[12: Hiding] Still breathless from his interaction with the strange creature in the woods, SpringTooth stumbled to a place he found safe -- or, at least, quietly reassuring -- and sat at the edge of the lake to tune out and relax -- ________________________ The foxfire is small -- undersized, weak, shivering, terrified -- and it was bright pink. Harrow found it nestled in the heart of some grass by the lake on his Grandfather's property. Since then, he'd been feeding it in fits and starts, when he can sneak the food out of the dining room and away to its hiding place among the hatboxes in his closet. [18: Rewarding] Not a bad memory, then, and one that made SpringTooth blink, wondering why he didn't have a small foxfire army now that he was away from home, somewhere safe. And that made him appreciate his father's shortened arm. He hesitated, blinking into the pool, not sure he wanted another memory after that, but --- __________________ "Well done." The words come out almost unwittingly, nakedly surprised, blinking in confusion as his teacher looks down at Harrow. For once, he has done something right: the sword has almost, almost taken on the shape of a sword, instead of melting into a puddle at his feet.
But the words make him blink, alarm melting to pleasure that wrecks his concentration and ruins the moment. [3: Wisdom] A nice one then, though again, it left SpringTooth fidgeting, made him wonder why he was wasting his time here getting chased by monsters when there was learning to do elsewhere. Not that he had a choice -- _______________ "They're miniature houses, you know." She offers it absently, watching Harrow poke at the little cluster of mushrooms on one windowsill, and she grins when he starts -- surprised to find her watching. His expression is confused, so she feels she needs to elaborate.
"The mushrooms. Gnomes put them there. They built them, and they live there, and they mine in your nose at night. And between your toes." She sounds so serious, so certain, so sage, that as his wide eyes return to the mushrooms, he mutely accepts the words as fact.
He believes her wisdom for another four years, and stays up late at night, hoping to catch them. He writes stories about them. And it's shattering to find out it was all a lie._______________ Quest Completion!+ 1 level

[10. loss] The water called Rhythm, though she did not know why. She knelt at the edge of the lake and reached for the water. Memories came flooding, surging as her fingers touched the cool water. The memory was fuzzy at first, but it grew clearer as it went on. She was sad, and angry. She could remember lashing out in fury as her parents took away the reaper toy that she hand her twin had shared growing up. In their minds, it had been one of the few people who had always been able to tell them apart. A thing that was much easier now that they had grown up and the differences’ in their genders stuck out more. It was toy that was special to her, she couldn’t remember ever fighting about who would play with him with her brother. It was theirs, something that they shared, never having to ask to use just knowing that they could, never having to worry about the other getting upset about being left out. Although most of the time they had played together with the reaper toy. She didn’t understand why growing up have to mean that they lost something that was precious to them? In the end it hadn’t mattered how much she screamed or cried, how upset her and her brother where. Their parents had still gotten rid of the toy. [10 Normality] The memories continued to rush past in an ever flowing dream, in them years, days, hours pasted. Time seemed to flow as easily as water from a faucet. Few things seemed to stay the same, the surroundings and people kept fading in and out. Time, change that was normal wasn’t it? There was however a person who appeared in almost all of her memories, her twin was by her side in nearly all of them, which was normal. Truthfully, it was hard to remember times without him. There were times then this near constant stay of togetherness grated on her never, although not as much as his over protectiveness. Family, friends, fun, laughter, that is what normalcy is. It doesn’t mean that every day is the same as the last; it just means that everything has a rhythm a path, things change; she could see that in the memories. Watching as she grew alongside her twin. She couldn’t really find one memory that could be labeled as normal, after all if an event only happened once it was irregular. No it was the ones that where fuzzy, the ones that faded into each other that seemed to call out to her, to remind her what the wakening world is like, what HER normality is like. 12. Hiding Rhythm watched as a much younger version of herself nearly giggled as she heard her brother walk by her. She had found the best hiding spot. She was hiding in a tree, having squeezed under a small gap in the large root system. It was dark and there was a lot of dirt and hard to get into, but that also meant that people were unlikely to look for her there. She was sure that she would be able to get back out once she had won the game of hide n seek, after all she had managed to get in after all. [ 12. Hiding ] Hide and seek was her favorite game growing up. She remembered. A smile appeared on JadeOrchid's face as she settled next to the lake again. Her fingers were in the water without a second thought, because the first time she'd been here.. She found it very relaxing. Closing her eyes, memories of Hide and Seek swelled to the surface. She was hiding in one of mama's closets. It smelled like her and papa. Ink and flowers. Papers and wood. They had the best smells. One of her little sisters was 'it'. Counting off in the distance. Soft giggles rang through the house. They were all really good at this game. Sometimes it would take them hours to find everyone, or until it was bed time. It was a favorite after super game. JadeOrchid's face was hidden in one of mama's sleeves to a dress and she breathed in the scent as she heard her sister's foot steps echo in the room. Even if she was found, she didn't care. [ 1. Kindness ] "Haven't you heard of killing them with kindness?" Lifen's voice rang out, clear in her mind. Her dutiful little sister was helping her with some of the more stuck up people in the lessons she took. "But Lifen," she started, protest ready. Lifen gave her a look that shut her up and all she could do was sigh. "Honestly," Lifen said affectionately, a hand going to JadeOrchid's. She squeezed her older sister's hand before letting it go and continuing. "You know you're one of the smartest in the family, so don't let a little teasing get to you. If they do, just say "Thank you" or nothing at all." JadeOrchid sighed and she nodded. "How did you get to be so kind?" "I take after father." That got a giggle from both sisters. She wasn't quite out of the woods yet. The lake seemed to draw her near again. "Do you see anything in the waters, Sevs?" The hare didn't reply, which was not surprising. Waffleberry shrugged and took a step toward the lake again. She loved this song. It was soft and catchy, not jarring at all. And the words~ she loved the words. Sweet and touching, just the perfect kind of love. Or something like that. She was glad she’d found it. She rarely, if ever, bought CDs, radio was much more her style. But this she made an exception for. This she’d gone out and bought. She….had only listened to the other songs once or twice.
Could you wear a CD out? She didn’t know.

[ 6. Endings ] Goodbyes were hard. It felt like she was ending her normal life and going to live another one. Each of her sisters had given her a small gift as they hugged her. This opportunity didn't happen to everyone. It was so rare for a horseman to get to study off isle, and yet that's the chance she got. "This isn't goodbye," she said to them as she stood back, tears in her eyes. "No, this is just the start of another grand adventure. You know I'll write to you all and mail you small gifts." She never went back on her word. "You'll have to make sure mama and papa do not work too hard. Make sure they get plenty of rest. They're not as young as they used to be. Okay? Keep up your own studies. No slacking." She then turned her back and waved over her shoulder, heading down the path from their home. Little did she know this was the end of her happy family. 8. Confusion
Another memory eclipsed Vaith's sense of reality and time. He saw himself back in that horrible time, when he didn't understand anything. Now that he looked back, he still didn't.
"My sister left?!" Vaith jumped up from his chair, as his clan seated him down to tell him this. "I knew she went on a mission but.."
His mom struggled not to cry. ".. and she didn't come back." Vaith felt a black seed of dread starting to form in his gut, tensing his shoulders. "But mom we're halloween.. We dont die. Not permanently."
"But she's gone and we still can't tell why."
Vaith was confused.

"I'm sorry Ikaite.." Vaith patted his friend's back. They were at the edge of his clan borders now. If he left now.. Well, there was no foreseeable nearby future for him to come back. "You'll have to cover for me. Once I go to Amityville, I wont be allowed to come back."
His friend punched Vaith's shoulder in a good natured manner.
"Just find her. Once you do, I'm gonna ask her to marry me." The bashful statement from Vaith's blond best friend,
"Dude, she probably found someone else."
"I'll beat him up and then ask her to marry me." He retorted, scowling.
".. Uh.. Good luck with that." Vaith put on a show of awkwardness, bursting into laughter shortly after.
