Maebe climbed out of his arms, her warmth gone. If she could walk, let her walk. She wasn't as bad off as he thought. But it still hurt. He just wanted to make it better. Everything made better. He walked in silence with Cami, Maebe and Sasha as the former two spoke. Even as Leslie showed up with a magic potion for Maebe. He kept his head down, or he looked around in the dark with his shades.

Ice rink. He'd make sure they made it to the ice rink. Then he'd slip away, and leave them be.

Just leave them be.

He'd only ******** up again anyway.

Not only did Rep claim to be unaware of how he became immune, he also refused to name his superior on the mission. Refused. Nobody refused to name their superior unless they were trying to hide something - or someone. Classified, he'd said. Robert's expression was openly suspicious.

Robert had nothing else to say to Rep. He waited, darkened with doubt, until the man had moved out of earshot. It took a long time for him to put his ideas together, but when they came together, he could only manage one answer with the information he had.

He bent in and whispered gently into Mimsy's ear. "He's not immune." He'd believed Rep until the moment that attitude had come out, and he'd turned back into the man Robert was used to working with. The liar. "He's doing this because somebody has to, but in the end - " In the end, Rep was expendable. Every one of them were, in the eyes of the organization. Whoever was really heading this mission had no qualms about putting Rep in the line of danger - the immunity was just minimalizing losses to one. Rep, eventually.

It made sense, and it was still ******** up as all hell. But if someone had to die for a lot of people to live, Robert was glad it was someone he wouldn't miss, for once.

"Give her the antidote. Quickly." His eyes darted to Harrison's encroaching form, and his expression lost none of the suspicion it held.

"Watch it!" He hissed, the suspicion immediately replaced with worry as he covered Alice's ears with his hands. Robert's priorities were exposed in that moment, caring more about a little girl hearing a curse word than who was about to die for what. "And yeah. We are. Because that's the kind of people we are, Harrison." Did he know? Did Harrison have any idea of what the higher ups felt about Rep's survival chances? Would he be this calm, this understanding about the situation, if he did?

Maybe. There was never a good way to read Harrison, he realized. He could have come to terms with things long ago, and no one would ever have known. Or - maybe not.

"Are you saying you feel confident enough to be the guy who gets to label winners and losers? To put importance of one life over another? Because that should be your call? Or anyone's?"

"Yup!" Al glowed as he started to slowly untie the baling twine from a few flashlights, allowing them to fall to the ground. "I hope they appreciate it, you hear that you jerks? I got batteries too!"

He was down to his last string to untie and suddenly stopped there. "Ah-actually. I might need a few myself. Y-you know. Just in case."

His gaze slid suspiciously over to the edges of the camp. "It's very dark out there. And wet. I'm very wet still." He pouted up at Noah.

"You're not gonna go out alone again anyway," Noah said firmly, then, "I told you I wasn't gonna save you a towel. I mean, that's mostly because I don't have a towel to save for you or anyone else, but . No towel, sorry."

"It's no my fault that they decided to hose everyone down with sprinklers," Al huffed before settling and closing his eyes a little. He could feel Noah desperately trying to get bandages to stick to his saturated skin. What good did turning on the sprinklers do anyway?

"Did you pack a change of clothes?" He wondered out loud while his eyes were still closed.

"Why did Rep tell you not to set the sprinklers off earlier if they were just gonna turn them on anyway?" Noah was thinking out loud, frowning slightly. "Unless it's like. If it's supposed to flush something out that they didn't want to come out before?"

"I, um, no," he admitted. "But I'm gonna put a change in my mission bag when we go home. For sure."

Al's eyes shot open again and he stared straight up at the ceiling area. Why did the sprinklers get turned on immediately after he was warned against doing exactly that? It bothered him now. Why hadn't he considered that? Was something in the water itself? What was the change in intention?

"And something absorbent. And flashlights... and..." He paused and wondered out loud again, attention refocusing on Noah and what exactly he was doing, "what is in there that was so heavy?"

"Notebooks and pencils, sample vials, a pocketknife, duct tape, rubber bands, plastic baggies, antibacterial wipes and tissues, a couple of bandanas, a lighter don't play with it you'll use up the fluid, a sharpie, some aspirin, a bottle of water," Noah answered promptly. "Oh and some rocks. ... Just kidding about the rocks."

Al... couldn't think of a use for most of those things. He suddenly gave Noah a very serious look as he asked, "were you trying to slow me down?" He frowned very very deeply which made it seem unlikely that he was joking. He shifted to ease his backpack around and slowly started to sit up finally. He unzipped the bag and started to empty it of flashlight and piles of batteries. He seemed to be looking for something specific.

"No," Noah protested, affronted. "It's useful stuff, you never know what's going to happen on a mission or what you're going to need to handle or bring back or deal with. Anyway it's not that heavy, the water bottle is probably the heaviest thing in there and it's clean water."

There was some sulking.

Al was digging in the bag a bit more frantically, tossing the vials as he found them, breaking one on the ground and causing a crack in another, the rest seemed still usable. "I'm no a lifer man, you really should have used rocks." Next came a flurry of notebook. He started to rip pages out and dab them against his skin - before frantically rubbing them against his skin in desperation to get his skin dry.

He looked at Noah, concern in his expression. "Do you know?" He stopped and started to dig in the bag some more, looking for something else.

Noah huffed. "What are you looking for? Anyway with the sprinklers on you're just going to get wet again." He paused to scoop up the carelessly tossed aside supplies.

With each ounce of returning strength, the more and more Al seemed focused on finding what he was looking for. This time after tossing out pencils, plastic baggies, and his sharpie, it was tissues he was after. He stripped his coat and started to rub at his arms more feverishly. His skin turning pink. "You just don't want me to get it off," he grunted between clenched teeth.

"Get what off? The stuff? Use your scarf," Noah instructed, sounding confused, and took his own off to help. "I didn't think about towels before, that's all ... "

Barry clearly just couldn't keep away. As soon as things quieted down around the camp itself, he returned, sniffing around the edges and trying to steal benches and other building materials from around the barricades.
