It was lunch time when Adri finally left her room again, just long enough to procure a plate of food and a drink for herself. Once she had nourishment in her hands, she returned to her room to eat and finish packing. She had not bothered to check on her master, there was no point if he wasn't in his room. His scent was weaker as she passed by his room, evidence that he wasn't there, so she would do her work and wait for him to reutrn so that she could report.

Lunch was not quite covered by the stale bread Jin had been chewing, though it was nearly there. An apple from a merchant, some meat on a stick to chew while walking through the street, it all came together into a makeshift meal that was enough. He had needed to spend some time picking things up from these stalls regardless... none of it paid for, just like the bread and even the bag he was carrying it in.
Bit by bit he gathered up the supplies that were necessary, and set to work. It would be a few hours before he returned to the inn and took up a seat outside with a bag full of tricks and a bottle of gin. Just sitting. Just waiting.

Another hand was dealt out. Reading the boys' expressions (they had horrible poker faces), he could tell they each had a decent, if not great, hand; while he had nothing. The one that went all in must have had a pair of high cards. Kaiser took this as his chance to cash out. He folded and bid the boys farewell, much to their displeasure, and turned in his chips. At least the missy won't be angry at him this time. Kaiser took his gold and made his way back to the inn, which wasn't too far. He had only gone down a few blocks... he thinks.

As dinner time rolled around, Adri left her room to return her dishes and retrieve her evening meal. Her work for the day was done and all that remained was dinner and a bath. She took her tray upstairs to her room, shutting herself in again and tucking into her dinner. She preferred eating in her room when Kaiser wasn't around. No noisy customers bothering her, she could eat in peace.

Dinnertime already, where had the day gone? Into planning and preparation, of course. Sitting on a bench across the street from an inn with something to chew on and a block of wood to whittle with a sharp knife. He wasn't exactly waiting for something to happen, or for someone to come along. What he was waiting for was for the night to come... and until then he worked at this other task.
Was the inn large or small? Open or cloistered? These are things that only a narrator would know and only a character would observe. For Jin, during his time whittling that block of wood into something resembling a desert toad he had been watching the passerbys of windows and doors within the inn. He did not know what room the woman was staying in but at least once he should have caught a glimpse of her passing by the window. It would be a place to start. From there things would progress.

Dinnertime already? How long had he been playing cards? He must have lost track of time. Now that he thought about it, he realized he hadn't eaten much of anything today and was famished. He hoped the kitchen was still open. He glanced to the fellow sitting across the street whittling away at a piece of wood as he entered the inn, but didn't notice anything that would have caught his attention.
The lobby wasn't too extravagant and there was a little restaurant with a buffet table in a side room for customers to dine. There were still some people eating at the tables, catching a late dinner. The boy at the reception counter was busy reading a book. Kaiser got a plate with some chicken strips and salad and sat in a table in the corner. Adri was probably in the room waiting for him, he thought.
After a quick dinner, he returned to their room, knocking on the door before entering so as not to startle her.
"Yo. Hope I didn't keep you waiting, heh."

Adri glanced up from where she was finishing her dinner on the bed, shaking her head at him. "No, massster, I jussst finissshed packing for tomorrow. Where did you get off too?" She deposited her empty tray on the nightstand next to the bed as she watched Kaiser.

It was getting late, and a little too dark to whittle anymore. Perhaps it was time to begin moving then...
Jin stood up from the bench and tucked the little wooden frog into the cloth bag he carried. He entered the inn, requested a room, and took the key after paying. After that short exchange he went upstairs to take a look at the room which he had paid for. He had no intention of staying more than a few minutes.

"Just getting us some extra funds, heh," Kaiser replied, tossing the purse containing his winnings on the bed and grinning. "Were you able to get everything we needed for tomorrow?"

A few minutes was all that he needed to check out the room that he had rented. He took a brief glance at the layout of the room, as well as the content, and then removed something from the room and added it to the items in his bag. It was nothing particularly meaningful or expensive, but something small would do... perhaps a pad of stationary with the inn's name upon it.
The first place that Jin went to upon leaving the room was the hallway where he stood silently and listened for just a moment. It was unimportant for him to overhear anything in conversation, but if he had a general idea of which part of the inn the woman's room was in he would be able to pick out her distinct voice from any others and identify the exact room that she was staying in from the numbers on the doors.
Two steps closer to the finish line.

"Yeah, I feel kinda grimy from being in that tavern all day."
He already had his coat off, draping over the back of a chair. The bathroom door closed behind him, and a second later water could be heard running, spilling into the shower. He wasn't in there long, only taking about ten minutes. The next five were spent drying his hair with the room's complimentary hair dryer (he hated sleeping with wet hair). He came out wearing only a bathrobe, setting his clothes and boots to the side of the bed.
"See you in the morning," he yawned as he climbed under the sheets, passing out.
((Sleepytime fo' reals.))

Adrienne waited patiently for her master to finish his shower, putting money that he'd brought back away while he was cleaning up. Once he was out and in bed and she was sure he was asleep, she headed into the bathroom to take a hot bath.

And with nightfall, Jin was gone from the inn. It would be several hours before he returned. There were still preparations to be made, after all, and tasks to be completed.
Jin had come to this city seeking treasure, and it was with treasure he intended to leave it.
Around midnight, he returned to the inn.

By that time, Adri would be fast asleep, curled up on her side of the bed. Everything was packed and ready for their trip the next day.
