Oh god, the Orin Inquisition. Excuse me as I check my heart rate.

If you want to be a serious writer or at least taken seriously as a writer, fan fiction isn't usually the road to go down. Fan fiction is known for often being either mediocre or straight up bad. Yes, there are hidden gems, but they're over-swarmed by all of the "eh". I myself am a writer and am currently writing two separate novel series, one fantasy and one science-fiction. It's hard for me though since I constantly get writer's block. I have all the ideas in my head, and it all plays out perfectly, but I just have such a hard time getting it into words sometimes. I have to be in JUST the right mood to really make progress.

I'd do original stories too.

I think that as long as one does not expect to gain any sort of significant reputation from it, writing fanfiction can be a very good starting point. It would be very similar to one of those exercises from literary workshops.

Everytime fanfics are discussed here I remember this one in particular. The author's writing skills are rather average, but I find it amusingly cute.

Fanfics are only a good starting place if you're already creative and just want to try and improve your writing skills.. Fanfics provide little to no room for true creativity since you're constantly using source material.

Oh no, becoming a professional writer is just a dreamer's fantasy for me, its not something I am even considering attempting. I have neither the attention span to complete a novel or writing skills to make it sell. I am just playing with the idea of appeasing my desire of writing by creating meaningless works with no other motive than simply satisfying my own creativity.

Oh, and cute story ^ ^

Jeez, I go to danbooru to find the nightmare fuel pool, and I end up getting heart problems instead.

Two novel series to be exact. The fantasy one will be a three-part series with smaller books than the sci-fi one. The sci-fi story will be two-parted, but in bigger installments.

As for reading them, most everything is on paper and pencil right now. Everything I transcribed over onto text went poof with my laptop's hard drive. I never uploaded any of it on DA because I was lazy, so once I transcribe stuff again I'll upload it and link you. Just putting it out there now, I hate most of my writing. I've just got an inferiority complex when it comes to it, but people seem to enjoy it. Two poems I had to write for American Lit got published in my school's literary magazine last year, and someone actually asked me to write a song for them.

If you think CB is anything like /b/ then you haven't been to the GD. That's the true /b/ of Gaia.
