Zero Omega hilaroma It seems this crisis is just beginning. Hiro's harddisk died this morning. So all of the data for three different group presentations (including one that I am working on with him and is due tomorrow) was completely lost. He's pretty upset and so am I....I don't know what I can do really. It's upsetting that I can't do anything to help. sad You guys have no backed up data anywhere? And the HDD isn't reading at all? In any case, explain to your teacher that you can't recover the data at all and plead for some kind of extension. Good luck. sweatdrop heart He has a backup from sometime this summer, but nothing recent enough. I wish we could get an extension, but the class's schedule is already so tight as it is. There isn't a day where he could fit us in. confused

Peppermint Elf Streamjumper Too pissed to explain right now... Just google "sony XCP DRM Rootkit" and you'll get what you need to know. I really don't care. Sony music knowingly put malware on my machine, no matter how much they protest otherwise. It may have been a third party developing the software, but one of Sony's people ran the project and the software was custom-made. The only reason there's a recall is because they got hit harder than they thought. I ain't buying any of their CDs ever again... I'll deal with it.

That seems a bit illegal to me, for them to put something on the disks that will mess with your system like that... As yet, the regulating authorities are only slapping em on the wrist.

Zero Omega Did you learn of it the easy way or hard way? sweatdrop Meaning, see it in a news article or get hit by it? Regardless, it was a really poor and ******** up way of Sony to do things. I knew about it in advance, but I suspect that Kane played a disc on my computer, since I don't recall buying any of their recent discs and have been careful since I found out... But yeah, it was on my compy.
