IRL Stuff: I prefer to go by Woof, makes things easier. I currently live in Ohio, but it's not home. Hopefully I won't be here too much longer. I'm 39, married, one kid. Yes, 39...I'm one of the old people LOL but I still nurture my youthful side. Gaia Info: I change my avvie at least once a day. My daughter calls him my 'dolly' heh but I think he's more like my alter ego. Occupation: Former Systems Integration Mgr, currently unemployed. I've worn many hats. Hobbies/Interests: Music. Judaism. Cars. Art. All kinds of stuff, really. Favorites:StumbleUpon.com
Off to visit the forums and see what's going on...

Awesome- more members! Welcome to all of you guys!
Ladeh: I have a friend who loves to sew dresses; do you by any chance have any pictures of things you've made? ^^
Nanao: I like the nickname! Any particular reason you like typing in 3rd person? blaugh
Uzumaki: The new episodes of Naruto are coming out every week in Japanese with subtitles in case you're interested. Check You-tube for stuff far past the time-skip.
Woof: Glad to have older people here; as much as I hate being judged on age, they tend to have more experience and patience that some of the younger folk. Is your daughter on Gaia as well, or too young?
EDIT: Kind of a random thing that I don't think I've ever actually said: anybody is allowed to post here, so previous members can say hi as well... xp

Is your daughter on Gaia as well, or too young? Thanks for the welcome. My daughter does have an account, and she is too young. I only let her on to play jigsaw, slots and dress her avvie. If she's still interest in Gaia when she is old enough to be let loose, then she'll have a head start on her account. I collect all the giveaway/event prizes for her.

Shalom chaverim!
I live in montreal quebec, Im 19 years old, currently doing my undergraduate degree at McGill university. I also play competitive hockey as a pass time. I love hockey. I might be going tp play for the Maccabi Jewish hockey tournament in Israel soon hopefully (my brother played on it last year) so I'm really excited about that. I'm thinking also of doing birthright this year in May, if not this year then perhaps next year since I want to write the MCATs this summer. In terms of Gaia, i usually hang out in the GD, ED and sometimes the sports section, but mostly in the GD -_- What else... Well my hebrew name is Shimon!

Welcome! Good luck on your MCATS (especially if they're the same thing that they are here)! I can't actually say I've played hockey before, but it looks kind of fun (except for the being smashed into walls part blaugh )

Savete,
my name is Amanda and I am a student of archaeology and antiquities. I am hoping to become a professor of Latin.
I am also very much wishing to convert to Judaism, it is ALL I think about!
If anyone wants to know anything more about myself, feel free to ask.

Hello; welcome to the guild! Good luck on the conversion- glad you're interested in Judaism!
That's pretty awesome on the Latin front- I'm taking AP Latin Lit this year, and it's pretty interesting. Any favorite author/writing?

Yes, I personally love Catullus (5, 37, and 51 are his best =]), Livy (only his account of Nero), Suetonius (Especially Tiberius) and Ovid (Odi et Amo). I would stay away from Cicero XD. He practises a lot of abusive oratory, which can be entertaining, but it gets incredibly annoying in pro caelio. I am assuming that by Latin Lit you are meaning reading Latin literature and not doing translations?

A bit of both, actually- we're focusing on Catullus and Ovid (the latter right now, as we just did a huge chunk of Catullus). We translate their works, talk about our different translations to come up with a main one, and then interpret it (such as literary devices, historical accuracy, etc.) I like Ovid a bit better than Catullus myself, especially after I was told his bird poems could be taken in a different way I didn't think of; fortunately I haven't read any Cicero. My teacher thinks Caesar has "sexy Latin" though. blaugh

It's good to see high school students learning a bit of Latin. Catullus 3, about the sparrow? Yeah.. the sparrow isn't a bird at all. It's his.. manhood.

Yeah... Awkward class discussion about that one.
It's kind of interesting to see the comparisons between that and English- we're reading Pygmalion at the same time as the George Bernard Shaw version. Both quite creepy, though.

Well, ALL I read is Classical literature. Y'know, that Greco-Roman stuff that can be quite boring XD. If I didn't have to stomach both Latin and Greek next year, I would probably take Latin and Hebrew.

My name is Joel, call me Yossel if you will. I'm 14 I'm from Wales in the UK. I'm usually in VJ or in GD/ED I'm a high school student, through and through. But I sometimes work in a clothing store in town. I hope to eventually recieve a PhD in Psychology and lecture at Oxford, which is like the family university. I like monotone sketches, outbreaks of randomness and literature; cult movies that make no sense, people who like people and comedy. If you want to be a friend, cool. I like meeting new and interesting people.

I really want to study abroad there- I also loved the "Question Time" we watched in my Comparative Government class, and you guys have the coolest accents I've ever heard. Randomness is pretty amazing, but stream of consciousness stuff is pretty hard to read. Welcome to the guild!
