The hybrid took his hand and squeezed Isiah's, ushering him to put Bornes down.
When Q finally got on his feet, he took a few halfsteps, wavering on unsure balance, his head reeling. He gripped his gut and gave a few dry heaves, his knees shaking as he fought to stay up right.
When he felt like he was done, he breathed heavily through his mouth, shivering again. He wondered briefly he would have a seizure. He'd never had one before. He had always been careful about these sorts of situations. He'd never thrown up the entire contents of his stomach before. He was probably dehydrated too.
"Awas kind of," he coughed lightly, "hoping I'd fall unconscious through most of it," he forced, as if he didn't have enough breath to speak.
He wasn't a vampire, it wasn't as if he'd blow up if he stayed outside in the sun all day. That wasn't it at all. It was like looking straight at the sun.
Straight into the rays of the ******** sun for hours and hours. If the thought of the pain wasn't enough, he wondered if he'd go blind. For real. Even at night.
The end of the world really sucked. He wanted to say that. "the end of the world really sucks, Isiah." The words wouldn't come out.

Isiah watched him stumble around on his feet, glancing back toward their camp. Even now, eyes were watching, suspicious, waiting for him to do something substantial enough to report to their master. He snorted, turning back toward Q. "You didn't answer my question," he grumbled. "Can you make it or not."

"I don't know," He growled. Even though he felt as if the initial rush was over, he stayed bent, as if he were preparing to puke again.
"If it were a normal sunny day I would say yes, probably. But the sun is brighter now. s**t happens. I don't know, Isiah. That's like asking if you could survive a concentration camp. You want to say yes. The chances are against you. But you've never done it before so you just ******** don't know."
A lot of words for someone who was still in a lot of pain. And he sneered every one of them.

Isiah sighed. He headed back into camp- if Q was smart he'd stay put- grabbing his jacket from his things. It wasn't technically food or shelter but it'd be something he could cover himself with. He held it in front of Q's bent figure, brow furrowed forward.

When Isiah left, Bornes thought it was for good. He went to his knees, not really sure he could walk anywhere without passing out in the middle of nowhere and probably in the wrong position to protect his eyes.
He looked down at the ground, wondering if he could gid a hole with his fingers. Just when he was considering using what remained of his plastic glasses as a shovel, Isiah came back with a jacket and held it in front of him.
"What's this for?"
That was probably a stupid question, but he couldn't help himself.

"Cover your face. It's military so it's opaque. You'll have a little shade, at least." He thought it'd be fairly obvious, but... Q was a little slow right then. He couldn't expect a lot out of a man who'd been hurt by Kaegan like he had.

Bornes looked up at Isiah with a blank expression on his face, mouth hanging open.
Oh. OH.
Why didn't I think of that?
He took the jacket from Isiah and cradled it in his own hands, looking down at it, then brought it to his face and smelled the inside of it. Body odor. But it was Isiah's, and that was sort of comforting. In a weird way. Totally not homosexual at all.
He took the jacket from his face and looked back up to Isiah.
"I don't think I can walk it without passing out in the middle," he said quietly, as if it wasn't obvious. Then his brain seemed to start warming up a bit. He still wasn't all here, but the key had just started the ignition in the cold, at least.
"If we start walking toward the shelter won't they see us? Won't Kaegan punish us again? I don't know the rules...."

"So long as it isn't in camp.." He walked over to Q, taking the 'I can't walk' admission as an invitation to lift him. He did so gently, walking in a twenty foot perimeter around the camp, footsteps following. "I can try to find it if you give me basic directions, Q."

Bornes shivered during and for some time after Isiah picked him up.
After he was in Isiah's arms, he gave his stomach some time to adjust to the change, as well as his head. He'd become lightheaded. It took a minute.
"I don't know." That answered didn't really make any sense. "I think we're being followed." He took a breath through his mouth, stifling a cough. He grasped the coat in his hands. It would be sunrise soon. He wasn't sure exactly when, but soon.
"Northeast. But they're following us, I think."
Had he just forgotten that he had answered only a few seconds a go?

Isiah groaned, heading northeast. "They'll follow until we get far away from camp." He heard their boots as well, footsteps truding along until he passed the northern perimeter where a line of people waited, eyes following him as he went northeast in the direction Q had directed him.

Not long after, the sun's rays broke over the horizon, and Bornes took a deep breath, putting his face under Isiah's coat. He felt so helpless. He would've even felt like a child, but he didn't remember how that felt.
He was pretty sure he was more structured and stronger as a child than he was now. But that didn't matter.
"Won't you lose rank or something for helping me?"
Everything in him still hurt somehow. But he'd stopped shivering, at least, and he felt like he was feeling a bit better... Mentally, anyway. Aside from his headache.
He wondered if he could sleep like this. It was hot under Isiah's jacket. But at least it smelled decent.

Isiah trudged onward, following boot tracks toward the shelter that they'd spoken of. He wandered off the path once or twice just to find it again, sometimes following Kaegan's, sometimes Q's, sometimes Janes footprints. It was a few hours before he came upon the place, kicking up the manhole cover to walk down into it, Q in his arms.

Bornes didn't think he could fall asleep in the arms of Isiah. He felt too uncomfortable. It was going to be three hours.
At some point he remembered saying thank you again, but probably got no answer in return. Or if he did, he didn't pay attention to it. He spent most of his time trying to sleep, and failing. So he ended up counting things. Replaying memories in his mind. Wondering when his suffering would be over, when his gut would stop hurting.
Not soon enough, Isiah had reached the shelter. The relief was almost immediate once he was covered in the basement, the temperature lower by minute degrees.
He took the jacket from his face, looking about, squinting a bit. "Thank you," he said again.
He wondered if he could stand. His legs had long a go fallen asleep. His feet were probably jello. He decided to not bring it up, leave it to Isiah to figure out what he was going to do.
"Look at all the food," he said, guilt-ridden. He wouldn't dare touch any of it now. At least not for a few weeks, anyway.
"What if Kaegan comes here?"

Isiah gently laid Q down once they'd arrived, his arms thumping with insistent ache from carrying the boy so long. He set Q's a** down on an empty shelf, resting his back up against a wall, rubbing his biceps for a minute second before dropping his hands to his sides. "You're welcome," he huffed, quickly and quietly as to not make a big deal about it. He sat down across from him, eyes adjusting to the darkness much more slowly than Bornes' had.
"If Kaegan comes..." He paused. This was technically not within camp. Did he have the right to feed an exile and shelter one outside of his jurisdiction?... "There are two of us, and one of him."
He would kill Kaegan if he had to. That was the strength of his resolve. If he could, he would, and hopefully before he managed to get hurt or let Bornes get hurt. He knew he couldn't beat Kaegan- or at least, that's what he thought- he remembered the broken arm he'd suffered at his Alpha's hands years and years ago.
Yet the thought weighed heavy in his mind. Between the two of them... All he needed was a distraction. Just a second or two to snap a neck.
He gave a long sigh, rubbing his forehead. "We'll do what we have to."

Bornes gave a groan as he was set down, his legs hurting, the pins and needles stretching from his feet to his legs uncomfortably. He'd have to deal with it for now- it wasn't as if he could do anything about it.
There's two of us and one of him.
Bornes gave a light scoff. "Oh yeah, that's real funny, Isiah," he thought to himself. He instead said something much less sarcastic outloud. "I can't do much of anything like this."
He looked about the room, at the food that had been picked at by Kaegan, noticing the missing things. His hands went to his arms as if he were cold, and he suddenly felt very, very awkward.
Kaegan had kicked Bornes out of the settlement, and the first place he seeks shelter is the very place he had betrayed the Alpha however many times. Good going, Judas.
He let out a sigh, his feet fidgeting in hope to get rid of the pins and needles. It wasn't working. "Do I keep my rank if I've been banished like this?"
Oh. What a dumb question, Bornes. Well. Maybe not a dumb question. But certainly asked at a peculiar time.
