Bast looked over at Akane as San traipsed off to do whatever it was that he was going to do, and listened to the boy with her arms crossed. The boy would only see the cold reflection of himself in her goggles as he strained to find her eyes, even after she deactivated Douka.
"On the contrary, I value the words of a Genin far more than the words of others, as long as they seem based in the realm of thought. However, the health and safety of his underlings was one of San's priorities as a team captain; this prerogative is second only to the primary goal of the mission. The possibility of spreading the plague, getting all of you killed, letting a murderer continue on his rampage, and tarnishing the Village's name should have kept him alert and aware of what he should have done. That young Shakuton kid that just came through here didn't look like he had been training to me," Bast responded, wondering silently what the boy was thinking of her. She only looked to be slightly older than him, after all. "I'm going to take your words with a grain of salt, as Chakra strings can be concealed and rendered almost completely invisible with upper-level Kugutsu training. However, you are right in that Kugutsu-specialists would be ideal for combating these creatures, whether they are automatons or not. If we had managed to claim at least one of those things out of the lot of them, we wouldn't be speculating, though. If an enemy is discovered within the borders, it is the job of the ANBU to uncover all possible data on that enemy and to neutralize the threat."
It was about this time that the masked golem shrouded in fur known as Mononoke appeared, carrying with her Bast's backpack, cloak, and a change of clothes.
"If you wish to continue this discussion, I'm going to ask that you wait until I'm finished changing out of this mess," the woman said, gesturing at the slacks that she had torn to make shorts and the wrinkled shirt that she was wearing. "It's too cold out here to stay this way."
Without waiting for a response, Bast walked out of the Crevice with Mononoke, pulled on her cloak, and began changing out of sight of the commotion inside, with any potential peeping being prevented by the cloak and Mononoke.

A water golem would jump out of San's burden golem, all because he was to dumb, stupid, or had the attention span to remember what he had created this golem for. with a yellow smile and happy anime eyes, the water golem waved to bast sense, motioning with his left had what was stuck floating in his stomach. Speaking with total rememberance and surprise, san thought maybe his image was slightly saved.
"Oh! Miatari! Right...good job buddy. Analyze away oh great sensei of mine. Maybe im not a total ******** failure after all...."
Leaving, San went to face his punishment....

Lucas came running up carrying the LT.
"someone take this man to the hospital asap!"
he shouted to a group of close anbu. one grabbed the man and took him away. Lucas then headed off towards the kage's office. he needed to talk to Mamoru about something.

Bast finished changing and handed her old clothes to Mononoke, who disappeared with them. With this done, she turned around and walked back in to the Crevice, where she found San's captured automaton. She used Gunsei on the automaton to bring it back to its original form, and immediately told it to disregard any orders it might still be getting from other sources. The golem stood still while the woman observed it. After a long time simply staring at the machine, the woman sniffed it and immediately recoiled in disgust.
"You smell burnt!" the woman exclaimed before observing the creature once more.

Akane looked at San and smiled, he was happy that his teacher, mentor, was happy with him. As Bast spoke, Akane felt relieved that he would not be punished for up speaking. But then again, in Sunagakure you had freedom of speech. He was quite surprised that this Sannin seemed to be almost the same age as Akane. It made him ponder, This woman, Bast-sensei, was a Sannin. Did that mean... She was a Legend? Akane smiled at her as she agreed with some of his points saying that a Kujutsu user would be an important increase in artillery for them. This fact made AKane feel more important, and even boosted his determination, he was ready! This fight, when they'd come, this would be Akane's time to shine! He would become a Legend himself and join the Kazekage, San, James, Bast, and all of the other legends soon enough.
He grinned at Bast as she said she was going to change and if he wanted to finish the discussion, the determination burned in his eyes. He looked over as San popped out his golem, an Automaton caught in it's stomach. This made Akane even more happier. It made him feel, feel... Psyched. "Sorry Sensei's but in a time where the village is in danger, and plagued by disease and a constant threat... There is nothing other for me to say." he chuckled closing his eyes a bit, and then pointed at Bast "You said a Kujutsu-specialist is what we need! That's what you'll get! Haha!" He knew what San said to him, bout hiding his spirit, but Bast was not an Enemy, he would let it blast out like a volcano! And if it got him attacked or punished, it would only fuel his determination. He would... become a legend.

Bast knocked on the automaton, and upon hearing the hollow echo from inside, ordered it to open itself for inspection. The automaton obliged and exposed its insides, letting out a horrible puff of the smell of something that had been burnt. Sure enough, in the center of the machine, there was something charred and black. Pulling on her gloves, Bast extracted the object from the heart of the machine and observed it for several moments before Akane shouted his exclamations.
"Good!" she called back to the boy. "That is exactly what I need at the moment. Come here, I need you to explain how Kugutsu works for me. I'm not as familiar with the concepts as I am the actual techniques, never having had to fight a Kugutsujutsu user seriously."
She placed the object in her left hand and formed a half-seal with her right, observing the object silently over a span of a few seconds. It seemed to be very faintly active with some sort of energy, although she was not sure what.

Akane looked at Bast as she spoke out to him, he walked over to her, looking at the charred heart in her hand. Were those creatures living? If they were, they had an expiration date. When Bast asked him to explain Kugutsu, Akane smiled, thinking back to when his grandma explained it to him "Kugutsu is a unique type of manipulation of chakra, connecting chakra to objects and your finger tips. It takes time to learn how to control the strings, Much like a kid playing with a marionette with the famous cross with strings, pulling on one, will make a certain part of the body move. As you develop a bigger understanding though, you may put the chakra string further into the body of the puppet, controlling a more vast area of the puppet with less strings, creating somewhat of a muscle system for the puppet." He paused for a second regaining his thought's "Although Kugutsu no Jutsu is controlling of pbjects, the Chakra strings themselves can be used in a vast amount of ways, making them invisible in higher ranks as you said. Or even stiffening them and pulling objects, towards you. Like a robotic arm. Chakra can also be transfered via the strings, such as to activate some abilities in puppets. This means that the chakra strings can also be attached to other objects, allowing the user to control, or at the very least disrupt, other things. They can even solidify to the point they become solid to touch..."
Akane smiled to Bast "The Kugutsu no Jutsu Technique can connect to anything, when I'm older and stronger in the use of it, I can control tens, no... hundreds of puppets with only these hands. I can even control the dead if used right and changed... Not to mention, I can improve the movement of a living in the Puppet Performance: Skillful Human Body Technique... There are endless possibilities with the technique."

Bast nodded along with Akane's words, applying those thoughts to the object she had retrieved from the automaton. When the boy finished, Bast held up the charred black object, using it as a prop for her questions.
"Suppose, then, that the puppet started out with its pre-programmed techniques and actions and had in it a power source," she began, gesturing at the object in her left hand with her right. "Would it be plausible to assume that, with the power source already taken care of, a person could simply direct the puppet? Naturally, this assumes that there are set pathways that the power can travel on to prevent it from simply being wasted, and that the power source can control the entire body from the exact center of the puppet."
The automaton moved and pointed at its center as she said this, although the inside was charcoal-black and not much could be made out in the darkness of the night.
"If we can safely assume that this is true, then I may have something to show you that would help to determine how these machines are controlled."

Akane listened to Bast and nodded as she spoke "Funny you should mention this..." he reached into his bag pulling out the blueprints for a tool of sorts. "This is the blueprints for a Chakra Connector my parents used long ago... Although they used it as a tracer to chase down targets, and weren't Puppet users... It strengthened the connection between me and my puppets when I was first practicing to use it. I was able to lessen the amount of fingers needed to control a puppet, and made the movements more fluent." He closed the blueprints and looked back up at Bast "If our enemies have made a stationary, or bigger version of this tool, they could control armies, upon armies and yes... Indeed create a power source for the puppet and simply direct it to where it needs to go." He said with a nod, he believed that their assumption was correct.

Bast nodded, and looked at the blueprints curiously.
"Yes, something like that," she said, pulling out her pocket book. She flipped to a page and tapped a seal, summoning up a small pair of black rods. "These are the transmitters I'll be using in this demonstration. I've given this automaton some of my Chakra, making it like an inanimate Chakra source. I assume the enemy in this situation is using something inanimate as a Chakra source, because the object I pried from the charred insides of that automaton has its own energy signature."
Bast tossed the object in to the automaton and placed the black rod in its core. Following this, she walked several paces away from the automaton, placed the other rod in the ground, and then walked back toward Akane.
"I'm going to have the automaton send its Chakra through the transmitting rod in its core to the one I placed in the sand out there," she said. After a moment, she snapped a finger at the golem and the rod in the sand began to glow blue. "This proves the principle. You do not see Chakra strings between the two, correct? I certainly don't. With this in mind, it is completely possible for one person to power several machines over a very large distance, without the existence of Chakra threads. That's why it doesn't matter whether there were or were not threads. Make sense?"

Akane listened to Bast and nodded as she spoke, he watched as she placed the rods in the spots inside the automaton and in the sand. He watched carefully, as Bast spoke he listened but was more interesting in the demonstration, as she made the automaton release chakra, the other rod glowed. Akane's was a bit surprised, as a Kugutsu user, he would see strings if they were any... but there weren't. "Your right Bast-sensei, there are none" he said in surprise. So there were other ways of sending chakra to objects other then Chakra Strings... This would definitely go on his list of cool stuff to learn. "Yes it does, very much so. But it still brings up the idea of messing up the connection..." He lifted his hand and put it up to the Automaton, Chakra strings reaching out to the object and connecting. "The string can still disrupt the connection" He moved his fingers trying to move the puppet, although the movements were delayed and slow and rickety, the automaton moved and waved at them... barely. "I'm still of low level, so I can't do it perfectly as other Puppet masters could do... but it bring up the idea of wave sizes to the connection, the automatons may listen to a stronger connection should they not? I could be wrong though... In fact, I probably am... I've gotten a bit over my head I think" he said disconnecting the string and rubbing the back of his head.

Bast nodded and held out a hand. The rod from the sand flew back in to her hand, and she held it briefly before pulling out her pocket book again and flipping open to a page. She waved back at the automaton, just to be silly, before she started talking.
"You could create interference by creating a similar wave, but it might just be quicker to do something like this," she said, touching a seal. A barrier formed around the automaton, blocking out Chakra signals. The rod in the woman's hand stopped glowing. "Barriers are nifty as hell, I have to say. In any case, now that this question has been answered, you can hop off to take a nap someplace dry. The sun will be up in a few hours, and you'll need your strength to help pick the place up and help those poor people in the residential district."
Bast pocketed her book once more and released the barrier so that she could claim the other rod. Once she did so, she shut the automaton once more and told it to make its way to her place and sit outside until she needed it.

Manfread sighed, as he was hurried off to the decontamination tent.
“This is going to be fun,” he said with a very sarcastic tone. He was soon out of the tent and free to go, wandering off he began to ponder on what he had seen in the automatons. He remembered several distinct round objects inside their bodies, but the veil had gone up quite quickly so he was unable to really identify what they were.
“Receivers? Generators? Hell a hive mind connection?” he said aloud to himself as he walked, “It could have been transmitters, or core structural points.”
There were to many missing factors for him to accurately guess, and Manfread wasn't the hard thinker type to begin with. He waltzed off to retrieve his great sword and would return in a few moments later, with the large hunk of sharp steel strapped to his back. Maybe San, or James could shed some light on this.

Akane nodded to Bast, and smiled at her, sealing... The thought made Akane grin, he would have to learn some of these. He looked at Bast and bowed to her "Thank you Bast-sensei, I will regain my strength and come back and help... Thank you for the talk" He said as he walked away and stretched his arms out in the air. He was indeed tired.... He went to his home and had a nice sleep.
