"They do," Alyse agreed firmly. "I was only twelve at the time. That was fifteen years ago already! They're overdue!"
Timaeus simply laughed.
Ulani was indeed in the kitchen with Ryu and Ruran. She was working on cleaning up Ryu's wrist. Ruran was sitting in a chair, scowling darkly - and for once sitting very, very still. The reason for this was obvious: he was surrounded by three rings of white-hot fire that were very close to touching and burning him.

Feng had to blink several times at the sight before her, she always knew extreme measures had to be taken to restrain Ruran but that was really extreme.
"How is it?" she finally asked. Ryu looked up wryly, "Just stings that's all." "Need any help?" Feng asked Ulani as she set Naida on the table because she wanted to be.
On a table was the few places where Naida could move (drag herself) around and be on chest level with people to talk with or hug.

Ulani looked over her shoulder at Feng and shook her head. "He'll be fine. I just want to make sure it's clean before I heal it up."
She looked up at Ryu. "Do you want it healed or just bandaged?"
Healing it magically wouldn't be unnaturally, really, since all her magic did - for healing anyways - was speed up the process.

"Healed, the bandage will just get soaked."
It was a wonder how fish at all could survive after getting hurt he had to admit. Having something like that was too troublesome, it could get infected, irritated or anything else.
Naida dragged herself over to Ulani and Ryu, "Does it hurt a lot? Why did he try to eat you?"

The corners of Ulani's mouth turned up in a smile at Naida's question, but she didn't answer, leaving it to Ryu to do so - since it was directed at him in the first place. Instead, she began to sing softly. The skin around his wound slowly closed in and came together, and then healed over entirely.
Ruran was watching the entire ordeal with a mixture of curiosity and hunger. Here was his first real time viewing what Ulani was capable of, and there was a look in his eye that said that he wanted that power for himself.

"Well... it doesn't hurt anymore," Ryu looked up from the wound to Naida, "And Ruran doesn't eat people. He was just trying to force me to let go of him."
The brat, he added mentally.
"But he's looking at us like he's going to eat us!" Naida pointed to the little boy as if tattling on him.

Ruran turned his eyes to Naida, his look changing from hungry to disgusted.
"I just might eat you," he snapped, "if you don't shut your mouth - stupid fish!" He snarled angrily at her.
Without looking at him, Ulani altered her song so that the rings of fire constricted slightly around the boy.

Naida stuck her tongue out at him, "Meanie!"
"Naida," Feng sighed picking her little girl up, mainly to get her away from Ruran, "Be nice, and don't flop it makes you heavier."
"Uhm... Sis, I don't think it's flopping that is making Naida heavier."
Feng paused and felt something whamp her at her knee, she looked down, "That's Naida's tail hitting my knee."
"I think the string behind my back broke," Naida tried to wiggle to see, which resulted in her being put back on the table.
"I think your shirt is too small."

While Ulani had never witnessed a growth before, she had sort of guessed at what to expect - since she had seen the difference in size from Kaito from one day to the next. So she wasn't overly surprised - or at least, she didn't let it show.
"Kanis and Aras are sharing the first room on the left down the hall," she told Feng, still examining Ryu's wrist. "There should be some shirts there that fit her."
As for Ruran, growths like that were nothing new - he himself had grown like that, why would he be impressed by someone else's growth?
"Don't think that makes me scared of you!" he growled, not at all caring that Naida was now just as big as - or perhaps even bigger than - him. "You better watch yourself, fish!"

"Bully!" Naida shot back sticking her tongue back out as her mother was carrying her away.
"Naida, don't tease Ruran," Feng supplied.
Naida oddly enough wasn't really that afraid of Ruran (despite her claims otherwise), but probably because she was still dependent on water and elves... could only hold their breath for so long. It was a good thing Celebor never had them learn magic.

If Ruran could move, he would have jumped after the mermaid - but at it was, he only stared murderously at her.
"Just you wait," he muttered under his breath. "Just you wait."
Meanwhile, Ulani had finished with Ryu's injuries, and she sat up and smiled at him. "There," she murmured. "How does it feel?"

He rotated his wrist a few times, trying not to glance at Ruran. Perhaps with Naida as a child it was time to think about training, or at the very least defense. A small part of him thought 'good luck' with that, Naida was very active.
"Much better thank you," he smiled.

"You're welcome," Ulani smiled back warmly at him. "I'm afraid there's nothing I can do for scars, I do apologize for that."
Which meant there was every likelihood that Ryu would have the double arch of teeth marks around his wrist for a very long time, perhaps forever.

"It's not like they're anywhere too noticeable," Ryu murmured.
Though he would have a hard time explaining this if asked by anyone in the family.
"Besides it could have been worse."

Ulani nodded. "I'm just glad it wasn't," she murmured. "But I'm glad you're all right. And as for you ..." She turned and glared at Ruran. "I'm still trying to figure out what to do with you ... you're a monster. Nothing I've tried with you has worked, neither has anything your father has tried."
Ruran smirked. "Well good luck with that," he sneered. "You really think sitting in a chair is going to do anything for me?"
Ulani narrowed her eyes. "If I were you, I would shut my mouth right now," she said quietly.
"Or what?" the boy challenged her openly. "You'll kill me?"
"Don't think the thought hasn't crossed my mind," she muttered darkly.
