The wall barely chipped as she struck it with the axe.
"This one's good too," she murmured.
Too bad there was nothing to be gained from this one. Of course she couldn't deny the sheer pleasure of beating the crap out of a wall. This just meant that she had to make these next two walls count.

Kai smiled as she saw that the walls became stronger as she got deeper into the caverns. There was something to be said for doing work like this. Sure the mission was nothing compared to the things that she'd heard she'd be facing later on, but it was fine by her. She knew that she had to hone her skills before going out and doing god-knows-what like Ryoko probably did. She reared back and got a winding start as she went at the wall.

(5th wall complete, 1 ryo lump of coal found)
Izumi connected decently with the wall and nodded as he looked it over. It was solid enough. As he was about to turn away he heard a small as a small lump of coal fell off of the wall. He pocketed it like all the others and walked away. That was it. 5 walls. he had done all that was required but something just wasn't right. He was out of breath but this mission hadn't given him the challenge he craved. As he was about to throw down his pick axe he stopped. Who said it needed to end here? He would keep going until he was exhausted and couldn't do anymore. He turned the drop of his axe into a swing and hit the nearest wall with his best effort.

This wall was tough, but Izumi was tougher still. Where was his challenge? Could he really become as powerful as he wanted doing this? Regardless this was the task set before him and he could not give up until he could no longer lift his pick axe. There appeared to be nothing in the wall and he wasn't quite sure it wouldn't collapse so he rose the axe and swung again with all his might.

Izumi landed yet another solid blow. If this wall could stand up to that, then it was definitely ready for some mining. For a mine that had just seen a violent war, this place was holding up pretty well. This wall didn't seem to hold anything more of interest so Izumi moved on. The walls appeared to be getting stronger and stronger as he moved deeper into the caves. In order to better land a good hit, Izumi took a running start and leapt towards the wall, swinging with all his might.

After listening to sensei about his mission, Reck nodded his head and stood up with his pick-axe and walked over to a random wall that hasnt been dug into already and checked it out to see if there was anything in the wall that he could notice.

...... Or at least that was the plan. Unfortunately this plan didn't work out in Izumi's favor. Just as he started running, he tripped over an inconveniently placed rock and crashed into the wall. The impact seemed to do some damage to the wall but not much. Izumi sighed as he pushed himself to his feet. Maybe he would be better off keeping it simple. It would be pretty hard to screw up a normal swing, so he went with that instead of trying something else.

What was the saying? Keep it simple stupid? It was never truer for Izumi. This strike was quite effective. It became even more effective as an object dropped from the wall. Izumi picked it up and his jaw nearly dropped as well. It was a diamond. Izumi quickly pocketed it and thanked the heavens for gracing him with such a precious gift. This appeared to be a good wall. Izumi swung again, hoping he would, quite literally, strike it rich.

This was the sturdiest wall Izumi had ever seen. He had to be sure though.... Just one more good blow would be enough. He blinked in disbelief as a shimmering object caught his eye. It was gold. This was also the wealthiest wall he had ever seen. He was getting tired now. It was time to end this. He took the pick axe and swung, one final time.

That was it. The wall was safe to be mined. As if in a final parting gift, a small diamond fell out of the wall. "That's it. I'm finished.... Takamichi-dono..." He muttered, not expecting her to hear it, as he pocketed the diamond and walked over to the other side. He pulled out his current book and sat down, leaning against the wall, and read wearily while waiting for the others to finish.

Reck hit his pick axe against the solid stone wall but to little avail as the tip of it dug into the wall slightly and hardly made a crack at all. "Huh? This wall is tougher than I thought." Reck pulled his axe back out of the wall and hammered it into the wall again around the same spot where he hit before.

Reck's pick axe dug into the wall crumbling the hard outer shell and revealing something shiny under the outer crust. "Whats that?" He dug the shiny object out with his hands and discovered that it was a piece of gold. "Ha! Sweetness!"

Ryoko had heard. she looked over to the boy and grinned a bit. Stopping witht he pounding of the wall, she moved over to see what he was up too now. He had completed the work first. Interesting. From the look of him, he'd had better days. His face was covered in dirt and soot and he was sweating up a storm. She rubbed his head and smiled, "Good work midget man. You earned a good rest."

Tired and absorbed in his book, Izumi almost didn't notice Ryoko. After a few seconds he blinked and looked up at her. "Thank you Takamichi-dono." Rest did sound good right about now. Still, Izumi thought it would be best to speak with Takamichi-dono and benefit from her knowledge and experience. "What will we be doing next? I.... wish to become stronger and learn as much as can."

Reck was syked that he found some gold i the walls and was amped up to do some more digging. "Alright. Next wall." He moved down the cave a little more to an untouched wall and pulled back his pick axe and swung at the wall in a swiping motion.
