Toby's eyes went momentarily wide and his head jutted forward.
"...do? What do you mean, what did we do?"
Dari queued up another shot. "He also filled the house with smoke. 'Smoke.'" He used air quotes. "Had he ever done that to you before?

"He's gone," Henry said. "What did you guys do to get rid of him?" Smoke? He shook his head. "Nah, no smoke. He did up our walls all in blood though..."

"Ah. That's... interesting," Toby said, "We didn't get any of that."
"But we did get this," Dari said, showing a clip of one door opening and closing, rather than all of them as it had been at the time. "And this." An audio clip of Alexander telling them to get out, made appropriately fuzzy and muffled. "And this." The nursery, completely overturned.
"We don't 'do' anything," Toby said with a smile, "No gris gris or incense or crucifixes. We find that many spirits don't seem to know that they're dead, and can be... convinced to move on once they stop hating you." Or, once they had made friends with your own ghost.

"Really? That's...that's good. I'm glad you were able to help him." Henry smiled. "He kept asking for his mother. It was a serious downer." He sighed. "I'm glad he's not here to do that," he gestured to the picture with the nursery. "When the baby's here."

"That was after we talked about his mother being dead," Toby admitted. granted pretty much, everything had been. He'd sapped it right off of Dari somehow.
Ginny was white, leaning on the table, not touching her drink, and staring at the screen. Dari offered her a smile. After a moment, she smiled back.
"So let us know if anything else happens? We can always come back," Toby said, smiling and nodding. "But I really do think all's well."

"Oh, yeah. He wouldn't react well to that," Henry nodded in understanding. He wrapped an arm around his wife. "Its gone now," He said. "We're okay, love."

Ginny leaned into her husband and held his arm around her. She smiled and nodded up to him. "Yeah." But the thought of a dead child looking for its mother never got any easier.

Wedding planning had a lot more involved than Maia could have ever imagined. She'd selected color swatches, but she wasn't sure she knew who all to invite. She went to Toby and offered them to him. "Do you like these?" she asked. Shed selected a light blue for the bridesmaid dresses.

Toby had asked about wedding planners, but he had also expressed his distrust of someone else taking such a big part in this most important event. That might have been his mistake, because Maia hadn't seemed impressed.
He took the swatches and looked through them. "Yeah! these go well together. Did you bring them together yourself?"

"I had some help," Maia admitted. She'd asked friends--specifically Luca, for his opinion. "I'm going to ask for Dari's thoughts later. Do you have a guest list in mind?"

"I've been trying, but I feel like I'm leaving people out." He showed her the list he had compiled of his best friends, his favorite coworkers, and a particular cat sidhe. "I'm afraid we might cause an uproar if words gets out around the office that we're not inviting everyone."

"We could have a reception here and invite everyone," Maia suggested, looking over the list. "And take those closest to us to Oregon. Do you think Kevin would like to come?" The kelpie was family, after all. "I've asked Annie to be my bridesmaid," she added. "So we ought to invite her boyfriend, too."

"Ooh, we should have it at the dance hall," Toby suggested. It'd be a bit expensive to rent but it'd be nice. It'd mean something. "Hm. I don't know. I can call him? I feel like a teenager might be bored."

The dance hall sounded lovely. Maia smiled at Toby. "I think that'd be wonderful," she said. "We can invite everyone to that."
"You might be right. We can always invite him to the reception."

"Well that might be boring too, right? A bunch of old folks dancing? I don't know, I'll call him," Toby said with a laugh. He pulled out his phone and dialed Kevin. He might as well find out now, right? Invitations would have to go out semi-soon anyway.
