Why do people breed Pitbulls, Dachshunds, Chinese Crested, Bull Mastiffs, or Bloodhounds? They did it like any dog breeder. I also have an aunt and uncle who used to breed wolves.

rolleyes Well no offense, but when one thinks of 'wolves' they don't first go to 'pet appropriate'. I was thinking...for like a zoo or something.
But yes, wolves DO sound awesome.

Actually believe it or not a full blood wolf is generally better behaved than a pedigree dog.

Wow, that sounds really awesome Sean. I can just picture a kid sitting on back of a wolf saying "Go doggie!!!".
I think I have relatives that had a wolf as a pet, never met them though. So its not that much of a stretch to believe people would have them as pets, especially since we've actually genetically bred dogs from wolves.

At the same time, I don't believe that whole breed / temperament thing over much. Maybe for a wolf, because hey don't have as many generations of ..well...instinctual tampering... I guess.
But in general the people who own the dog make the dog for me. People should need licenses to get a pet, not to simply have one.

i think you need a license for a full blooded wolf but not for a half breeded wolf or less
