I went to band camp in North Carolina, and there were people there who told me that they were first chair at their schools (most kids there were from NC). I beat them all, and I thought I sounded like crap. I squeaked through one whole rehearsal, and the band director spit on me, almost diliberately, which is a really long story...Anyhow, the whole point here is that the music department in New York is much much more competive, which was the reason I got first chair at this camp. With a brand new reed. You all know how hard those are...

gonk I just had a dream that it was christmas and my conductor gave me a mouth piece that belonged to a clarinetist who went to juilliard and became one of the best!!!!!!
I wish that dream could come true crying ...imagine...playing on a mouthpiece that belonged to someone who went to juilliard....what a wonderful dream that was gonk
something like that is sorta going to happen to me tomorrow actually, my conductor is letting me use one of the clarinets that made the clarinetist who played it for all southern and got in.. biggrin so it's pretty close~!! -miyoko

No greater love than the feeling of playing my clarinet for five years now. From the Blythewood highschool marching band and no one loves that band like I do, First year band program eight shiny metals..three first places...and we almost made state with our bad 1A sleves..tee-hee. (came from Ridgeview Band last year-look up Blazer band if you want a clue who they are)
Anyway I'm third chair in our sym. band. The kids there are awesome I feel honored to be playing with them and I get scared often in my little chair in the second row...but I'm good at playing pretty tunes....

i know!! biggrin its the greatest concerto ever, i play the music from the band o_O, anyways, i'm gonna have to audition for all southern at the beginning of december (middle school, and for concert band...i'm not good enough for full orch--fourth chair in my group-- though our first chair flute player is :O!!) and i chose to play mozart's clarinet concerto but only adagio ^^ my conductor nearly made me not play it because it would expose my weaknesses because my tone isn't fully developed... sweatdrop dragon hunter GC-omg!! i'm in seventh grade too though in cali and in south pointe middle school domokun power to the middle schoolers xD

Miyoko Clarinetti lol its the greatest instrument indeed 3nodding have any of you ever played Mozart's clarinet concerto by the way? smile I played Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in a solo/small ensemble contest while I was in 12th Grade. I SO SCARED, because the driver that had our insturments had only arrived 20 mins before my solo. So I only had that long to warm up and prep, I ended placeing first in my class which was a great accomplishment for me that day. biggrin I still have my award's from that day, but that one I cherish the most.

i usually play Bb clarinet, but now i'm playing bass clarinet for school for our Christmas concert. there's a really big difference in embouchure but my lips still work!! its kinda weird, especially when you just played bass clarinet one day and a little later in the day play a regular clarinet, the regular clarinet looks sooo much smaller than the last time you played it.
