Whether it was her own paranoia or an overreaction, Vanni couldn't tell (and frankly, she didn't care), but she could have sworn that in the seconds where she'd nearly tripped over her own feet, she could hear the men chasing her catching up. Fear coursed through her veins, pumping her tiny frame with adrenaline. She couldn't run forever; she had to be getting closer to the tower!

Whether it was her own paranoia or an overreaction, Vanni couldn't tell (and frankly, she didn't care), but she could have sworn that in the seconds where she'd nearly tripped over her own feet, she could hear the men chasing her catching up. Fear coursed through her veins, pumping her tiny frame with adrenaline. She couldn't run forever; she had to be getting closer to the tower!
Rather than falling behind however the child would keep perfect pace, the men and woman behind her neither catching up or falling back. By this point however several were huffing and panting like wounded dogs, two swearing to Arceus if they made it through this it was time to quit smoking. At the back of the pack one of the men was actually being dragged by several of the Stunky.

Vanni's breathing came in sharp, gasping pants as she realized that while she might have had a decent headstart on the men chasing her, she was still smaller than all of them, and a child to their adult. She couldn't keep up this run forever... she was nearly limping, the pain in her leg shooting up her body with a vengence, reminding the girl of her past failures. She had to finish this, and fast!
Yet with luck, speed, and apparent force of will the child would manage to make it all the way to the facilities primary relay tower. Standing taller than all others, made of some sort of shiny black alloy, the thing probably looked like a villains castle during bad weather. Most importantly however was how the area opened up. The moment Vanni stepped in to it the men and mon chasing after her would be able to spread out in multiple directions, now hoping to cut her off with superior numbers....or at least they would have.
A sharp yet ornate whistle would pierce the air, and in response the clouds overhead would suddenly turn as black as tar. Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed without a single drop of rain appearing inbetween. I high pitched, hissing chuckle appeared in the air for a moment before multiple bolts of lighting struck, each connecting with a human or Pokemon as if it had been aimed. Within seconds Vanni was surrounded by charred and blackened bodies, the stench of smoldering flesh heavy in the air.
Another whistle would follow, a sound to accompany the smell, and suddenly the skies would clear.
The next moment a haggard but familiar looking man in a white labcoat would appear from around the bend, a bag of marbles tied to his belt and a fire extinguisher in one hand. From the looks of it he'd intended to be the next target for the men. He'd probably meant to lead the men in circles till help arrived. Understandably he looked more than a little surprised, almost dramatically so.
"Uh...well..." The Plant Head began "...um,....good work" He stated, not sure what else to say. Slowly lowering his extinguisher and picking his way passed the bodies the man would lift a brow at Vanni "Are you alright?"
Vanni stumbled into the rely tower, completely oblivious to it's ominous structure and lighting. She came to a sharp halt, leaning heavily on her cane, as her pursuers spread out around her. Biting her lip, she reached for her purse-- she may have been heavily outnumbered, but at least she had to try! Shivers ran up her spine as the atmosphere crackled with tension--
No, wait. That wasn't tension.
Her whole world lit up suddenly as the lightning crashed down, striking the men and Pokemon around her. Vanni ducked down as she clutched onto her purse and her cane (given the latter of these was made of metal, this was perhaps unwise). Screwing her eyes shut and trying to ignore the screams and the smells, she waited for it to be over.
And as quickly as it started, it finished. Slowly, she pulled herself to a standing position, doing her best not to cringe at the smell. It didn't take a minute to locate the only other not-burnt person in the room, the Plant Head. Was she imagining it, or did her look just as baffled as she felt? Hadn't this been his plan all along? Maybe he just wasn't expecting it to be so brutal... "I..."she began, stalled slightly as she coughed. "I'm fine, thank you." Vanni took a step towards him, doing her best to ignore the bodies around them. "Is the rest of the Plant all right? Did the Academy send back-up in time?" She was shivering bit, but from the exhaustion or the shock, she couldn't tell.
Nothing, go away.

"They haven't gotten here yet actually" The man announced, dropping the fire extinguisher on the ground and sighing "They said it'd be at least another thirty minutes before they could get together an assault unit." His face towards the floor and his arms hanging limp, the Power Plant Administrator would suddenly perk "....is that a?" Leaning down by one of the corpses the blue haired man would retrieve what appeared to be a Cell Battery. Arching a bow he'd look to Vanni "You wouldn't happen to have some Amber would you?"
How long did it take an Academy to get a proper protection and security unit down to a place on their own campus? Admittedly, she handled herself well enough and the lightning shocks did their jobs, but didn't the school care about one of it's assests? Vanni felt somewhat cynical, but then she supposed she didn't really know how bureaucracy worked. They had to be fairly similar to high society, mind you, with rules, regulations, and not being allowed to leave important functions solely because they were "boring"... it wasn't Vanni's fault she found Lady Fairfax's discussions about handbags to be deeply dull! Anyone would! She felt her other voice perk up tentatively (now that all the scary business was over) agree, and point out that the handbag had been make of a particularly flimsy material anyway, so how was it expected to carry things like sword and fruit pies?
So happy she was that her other self spoke up so willing that it took Vanni a second to return to the real world. She stared at the Administrator, having forgotten in all the hullabaloo why she'd come down to the Plant in the first place. "Oh!" she squeaked, perking up (literally, her ahoge rose slightly) when she noticed the battery in his hands. "Yes, hang on one..." She fumbled with her purse, feeling her way past the various items to finally wrap her fingers around the smooth resin. Vanni held the Amber out in the flat palm of her hand.

In a matter of mere seconds Vanni would find the Amber was very much no longer in her palm. Instead it would be in those of the Administrator, clutched against the cell battery as he very quickly turned around. With his back blocking her view all the girl would be able to see was the movement of his shoulders and elbows as he worked, muttering away, and at one instant abruptly freezing as his hair stood up.
When he turned back around he would present Vanni with what looked like an old pocket watch, smiling as he announced "This is the Status Watch, the official item of the Tactics Team. Normally it's a wrist watch, but this seemed more your style..." The man suddenly seemed to fret "Sorry perhaps that was too quick a conclusion to jump to..." For a moment the man would scratch the back of his head in silence before going on "...er....well how it works is that you press a button at the 9, 12, or 3 O'clock position, aim, and release, which will fire a needle from the 6 o'lock position. Since the design of this watch is a little different the position of the mechanisms at 6 ands 12 have been reversed, on the wrist watch version the button is at 6 and the needle fires from 12." After that the Plant Administrator would cough slightly. "For the time being you ony have 3 shots. Same as the level of your starter."
Following the man would reach into his pocket, searching for something before pulling out and handing to the girl a small electronic device which seemed to fit behind the ear "And here...for some reason I think you're long overdue one of these. It's called a PokeDex. Try it on."
Losing her Amber was slightly less saddening than Vanni had expected, even everything she'd gone through to get it. As much as she relished the idea of riding on top of a massive Aerodactyl, she didn't even know how to revive fossils at this point. Besides, a pretty purple fossil currently rested in her her purse, and that mystery was a bit more interesting.
Her random fossilized musing occupied her thoughts while the Admin quickly worked, but she'd be shaken out of them when he revealed the item in question. It took all her self-control not to squeak like a small child seeing Mega Altaria for the first time as she looked at the pocket watch. "It's perfect," she said, starry-eyed. She took the watch eagerly, listening to his instructions. Perhaps it was some kind of fallacy, but having the watch gave her a strange sense of belonging... like she was actually supposed to be at the Academy. An unconscious smile spread across her face.
Pulling her eyes away from the pocket watch, she accepted the Pokedex and carefully hooked it behind her ear. Vanni looked to the Admin, still smiling. "Thank you." It took her a moment, but she finally managed to find something to say that wasn't completely glowing and girlish. "Um, does the Plant need any more help around here, or should I report back to my Professor?" She still wasn't quite sure what she was doing, but...
