What Cassie said had a lot of depth and personal meaning. It really echoed with what Professor Prince had said about heroes not wanting others to suffer the tragedy that they had-
'He would look better naked, though'
Hartley fell off his stool and cracked his jaw on the countertop.
"GAH!"

Instantly, Teddy reacted. He ran over, scooped Hartley up and put him back in his seat. Dating Billy had taught him how to handle situations like this.
He returned to Wallace, ruffling his hair again. "Do you think he's a firecrotch?"

"I'd love to find out. I'd unbutton his damn pants with my teeth so I'd have a spot on view."

"I'm fine, I just-"
"Here. Sign this."
Zinda slipped a form under Hartley's hands.
"What is this?"
"It says ya won't sue me for slipping and falling in here. Gotta keep my bases covered. With all the millionaire orphans and whatnot in here? I gotta stay on top of my liabilities."
Hartley signed the form, looked at Cassie and shrugged.
"Trust me, my parents won't sue. They hardly give a crap about anything I do."
"Don't care, just need the sigs on file. Thanks, sweetie."
Zinda patted him on the head and got back to delivering food. Hartley blinked a couple times. He missed the rest of the conversation between Teddy and Wallace.

"Teddy. Be honest with me. Do you think I'm ready for a boyfriend?" Wallace leaned forward, resting his chin in the palm of his hand. His food was set down before him, and he noticed that it was a large piece of chocolate cake. Perfect. "I mean...I see you and Billy...and...I just...I want that. I never thought I would because I like making out with people and not having to worry about anything else. But...I want someone to love me, and take care of me. I want someone to ...just be with me no matter what. I want someone to share secrets with." Wallace looked over at Teddy as the waitress plopped down a ******** of food. "Holy crap."

Cassie frowns..
" I take it things still aren't going so well between you and parents huh?"
She looked at him concerned... Mind you Cassie and her mom didn't always get along but she still knew that they loved her.

"I didn't say tha-"
Hartley let out a sigh.
"They're in Germany for some publisher's conference. So basically, I would have been on my own for Thanksgiving anyway. Not like I care or anything. Tired of them controlling every iota of my life anyways. That's what's so great about this school. They're not here."
And boy, what a great job he'd made of it on his own...
'Once a villain, always a villain.'
Hartley shook his head clear and shouted over to Teddy and Wallace.
"Hey! What time is this magic thing?!"

Right outside of the Hero High football field, crowds were beginning to file into the stadium, readying for the big Magical Competition! Many of the kids in the stands were not even mages themselves, but they knew they were going to get a treat of a show from those kids who were.
Billy gave him mom a big hug and his dad shook his hand.
"Good luck son." Dad said.
"We'll be rooting for you dear!" Mom added.
"Good luck bro!" One annoying little brother said, slapping Billy a high-five and took off with his other sibling into the crowd.
Billy turned around and started looking for any sign of his friends and Teddy.
