smiled lightly, I was glad to have him at my side, one whom I trusted and had grown close to since our meeting. "I'm glad you're here with me Ki, thank-you....for everything". I said softly. "It's just so hard with everything that has happened and all that is about to...I feel so useless to everyone". I looked down away from his caring eyes.

"Runa," He said with a calm and caring, if slightly firm, voice, "You are that should be thanked. You have kept everyone on the right path, and have gone through so much while remaining focused." He put his finger under Runa's chin and lifted her head up while smiling. "You have helped many people. I don't know if Takara could have made it this far without you, as a big example. If you don't believe that, then believe what I have to say next." He got a little closer to her. "I have spent my whole life trying to find a purpose and my emotions. You helped me do this. I found them both in you, more than anyone anywhere."...

"Ki...", I whispered as I looked into his eyes at his smiling face. Though I could not explain it, I felt my heart begin to race. I felt us getting closer and I blushed slightly. "Why me? Why am I so special to have helped you as I have...."

Ki smiled a deeper smile, and said softly, "Because I love you." He then moved his lips to hers and kissed her. A soft, three-second kiss.

I blushed as I continued to stare into his eyes. I saw such softness there that it made me want to cry. "Ki....I think I....love you too", I whispered softly. Slowly and shaking slightly I rose my arm and laid my hand gently on the side of his face. Never breaking my eyes away I kissed him back.

Xi' had walked away moments earlier. He leaned back against a tree and slumped down onto the ground. Putting the staff on the ground next to him, he crossed his legs and closed his eyes, then relaxed and cleared his mind. Breathing in deep and slow, he exhaled in the same manner; after doing that a few more times, he began to meditate to think upon the situation at hand.

After the kiss, Ki pulled back to stare into Runa's eyes. He didn't know what to say. He had never loved anyone before, let alone been in love. He just smiled as he felt her love.

Staring into his eyes I smiled gently and as I searched deeply into them seeing the love that he had for me I sighed happily. I softly said, "you know that this is the first time in a long time I've heard any man tell me that he loved me since my husband died. And my feelings for you are growing more and more each day we are together. It frightens me in a way and excites me in another. All I know is that I like being with you alot, and I hope that you won't have to leave".

"My feelings for you are growing, as well." He said, lovingly. "I never want to have to leave your side. I plan to stay with you, and everyone here, for a very long time." He caressed her cheek, "I was afraid that this was too soon... but this moment seemed perfect..." He smiled. Ki was happier in this moment than he had ever been in his life.

I smiled back at him brightly and scooted close to his side so I could lay my head on his shoulder. I took a couple deep breaths trying to relax and take in the moment for it all seemed so unreal. I never thought that anyone else would step into my life the way he had. "I'm very glad, and this was the perfect time, thankyou for being here and lifting me up when I needed it the most", I siad softly.
