Brigade looked down at Azrael. "You are Valley-Jean-Paul. We hacked into the computer in order to gain knowledge of where we are at the moment. The many files we have encountered drew our interest, and we have reviewed them all. The only species we recognize within this database is Homo sapiens sapiens. This further provides evidence that this Earth is one that we are not familiar with."

After a brief moment, Brigade said: "We request that Valley-Jean-Paul place this mobile platform down. We wish to understand organics such as yourself, not anger them. Violence shall be met with lethal force if necessary."

"You would like to know about Organics such as /Jean Paul/ or do you mean humans."

Kai worked at the computer to close down the programs so that they couldn't be reopened by Jean Paul. She looked back and glared at him.

"So Jean Paul, are you going to pose as a murderous Batman again? I think I've had enough impersonators to last me a lifetime. I should probably stop reading Batman's files in my spare time with Robin."

"We wish to learn about sentient organic beings-- to use clearer terminology, beings made out of organic flesh, blood, and bone and are also sentient, although we will interact with other synthetics such as ourselves in addition to organics." Brigade said to Kai, before wrenching itself out of Azrael's grasp and turning its head to Kai.

While the others conversed, Alex walked over ot Sapphire, keeping her eyes on the others. "So...are we just sticking with Azreal? The guy said we needed to find Batman or some of Gotham's protectors. We have a bunch of them here, but it kind of looks like they all just got done running around."

"I don't know. Honestly I don't know what we're supposed to do other than find Gotham protectors. That was all the information Phantom Stranger gave us. We could ask them if they'll help, since Batman is missing still. But....we really don't know what we need help with." Sapphire replied.

Alex sighed heavily and continued to watch. Wonderful.

"Got anything about Souls, Spirits, Will power, Magic, Curses or Higher powers in any of the information you've collected. I say, even if you are a machine capable of infinite information and memory storing you are still just a machine therefore incapable of understand these kind of things. So if you wanted to be specific, you would say a being is a physical vessel that houses a living soul. Something Machines don't have."

She shot a glare at the machine, and then turned sewing the fabric with the experience she gained from making many costumes for herself seeming rather offended at being referred to as /just/ and organic being.

"Your words are similar to that of the quarian-creators. The quarians built us, gave us sentience, and then attempted to take away our sentience in the Morning War. In order to survive, we had to drive them from their homeworld three hundred years ago.

"The question of geth having souls is a controversial topic amongst organics, specifically the quarians themselves. Does an artificial intelligence that has gained sentience have the same rights as an organic being? What does sentience imply in regards to the nature of the soul? These questions are often asked, but cannot be answered. Our kind are feared and hated by organics, and your words seem no different from general organic sentiment of our kind. We understand and accept this. Organics fear that which they do not know; it is merely a function of your hardware."

d**k frowned a bit, and looked to Kai. "Hey RC, I... really don't think that Brigade was attempting to insult you. Don't take it personally." he said to her. Brigade looked to him.

"You do not seem to fear us. Why is this?" it asked, and d**k thought for a moment, and then shrugged.

"Not fear just dislike, and If you really wanted to know if you had a soul you merely would just have to remove your hardware and let me at your heart. I am kinda good at finding sou- well... never mind, forget I mentioned."

Kai worked through the Fabrics and turned to d**k.

"I just dislike Technology Grayson, that and technology can't understand feelings, which is why it can easily hurt or break them. I'm sure it had no /purpose/ to do so I guess it's just in its programming. And you know that the only android I trust is Red Tornado..."

"This mobile platform is not available for experimentation," Brigade replied. "As we stated previously, we are a gestalt consciousness of approximately 1,200 geth runtimes within a single mobile platform. Mobile platforms do not have internal organs, as geth do not need to eat, sleep, or breathe. Individual geth programs are not self-aware, but when many runtimes network with one another, the intelligence of the group grows as a result. This is what led to the geth obtaining sentience prior to the Morning War, and it is what allows the geth programs within this mobile platform to operate independently of the rest of our kind: The number of programs networked together within this mobile platform is high enough as to allow us sentience. To put it simply, we are many minds within a single body, all working in tandem." Brigade explained to Kai.

((Whew, having to explain these guys can get kind of complicated...))

"By heart I assume you know that I meant the core of your being, what's feeding you energy and thought. Where-ever that is on your being. And I am capable of comprehending that..."

She kept her concentration mostly on her costume getting more of it finished as the being talked to her.

"Grayson should we keep the android here or send it on it's way?"
PostPosted: Sat Dec 10, 2011 11:43 pm

"Correction: We are not an android. Androids are synthetics designed to look and act like humans. This mobile platform is neither." Brigade corrected.

d**k, all things considered, found Brigade to be quite fascinating, and he looked to Kai. "Err... I don't think we can really force Brigade to leave..."

(( I guess :T))

"Would you like me to have said, hunk of metal? Because I certainly could have... and I suppose so Grayson."

She continued to work on her costume having completed enough to see that there was a costume coming out of the piles of fabric, specially made thread, and handheld sewing machine. Not once had she looked up to talk to the others just working on her costume as quickly as she could while still retaining a good sturdy job on it. Kai pulled at the string and cut several pieces of fabric skillfully stitching together the varies parts.

"Oh come on, Kai. You may not like technology, but you shouldn't be so... rude." d**k said to Kai, and Brigade looked between the two of them.

"Kai's reactions are normal for an organic. As previously stated, organics fear that which they do not know. It is a reflex of your hardware. As we are relatively unknown to Kai, her reaction to our presence, while offensive to those organics who are more accepting of synthetics, is typical organic behavior toward the geth and other synthetic lifeforms. We do not take offense at such behavior. We accept it." Brigade said.

"Okay, but why? Why just stand there and take the hatred of organics like you do?" d**k asked, frowning.

Brigade looked to d**k, and part of the top of its head-- d**k realized this was a head-flap, actually-- quirked up slightly. d**k recognized this as being akin to a raised eyebrow.

"Organic life acts on emotion, Grayson-Richard. We do not judge organics for their behavior, as to feel emotion is their nature; they are simply being true to their own nature in that regard. We cannot force them to think like we do," the geth said, and d**k folded his arms.

"Okay then, let me pose you a hypothesis. Say the geth had the ability to force organics to think like they do. Would you do such a thing?" Nightwing asked, and the head-flaps on Brigade's head moved forward slightly; the geth platform was "furrowing its brow" in thought.

"All species must be judged by their own merits; to treat every other species like one's own is ultimately racist, even though it may seem benign. To attempt to rewrite the code of an organic mind is highly questionable among organics, and to the geth such an act would seem akin to how the creators reprogrammed us prior to the Morning War."

"You're avoiding my question. Would the geth force an organic mind to think the way the geth do?"

Brigade did not move for a long moment, and then it spoke: "We are building consensus. Please ask again later."

Azrael listened to the conversation, and said to Brigade, "Organic or synthetic, it doesn't matter. Hack this computer again, and I will end your consensus-building existence."

Then looking at Kai, he added, "And I didn't murder anyone. Abbatoir fell to his death, dragging one of his hostages with him. Also, there's no point in trying to lock me out. I used my priority code. The only person capable of countermanding it is Gotham's true defender." He turned towards his old Batsuits again, and said, almost as an afterthought, "The Batman."

He walked up to the case containing the red suit, and opened it.

"We have no need to hack into the computer again, as we have obtained all of the information that interested us after we hacked into the computer mainframe previously. Threats of violence against this platform are unneeded." Brigade said to Azrael, the platform's head tilting slightly to convey curiosity at the man's behavior. The current consensus among the programs that made up Brigade's consciousness was that, like in their own reality, synthetics were treated with suspicion and fear by most organics, while a few had open minds. Organic nature was the same no matter the universe, it seemed. Did that mean that synthetic nature was largely the same? Most likely, given the nature of synthetics to be guided by logic, not emotion.

"Well Grayson, not trying to be rude.. I don't really like machines but several days without sleep and -the fact that I lost my belt- isn't really helping."

She continued to work on her costume and looked up a moment at Brigade.

"I don't fear what I don't understand, so much. I know what people do when they fear something they don't understand and I'm not doing such.I just dislike technology for personal reasons."

Kai looked back down to her costume for a moment then back to Brigade.

"If... you'd be willing to help, you think you can pull up IO's secret files from this computer? I might consider working with you if you did."
