Not really paying much attention to the females talking behind him, honestly he wanted to get this over with as soon as posible and people were distractions right now. Instead Dante was looking at the water with a frown on his face. He really didn't want to get wet and there was no boat for Shiva to carry them around on. 'Great how am I going to manage this?' He thought to himself with a frown. Shiva just swam around happily in the water chasing Goldeen and Magicarp.

Meowth meanwhile listened to the trainers talk for a bit before shaking his head as well. Even with traveling with Jesse for a while had given him some insight into the female mind, he still found them confusing. Instead he went over to where Dante was. "Please tell me we don't have to cross this."

"Sorry but we do. I am trying to figure out a way to stay dry while crossing though. I dont want to end up cold and wet."

Not expecting a response like that at all, Raimundo jumped a little bit. "Gah, sorry! I didn't mean to offend you!" He paused. "Did you have a bad run-in with a Fire Pokemon or something? Is that why you don't like them?" Nina recalled her incident with Nitro, when he nearly ate her... But that was not what fueled her disliking of that type. "Well, not excatly. See, right after Sabrina had been... well, you know. Shot," --she winced a little upon saying the word-- "she said more or less to go and find Ho-Oh, and that he'd be able to revive her. Well... I never did."

The boy was silent for a time. "So... you don't like Fire-types because they share a type with Ho-Oh, and that reminds you of your sister. Is that it?"
She nodded. "That's about the size of it."
"So, why don't you pay Ho-Oh a visit, then? Maybe that can help to alleviate some of what you're feeling."
"I'd love to, Rai... But, Ho-Oh only appears before people that possess one of its feathers. Not only do I not have one, but I don't know how to get one."
"Well," Raimundo said, "you could just wait for him to fly over Ecruteak, since that's where its nest is. Maybe when it's flying, one of its feathers will drop."

"Yeah, but what are the odds that I'll be in Ecruteak at the time that he flies over it? I know where a couple other legendary Pokemon roost, but I've never seen them." This was due to the fact that she had never gone looking for them to begin with. "I just... I don't know. It could have been ages since someone spotted it last."

Raimundo wasn't sure how to respond to her last comment, so he remained quiet. They arrived back at the Pokemon Center some ten minutes later, and went back into the dormitory.

"And just WHERE have the both of you been off to?!"

"Whitney!" Nina excalimed, genuinely surprised to see her awake. "Nowhere! We just went out for a little walk, that's all!"
"A 'little walk?' Like, is that what you're calling it these days?!"
The girl was caught entirely off-guard for a response like that. "Whoa, whoa! What?!"
"Oh, don't you, like, even dare to act all innocent! I totally see the way that lustful you look at him. I knew it was like, just a matter of time before the two of you, like, engaged in promiscuous activities!"

Lustful? Promiscuous? Activities? Where had Whitney learned those words from-- a book?

No, she was too much of an idiot to be able to read.

"Whitney, calm down. I promise you, Nina and I didn't do anything. I got up and was getting dressed to go for a walk because I couldn't sleep, and I guess I woke Nina up too, so she went with me. That's all, I promise." His voice was unusually smooth and coaxing. When she was confronting Nina, Whitney had had her arms crossed against her chest, but after Raimundo spoke, she lowered her arms-- and her defenses."Hm. Well, like, don't think I'm not gonna keep an eye on you two... Especially you, Nina."

What the hell! Why's she singling me out? I don't 'look lustfully' at Rai!

...Well, not that often, anyway. I mean, definitely not more than once or twice every thirty seconds. Three times, tops.

"Wait. Why are you even awake, Whitney?" Nina asked. "I thought you didn't get up 'til at least ten."

Whitney shrugged. "I couldn't sleep."

"Master Giovanni, sir!" cried out a scientist as he watched the man stroll through the lab once more, "Come look at this!" The man turned and moved over to the station the scientist was placed.

"What's the problem, Dr. Lyte?" Giovanni placed both hands behind his back and stood straight, gazing at the screen, then down at the scientist.

"W-well, it's hard to say.." he whispered, tick-tacking away on the keys at the console, "it seems that someone tried to hack into our files from a remote server." He flinched, holding his arms up and cringing in fear as if he were about to be hit. When the hit never came, Lyte smiled and went back to tapping on the computer.

Giovanni turned sharply and grabbed Lyte by his beard, harshly. His piercing eyes looked into the doctor's, as if he were staring into his very soul. "You will find where it came from!" he let go forcefully, shoving the doctor away, "You will find who it was! And you will find any files that may have been open!" He turned to leave, but paused when he heard Lyte speak again.

"We figured that's what you would wish, sir, and took the liberty of researching it, sir." His tacking on the keys echoed along with the other computers in the room. Glancing occasionally to see what Giovanni was doing, Lyte brought up the files on the main screen. "It seems that the server was located in Goldenrod City, and that it was hacked by a..." he chuckled and stroked his beard playfully, "a very inexperienced hacker. He left a trail of the files he opened and closed. I think you'd be most interested in this one, sir..."

"Oh. Well, of course," Nina said, feeling a little dumb. Only two things seemed to rouse Whitney from sleep-- the inability to, or she grew hungry. The latter instance seemed to occur more frequently than the first.

"Well, since we're all up already, how about we go get some breakfast or something?" Raimundo suggested. "I'm not sure about you two, but after being awake as long as I have, I've gotten to feeling kind of hungry." Both girls agreed, but Nina and Rai headed off into the main room of the Center while Whitney stayed behind in the dormitory to change into her normal clothes. She headed out to meet with her friends a few minutes later, to find the both of them standing near the vending machine, deciding what to purchase.

"Hmm, the pancakes seem like a good choice."
"Ah, maybe. I wonder if they have waffles though."
"Then again, fruit's probably better-- it's healthier, I guess."
"I'm not a big fan of fruit. I really only like peaches and pineapples, neither of which I see."
"Oh really? You're hard to please."
"And you're so dumb that you make a Magikarp look like an Alakazam."
"Well, you're so slow that you make Slowpoke look like Alakazam."
"Really? Well, you're so ugly that you make Gyarados look like Milotic."

Raimundo raised his eyebrows and smiled a little. "That hurts, Nina. Really." The girl returned the smile. "Sorry. I guess I just don't take other people's feelings into account. I'm so heartless."

"SO! Like, we're getting food, right?! Whitney exclaimed, practically shoving both of them out of the way of the machine, so as to seperate them for five seconds.

The man's eyes widened when he saw the name of the file. Giovanni R. seemed to reflect in his eyes. "He didn't delve...delve into the information, did he?" Giovanni asked, looking at Lyte. His voice seemed a bit shaky, but not to a pinnacle of being worried.

"No, sir. You encrypted that file yourself," Lyte stated, double-clicking the folder. A scrawl of numbers and symbols, combined with random letters, appeared on the screen. When he heard the sigh of relief from the Rocket head, Lyte glanced at him. "I will shave my beard when I meet the man who could unecrypt your file, sir."

"Don't worry your precious facial hair," Giovanni cooed, "The encryption is so complex, even the Government cannot hack it. You know what I am capab-" he paused when he heard a door slam. Everything in the labratory froze. "Bring up the cameras on the main screen," he ordered quietly. Every secruity camera that was set up around the Gym now transmitted its picture to the computer, in high definition. They were all clear except for the one labeled 'Gym Floor'. A young girl was walking about aimlessly, as if looking for the Gym Leader. "I shall return." He walked away briskly, before pausing, "Oh. Lyte. Get some popcorn...you're in for a show." Giovanni opened the door leading out of the Lab and headed to the Gym's Arena, meeting and battling his opponent on the floor instead of above in his office.

Eventually deciding on waffles, pancakes, and a couple blueberry muffins, the friends sat at a table in the room, making conversation as they ate. The setting vaguely reminded Nina of the cafeteria in her trainer school, back when she and Whitney were mortal enemies. Nina typically only ate with a few people at lunch, not because she wasn't a friendly person, but because most other people that attended the school were rude, with dreams in their heads bigger than they could hope to accomplish. There were a select few people, however, that Nina called her friends.

There was Christine, a girl fascinated by Flying-types. She had been friends with Nina since day one of the girl's school career, and was someone held in high regard. Ashley was another friend, who had an interest in cute Pokemon-- she was extremely similar to Nina in this aspect. Bethany, a Ground-type trainer, had known Nina since a young age, and then there was Anna and Stasi, a pair of twins; those girls trained Fire and Water Pokemon respectively, and were close with one another. She had other friends as well, such as Nicole, Lindsey, Jane, Catherine-- but she didn't speak with them as frequently.

In fact, it had been a very long while since she had spoken with any of them. I'll have to give them a call one day, she thought to herself.

"...na. ...ina. NINA!" The girl jumped a little at the sound of Whitney's voice. "Gah, what?! Sorry... I spaced out or something."
"I could kinda tell," Raimundo said. "I thought it was weird when you didn't respond when Whitney was insulting yo-- Ow!" He received a swift kick in the leg from Whitney, whom was on the opposite side of the table from him. "Shush, you."

A sixth of an hour later, Nina had finished her food, and dropped the paper plate she was eating off of into the trash bin; Raimundo and Whitney followed suit a couple of minutes later, throwing away their garbage. Nina gazed out the window, and saw that the sun was rising, but there were gray clouds forming in the sky.

"Ah, it looks like it's gonna rain soon," she commented. "Whatsay we head over to Olivine while the weather's still manageable?"

"Oh, you're gonna like, go back and try to beat Jasmine?" Whitney asked, unclipping Rio's Pokeball from her belt as the three of them walked outside. Nina nodded a little bit, snatching Krystal's Pokeball. "I plan to win, too." She grinned and released her Pokemon, getting on the Dragon's back. She watched as Raimundo hopped on the space in between Fearow's wings on his back and Whitney jumped onto Rio's back.

Krystal lifted up into the air as Fearow flapped its wings and began to hover, and Rio jumped into the air, pedaling its feet as if it were on a bicycle, allowing it to hover.

At the behest of their trainers, the Pokemon headed off to Olivine.

Train noticed the Meowth talking to Dante. She crouched down and stared at it for a moment with her cat-yellow eyes. "You can talk?" She asked. "But I thought only the Meowth that belonged to Jesse and James from Team Rocket could talk!" She wondered aloud.

She stood up again and looked at Dante. "Hey, what's your name?" She asked, tilting her head slightly to one side.

Ah! I'm all wet! Nooo!" Sunfire exclaimed, though to everyone other than Mag it sounded as 'Flare,' trying to shake off the water that somehow seemed to be staying on a little more than normal water. "Stupid WATER!"
"Chill out buddy it is no big deal." Mag consoled his pokemon. "Let's just pay it back now with an Ember attack!" Taking careful aim at the fish who was swimming rather close to the top of the water Sunfire let the small fireballs fly to where it appeared to be headed.

"Hm.." Linalee muttered thinking about what Dante had said about crossing the water. Maybe Cisashwi could somehow make a bridge or something since it was part ground type. "Maybe Cisashwi could make a temporary land bridge or something. She does know Magnitude and I've never actually tried it out. Think you could do it girl?" Linalee asked. "Oach!!" It said excitedly in response to the suggestion to use one of it's abilities.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, dear," his cool voice echoed through the Gym. He stayed hidden within the shadows for a moment, watching the girl jump slightly then look around where the voice was coming from. He stepped out into view, he was still somewhat consumed by shadows. Although, you could still make out his basic shape. "My name is Giovanni, and I am the leader of the Viridian City Gym. I take it you wish to challenge me?"

She nodded lightly, and gulped. "Y-yes. My na-name.." she seemed very shaken at how darkly lit the Gym was. Whenever she looked over at Giovanni, it seemed that all she could see were his eyes. "Jenni. My name is Jenni, from Celadon City." She gripped the bottom of her skirt and bit her lower lip. "I'm here to challenge you for m-my last Gym badge."

"Of course, dear." He snapped his fingers and light filled the Gym, bringing the two of them into full light. The golden buttons that adorned his suit seemed to shine brighter than usual. "We will have a battle consisting of two Pokemon apiece," he explained, "each in a one on one. How does that sound?" Giovanni slipped a hand into his pocket and unclipped a Pokeball with the other.

She nodded, taking a ball from the belt that was wrapped loosely around her waist. The girl took a moment to straighten her small green vest and took her free hand to 'iron' out any wrinkles in her shirt. Jenni then ran a hand through her short red hair. "I'll send out my..my Venusaur first..." With a flick of the wrist, a large blue creature appeared on the arena's floor. It was covered in warts and had a large red flower on its back, the petals adorned with white splotches.

"VEEENUSAUR!" it roared, slamming a foot onto the ground. Jenni flinched.

Giovanni's expression did not change at all when he was facing down the opposition. Ah, so she started with Bulbasaur? he thought with a smirk. "I'll use this one, then." He tossed a ball and revealed a large green dinosaur. A purple diamond-shape was at the center of his chest. Suddenly, sand burst from the opening on its body. The sand swirled around the Gym violently. "Tyranitar! Crunch!" Giovanni demanded.

She shook her head. "I'll have to m-make this sand disappear! Venasaur!" she called out to her partner, "Use Sunny Day!" Jenni seemed to be getting a bit of confidence in herself, but it was nothing spectacular. The center of the flower upon the plant Pokemon began to glow brightly. The sand enclosing them disappeared and the lights that illuminated the Gym began to glow so bright that the light bulbs were about to burst. Venasaur managed to also avoid the Crunch from his opponent, much to everyone's surprise.

"Tyranitar!" Giovanni barked, "Thrash attack!" The green dinosaur roared once more, then ran at Venasaur with his arms outstretched. Granted, they were very small arms, but they got the job done. Tyranitar landed a few punches onto his opponent's face, along with a massive slap from the tail.

Venasaur roared in pain, then slammed his front legs on the ground aggressively. "Use S-Solar Beam!" Jenni cried out.

Maven smiled to herself and with Vixy in her arms and Phyra at her side she continued to walk to Celadon City. Maven couldn't help thinking to herself how hard it was going to be to say good bye to Vixy. She was enjoying holding the little one as they walked.

"Girl with the Gengar!" a female voice cried out. "I have a Shuppet! Wanna trade?" A girl, about Mitsu age, was running her way, arm's failing about as she shouted her offer.

"No thanks. Ebony's a good pal of mine," Mitsu said politely once the girl had caught up. She wined a bit, but was persistent. "Please!?" she half shouted half whined eyeing Ebony in anticipation. The girl wore a rather lavished dress covered in ribbons. She was covered from head to toe in sparkling jewel's as well. "A no's a no. Sorry," she said once more turning around and headed off in the direction of the Poekmon Center.

"I said! I Want your Gengar!" she screamed. Mitsu turned around. "Look I said no. Go catch your own," she said calmly. The girl's persistance was getting on her nerves. "If I win I get Gengar!" she screeched. With more force than needed she slammed her Pokeball onto the Lavaridge Town floor. In a grand show of sparkles a Bellossom appeared from the Luxury Ball. "Bella!" it cheered.

"A Bellossom huh? I believe I know someone who has that Pokemon," Mitsu said tossing her Great Ball. Zyphyr appeared with a squwak ready for a fight. "Two on two," Mitsu said, "No items, and no switching." Once the rules were laid down she commanded Zyphyr to attack with an Aerial Ace.

The sandy, brown bird flew low to the gound then rose up slicing Bellossom with his left wing using his great momentum to cause a great amount of damage. "Bella!" she cried, "Use your Poison Powder!" Bella nodded before displaying a little dance then showering the field with the purple haze just as Ivy had done a few minutes ago. "Whirlwind!" Mitsu said as Zyphyr beat his wings blowing the haze away. "You're going to have to do better than that," she said looking at the girl.
