He moved back slightly his sword swinging down to block the strike at his side. His arm tensing up to brace for the shock that was to come. Ryu moved to push the sword back, to force the attacker away from him.

Aliya allowed her sword to be knocked aside and rather than being pushed back she twirled with the movement closer to Ryu so that she was standing nearly right up against his chest. While she was blocking his view of directly below him, she twisted her foot around one of his ankles and pulled, trying to trip him up.


Elberon nodded. "I see. I didn't know Lord Elrohir's mother was in the area ... come to think of it, I don't believe I've ever heard anyone mention her. Not surprising, I suppose, considering how short a time they've been here, but still. Interesting. Tell me, what is she like? Did she come here for a purpose or was it some miraculous coincidence?"

Well, now it was hard to not hold information from him. Lin had to think about that carefully, because she didn't want Serenity to go away. Even though she was sure Elberon was going to do what he had been doing since she met him.

Ask questions.

"Well... it was chance, she's been out of the land for a long while visiting his brother Gion. And.... she's very nice, but she's.. not so shy but she's not so certain about strangers."

Ryu was to his feet quickly and having her roll and run gave him that time to do so. His sword crossed before him he took two steps forward letting her close the rest of the distance bringing it down towards her shoulder just as he thought she was entering his range.

Aliya knocked Ryu's sword to the side easily and moved in towards his chest with the hilt, intent on either knocking him over or knocking the breath out of him.


Elberon's eyes grew wide, and he looked at Lin in mock shock.

"No!" he exclaimed, sounding very much as if he were sincere. "You can't be serious! Grumpy elves?!"

Then, in all sincerity, he added, "But I don't see why meeting new elves would make them grumpy towards her. Or anyone, for that matter."

"You haven't met some grumpy elves have you?" Lin asked, "They don't like when different things come along, and they get grumpy because they're not use to it. So you have to get them use to it and they stop being grumpy. That or try and sweeten them but that I'm told doesn't work as well. Sometimes you have to just tell them to stop being grumpy, but sometimes that makes them grumpier...."

She paused for a moment and thought of what else.

"And they say mean things about those different things, well I dn't know if they do, but it sounds like it, but I can't understand what the grumpy elf I know says because I don't understand him. I'm trying though."

Well, as they say, go with the flow was the first thought that came to Ryu's mind. He took hold of her elbow, actually holding it tightly to pull her forward by that arm so he could knee her in the stomach. However there was the slight problem of the hand trying to push him back if worse came to worse they just might both end up on the ground.

Oh, merde! was Aliya's only thought as she tried to suck in her stomach to avoid the blow. Unfortunately, it meant that she hit her chin off Ryu's shoulder, and she lost her balance. Since she had been leaning towards Ryu in the first place, that was the way she ended up falling.


Elberon looked at Lin scrutinizingly. "So you're saying that there is something different about Serenity, and because of it there are people who don't like her?" he asked, trying to pick through her words. "What sort of thing could it be, that someone would be like that?"
