I have no idea why we are actually discussing this but that's not all true.
- Radar was actually first thought up by a German named Heinrich Hertz when he was investigating radio waves (hence measured in Hz) and the first radar machine was developed by a Scottish guy named Sir Robert Alexander Wattson-Watt. It was Britain who patented the invention in 1935.
- America did develop the first atomic bomb but they failed several times and only managed it when directly helped by Albert Einstein - a German who fled Hitler and went to America - hence the quote "If I had known that my work would lead to the devastation of the atom bomb, I'd never have lifted a finger."
- I don't know anything about proximity fuses or piston engines but America probably did invent those.
But I think you're still underestimating the little people. Britain is known as a land of inventors. Here's some other things "the little people" did during the war...
- invention of the bouncing bomb - we destroyed the dam walls that America's "successful" air raids couldn't destroy
- destruction of the Bismarck. If you look it up it was the British Navy, RAF and a coupkle of planes borrowed from the Polish Air Force who sunk her and she didn't mess up Britain for months because she sunk on her first mission! Although admittedly she did sink the HMS Hood which was one of our best ships.
- AND AMERICA HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE INVENTION OF PENICILLIN. Fleming (English) invented it and Florey and Chain (English
and Oxford students) improved it so it could be used in the war although they never really developed enough of it for general use.
- I know nothing about the Navohoe Wind Talkers so I won't comment on that but I do know that America did not give Britain free guns and ammo. They charged us back every penny (and with interest) for anything Britain borrowed for the war effort.
- And Britain had nothing to gain from the war effort either. We hated Hitler and we went to war to protect Poland - we only joined after Hitler had invaded.
- And the US Government did want to join in the war as they saw Hitler as a threat. The US People didn't as they didn't care about what happened in Europe. It's now known that Roosevelt LET THE JAPS BOMB PEARL HARBOUR ON PURPOSE.
Hang on, I'll send you a link for it. One sec.
Pearl Harbour AttacksThe US can't really claim the moral high ground when they let their own citizens die in order to join the War Effort. I admit they were desperate because Hitler was a threat and the American people refused to admit it but it's still out of order.
