Not a big fan of it either, but I try to refrain from hating on it publicly because some people really love the series and I don't want them to feel like they can't express their love for it. sweatdrop

I'm not a huge fan either, I do read them and take them for what they are. I mean, so long as kids are reading and not pressing their nose against a TV, hopefully that will springboard them to other books.

Come what may...I haven't even read the books, so I'm not even able to hate on it properly, nor would I if I had read the books. =/ I was just expressing my extreme dislike for for what it seems EVERYONE is so obsessed with right now... =/ I will love you until my dying day...

Then just say you hate the hype, not the series. Different things, makes more sense.
Just a personal thing, I get annoyed when people say they hate a series they have never read. Even I dislike all the crazy hype.

I don't even know what you guys are talking about, so the hype can't be all that world-consuming. XD

Oh-ho-ho-ho. ;>> So I was SURROUNDED by the freaking obsessed girls and stated openly how I found Bells's relationships were unhealthy and she should get out while the going was still good. Not only did I have the obsessed Jake/Edward fans stare at me, but my RL best friend Caran who is only obsessed with the vampire race (or so it's coming off to me with her unhealthy standing on Edward's side because "he's a hot vampire").
But I made all of them feel intimidated by me. ;>> Some had their boyfriends with them, I gave my best intense stare and watched them cling closer to their boy or friends. Several tried to improve their appearance around me.
 I wouldn't know why. ;>>
And I'd already had to yell at someone in another guild about expressing a hate towards another set of books even though they'd never read it. X-D *won the argument*

Meriko I don't even know what you guys are talking about, so the hype can't be all that world-consuming. XD I've had the unpleasant experience of walking near some very strange girls gushing over how awesome Edward was at a book store. Truthfully, I found the love triangle dull and cliche, gimme the secondary characters, they could be far more interesting.
I guess I just spend too much time in book stores so I see all the signs about it.

I dislike the hype for the Twilight series so strongly... @_@; but hey, at least the teenagers are reading that instead of trashier stuff, hey?
...although it kind of does bug me that vampires have been changed so completely. If I understand correctly, back in the day it'd be all
"HOMYGOD IT'S A VAMPIRE RUNNNNNN"
and today it's all
"Aw, you just need someone to understand you. 'sides, fangs are hot~"
(which they may be, but people need to keep in mind that they're supposed to be for, you know... puncturing you and draining all your blood, hey? transforming you into the walking dead, doomed to an endless, joyless existence until someone stakes you?)
which is kinda funny, since you don't see people being like that as much over other forms of undead, such as zombies.
...although I guess I shouldn't begrudge people their romance novels. As has been said, at least they're reading...

It was my little brother and cousin who read the books and told me that I should read them. I had run out of books to read while in Hawaii so I figured i'd give it a shot and read the first book. I read the first book in a day, mostly because it was an easy read and also because once i start reading i usually keep on reading, no matter the book. I liked the first book enough to get the other two book a week later and finished those within a few days as well.
I've been hanging out at the Offical Twilight Thread recently and .. OMG... some people are just so... *sigh* I dont even know how to say it.
They make commetns like "if Edward dies, im going to lock myself in my room and never come out and be all depressed, etc etc etc.."
So i respond with "THESE ARE FICTIONAL PEOPLE! THEY SHOULD NOT EFFECT YOUR REAL LIFE! IF YOU GET DEPRESSED OVER AN ENDING OF A BOOK, YOU NEED HELP" ok so maybe i didnt do that in all caps but it was something simliar ^^;
i like the books for their entertainment value but i wouldnt rank it as a top 10 book i've read honesty.

Oh man, that's a prime opportunity for outright meanness there. @_@ <3 Not as mean as the internet can get, certainly (that'd just be a waste of ammo), but perhaps snippy remarks like
"You realise, of course, that there are plenty of people out there who've lost real friends or loved ones, and are productive members of society."
or
"Oh, okay. Have fun in there, we'll be... oh, I don't know, maybe functioning."
or
"Oh good, maybe now there'll be parking available at the mall again."

People threaten legal action, murder and suicide over pixels. Hearing that people threaten social withdrawal over a fictional character just doesn't even faze me anymore. ._.

i pretty much ignore the people that go "OMG EDWARD IS SO HAWT!".. i dont even respond or comment. i try to have real conversations about the series.
oh and if people say "are you team Edward or Team Jakob?" i say "Im team Stephanie.. i'll be happy with whatever she chooses since its her story".
