(Strange men....)

"Mm," Nari grunted. She raised her hands behind her head and yawned. "But so long as she's stuck over there, that's not my top concern... Sabe's nasty fall a few minutes ago didn't go unnoticed by her, and she glanced over at the bent portal machine. "We need to figure out a way to reach Koji. And before that," she looked at Sabe with genuine seriousness all of a sudden, "you need to tell me who that man is."

(What's so strange about these guys? lol )

Sabe fumbled for a bit trying to think of who she was referring to, probably the one formerly chained to the table. "Oh, him? Uh... if you're talking about the vamp elf, Waffle covered some of it before you smacked her with the rod. But as far as I know? He had been in the gang before me and possibly Waffle. His best skill was collecting information. He was alright, but he would disappear out of the blue for who knows what reason and come back like nothing happened. He left for good after a series of squabbles with Luciano, who has a grudge against vampires."

Again, Sabe's bluntness caught her off guard. She blushed a little, realizing that not everything Waffle said came from her backside. 'Whoops,' she thought and almost chuckled. She didn't need to think about that anymore and pushed it to the back of her mind. "That explains his ability to infiltrate and make such a clean getaway, I suppose... Since we can't use your portal to follow-- and I guess that would make sense seeing that we don't even know where he took Koji-- we might have to wait until we hear from Koji," she spoke her thoughts aloud, stretching in the process. She ran her good hand through her tangled hair and frowned as she continued, "But I hate to rely on such an unreliable method of tracking. Is there no other way?" As she tried to rack her brain, she began pacing in a small circle.

Koji remembered faltering in and out of consciousness for a few seconds, feeling the somewhat familiar pull of another shadow portal. There were voices but nothing discernible before he blacked out again. More voices and the feeling of a damp cloth on his forehead woke him back up. Koji opened his eyes to try and figure out where he was, and immediately regretted it. He let out a cry of discomfort as his eyes were assaulted by the light coming into the room and raised his arm up to cover them. The voices seemed concerned but he couldn't quite make out what they were asking at the moment. Someone had removed his glasses, and he didn't know why or who or even where he was. The disorientation led to panic and he tried getting up only to have hands grab at him to try and get him to lay back down. "Get off me!" He started yelling, eyes still squeezed shut as he struggled against the hands.

Katsumi was small, and not strong enough to settle Koji down on her own. luckily for her, Twi had heard the ruckus and came into the room to help. he grabbed Koji's glasses and slipped them onto his head carefully, after struggling to get a clean opening.

"better, Koji?" he asked in a grunting low voice. "relax, your safe. we're in the Temple in Zen Gardens."

Koji stopped flailing when he heard a familiar voice and opened his eyes when he felt his glasses back on his face. It took him a minute to register what was going on. He remembered falling through the shadow portal into his room, 'How the hell did I get to the Zen Gardens?' Koji turned to Twi and looked him up and down. He seemed to have cleaned up a bit which came as a relief. "Oh.. um. Sorry," he said to the girl who had been trying to calm him down. "I'm just a little confused." He rubbed at his temples and turned back to Twi. "I'm glad I got you out of there before things got too bloody, but... how did we end up here?"

He rested his head on his left hand as we watched Nariana pace around. Only a little into the morning and already they have two people, three rather, to account for. "If he had his earpiece with him, it would be extremely easy to find him...but it's weird to be carrying it around this early in the morning," Sabe chipped in.

After a while, nothing else came to his mind. He sighed. "It's probably a lost cause looking for them. Koji might come back on his own, but he's probably aware that he's in some hot water right now. Twi will not come back but then again his loyalty is a revolving door."

(**** I pressed backspace, and the page went back, deleting my first post....)

Still pacing around, Nari clenched her hands into fists. "So there really isn't anything we can do at this point... D-mn!" she hissed and gritted her teeth. Situations like these drove her crazy. She always found a way to get what she wanted, but this time she really was just stuck. Letting out another grunt of frustration and throwing her hands in the air, she stopped her pacing as that thought sank in. Sighing in defeat, she dropped her arms and said, "If we can't fix this, then we might as well regroup..." Suddenly mustering up the most innocent face she possibly could, she turned to Sabe and asked with puppy dog eyes, "Do you feel like cooking?" Her sudden change in moods probably seemed a little scary, especially considering that she beat someone up not too long ago.

Nariana's little outburst-turned-niceness made alarm bells sound off in his head. He looked at her, completely confused. "May I ask why, first?"

In response to Sabe's question, Nari's stomach spoke before she could. A loud gurgle erupted, and she quickly flung a hand in a futile attempt to muffle it. "That's why," she said in a dramatic tone as she frowned with the puppy look.

He groaned at the melodrama but got out of bed anyway. "Fine, I'll do it." he said as he looked for a shirt to put on. "...but what do you want?"

As soon as Sabe groaned, a small but noticeable smirk made its way to Nari's face. 'Victory,' she thought triumphantly. "Hmm," she thought for five seconds before coming to a decision. "Pancakes are good... Warm, fluffy pancakes," she said matter-of-factly as she pointed in the air with her bad hand. Hissing, she retracted it and grumbled to herself for a moment. "While you cook, I'm gonna go doctor on this. Come on," she waved to Sabe with her good hand as she walked into the hallway toward the stairs.

Koji_Mitsukai

Twi had to think for a moment, sort of gazing at his former comrade solemnly before speaking.

"I kidnapped you. " he said. "or rather, that's going to be the story when you return to headquarters, and you better stick with it. I know a Shadow Portal when I see one, Koji -- it sits on the fence of my two specialties, Shadow Magic and Portal-Mastery."

the elf sighed and sat down, and Katsumi bowed and left the two to be alone.

"I know I... I havn't always been the most loyal co-worker. truth is, I have been a Vampire since long before I ever joined the Kuro Gang." he knew his testimony would stun and possibly hurt Koji. but he had to tell him the truth now; he owed that to him. "the reason I have always looked so young is because I was turned when I was only 7 decades old. in reality I am over 2 centuries. I had formed many friendships and alliances with other Vampires, and have been trying to work my way up the social ladder in those circles, and when I was invited to join the Black Ops of the Kuro Gang.... I accepted mostly out of curiosity."

now, his eyes began to water, and he looked down at the wood floor.

"the conflicts became too much, and on the night that Skotti tried to infiltrate a Vampire party alone, I was trying to do damage control. in the process my cover was blown to a few members -- namely Waffle, Skotti and Luciano -- and I was given an ultimatum; abandon my ties to the Vampires or face down the barrel of a gun. I decided it was time to leave.

"that's around the time Shandrel and I both dissapeared. we went on the run, and since then Luc has been out for my blood, pardon the pun." Twi tried to lighten the mood. though mysteriously he was rubbing a ring finger that had no ring on it. he seemed to be lost in thought.

Koji stayed silent for a while after Twi explained himself, not sure how to respond. When he finally spoke, he let out a soft chuckle devoid of humor. "You know, that's kind of funny. The whole reason I joined was to help get back at vampires." He wasn't sure why he wasn't mad, maybe it was the heartfelt way Twi was telling him, or the fact he had saved his life multiple times now, or maybe he was just getting tired of holding a grudge when it obviously wasn't getting him anywhere, but for some reason he wasn't angry about the deception. "I know that's it's stupid and a ridiculous romanticized idea, but when they recruited me, I saw the gang as like... I dunno, a vigilante group. Running things behind the scenes in Durem, keeping the vampires in check." Koji laid back down and rubbed at his eyes. "That's what my brother had been doing, and they were coming to recruit him but he died before joining... I thought, since they were such a large group, I'd be able to help keep more people from winding up like my brother. That's what I kept telling myself when they had my infiltrating places and doing assassinations for training before I was assigned to the black-ops group." He turned his head to look over at Twi again. "With all that we've been doing though, I'm starting to realize how clouded my judgement was. Not to mention everything going on. Bombing a public place and starting all out war without caring who gets involved." Koji sighed and sat back up. "It's true isn't it? What you're saying about the Don? I don't know how it's possible that you know, not to mention how or why you he would be doing it.. but I somehow don't feel like you were just stringing us along."

(Typing this is going to be like typing out a pancake recipe lol. I have one bookmarked to use as a reference, but I'm using artistic license with some parts lol.)
Nariana

Walking behind Nariana, Sabe was still a little confused. He went down the stairs and into the kitchen to make sure there was everything there for pancakes. Thankfully for the actual pancakes the only substitution needed for his pancakes was milk in place of almond milk. The sauce on the other hand...

Now that he figured it wasn't some setup and the ingredients were actually there and usable, he looked for a bowl and skillet and a few other things.
