At the first signs of the mental probe the bird glanced at Matariel for just a moment before several simple thoughts appeared and started repeating. 'Open.... Door... and what seemed like Crossed-paths... or maybe two directions depending on how the mental images were interpreted' It's attention was back to Ishira, but not before Matariel would find her own mind being probed back from... somewhere else.

Ishira jump, being startled by the sound of crow wings and then seeing one land withing eye level of her. Her tears were still flowing down her cheeks but now that something was paying attention she again looked down and wiped them away. These crows were probably controlled by something and the last thing she needed was whatever enemy there was to see that she was crying over something as simple as a man walking away from her.... She glared through her shortened bangs at the animal and then tilted her head. It... Didnt feel real... but here it was right in front of her and damnit she was so close to leaving the town... What did this mean?
Kyuu was slightly shocked and she turned away before it could be seen... But then the confusion set in and she frowned. "The lady did not make him leave... I did with what i said. He left before she could explain anything. And hasnt his health been declining? As far as i have seen in the short time since he and the lady met up all i have seen is his health slowly but steadily getting worse... " Kyuu tried to think if he looked healthy at all to her but even his aura was not right when she felt it... How was that making himself better? She did not have enough time to think about it because suddenly she noticed the crow near the mother figure and her body stiffened. A growl grew fiercely in her throat and she took a step towards them, her wings spread wide and ready. "What is that damned thing?"

The bird looked at Ishira, hopping around a little bit before returning it's attention to her. It ignored Kyuu completely, and acted like it was ignoring Matariel, even if the mental noise from elsewhere continued to push at her mind.
The bird moved around a few times before shaking it's wing and letting several of the black feathers fall off, the feathers drifting slowly to the ground, only a slight breeze moving them towards Ishira as they fell. The bird glanced at the feathers then back at Ishira, tilting it's head to the side. It's look almost seeming inquisitive as it repeated the eye movements back to the feathers and then to Ishira.

Matariel was no novice at mind-reading. It's literally what she was created for. When she felt her mine being probed, she let a wicked grin show on her face, reached up to her headphones and spoke softly, but loud enough for Kyuu to hear.
"Whatever it is, it's not natural."
She removed her headphones, the loud, fast rhythm of the music pouring from the small speakers. Suddenly, whoever was peeping in her head would feel something akin to a hand reaching out mentally to grab and hold onto them. Matariel was keeping the 'channel' open, when it hit her. Every nearby person's thoughts flooded into her head. It brought her to her knees and she yelped, but she kept a mental hold on whoever was on the other side, funneling the thousands of thoughts through to them. It was a painful cacophony. She let her huge wings spread open, and that just amplified everything. The entire city's thoughts were pouring through her head, causing it to feel as if were about to split open, and hopefully transferring that feeling to her opponent.

The mind she gripped at resisted for several moments, but when Matariel started taking in the other minds everything changed. Rather then pushing her mind away she found her thoughts being clawed at, the hand that had been used to hold onto the mind would find itself being held by what felt like hundreds, maybe even millions of lesser minds, all pulling to hold onto the thoughts Matariel was showing it.
It would seem slow at first, a pulsing feeling appearing, only noticeable due to how many times it was being repeated in the minds of those with lesser willpower. The weakest of those would start to flicker out one by one. Several thoughts still slipped through, giving Matariel several images. 'Anger... Life where there was none before... Fear... Life returning to death... something akin to faith... Death to un-death'

The feathers flowed down towards her and her eyes flicked to them as she stepped out of there path. Most of her attention was still on the bird but it kept looking at the feathers like they were important for her to see. Breathing was seeming to get harder but she tried to not let it show at all. Something was not right with these things so something wasnt right with the feathers... Right? Her eyes drifted to the feathers again due to her human curiosity. The animal wanted her to pick it up, but she had fallen into traps like this before and had only survived them cause she was demon. Now she was human and couldnt risk it at all.
Kyuus growl was getting louder but she did not move. She did not want to give the thing a reason to attack her mother figure so she just watched. If anything she could get there in seconds if she needed to, since she had mastered her wings, but she was antsy. These crows did not feel right and she did not like that their attention was now on her human mother.

Matariel felt the tug-of-war, but she wasn't about to lose it. She forced herself through the psychic channel, probing until she could see what her opponent saw. She let loose a series of short psychic screams, meant to weaken her opponent's resolve... They should feel their skull splitting. Meanwhile, everyone in Durem without the constitution to withstand it, would suddenly get a migraine.

The bird ruffled it's feathers in annoyance for a moment. The feathers on the ground crumbling into black dust. It then looked at Ishira, opened one wing, making a point of looking at the dark wing then looked back at Ishira once more. It's head tilted to the side as it tried to figure out if she understood anything it was trying to get across.
The tug-of-war Matariel was feeling seemed to ignore the screams for several long moments before there was a tightening of it's grip. The opponent forcing back into her mind, or rather towards her mind-reading ability, it's psychic retaliation coming in the form of a projected psychic void matching and overpowering each scream. It was clearly trying to pull Matariel out of her own mind entirely.
The visions Matariel would pull out of the mind were of dots. Trillions and Trillions of small dots tightly packed together, with small red green or blue dots scattered throughout the mess. The visions might change the pattern of color distribution, but the number of dots that produced light didn't increase, only decreasing a few at a time.

The bird moved and her eyes shot right back up to it. Her eyes let out a flick of light but whether it was her inner power or a glint of the moon wasnt certain. Something stirred in her and she was sure it was the powers she had sealed and was very uneasy with the way they were reacting to this bird. As it lifted its wing, she cocked her head to the side. She knew it was trying to talk to her, in its own little way and like everyone else it was probably testing her... But if it was controlled by an enemy she knew, then this was probably just a curious crow since other than Nekos obvious release of her identity, her enemies wouldnt have even felt her near.
"I do not have wings small one, like your own they have crumbled..." She said then she continued to walk away from the birds path.

The bird let out several caws before it's wings as ishira described crumbled to dust. The entirety of the bird following this trend several moments later. The black dust scattering across the ground, seeming to blow away with far too much speed given the strange stillness in the air. Now that the crow was gone it seemed as if other animals nearby were observing Ishira now, an eerie number of the rodents normally found in the streets would be visible to one looking at their normal hiding places behind boxes, under piles of garbage, and just about any back alleyway.
The disappearance of the bird heralded the coming of another attack on Matariel's mind. There was a difference this time, without the bird nearby for Matariel to focus through the onslaught of thoughts was now coming from a much greater distance. The minds being controlled by the presence seeming to move away from the city, while those minds being manipulated still appeared here and there.

Matariel would take this opportunity to shut herself down. She folded her wings tightly around her body and fell to her knees, sobbing softly as she clenched her eyes shut and grit her teeth. She was shivering violently, and felt as if she was about to retch.

As the crow turned the dust she made sure to skip away from its path. Her eyes followed it as she walked away and only a shiver down her spine made her stop. Something was watching her... She could feel the invisible pins and needles of their stare and slowly she stopped once more to get a look around. Animals were coming out of the alley and their attention was on her. She stiffened and her insides twisted as she sucking in a breath and straightened. Crap this wasnt good....

As one of the animals started to move towards Ishira there was a shout "Die foul imitations." The shout came from a figure on one of the rooftops as several black crystal knives flew out, impaling several of the possessed animals.
The man jumped down from the rooftop, cloak billowing with the wind as he fell. He landed in a crouch, and two more knives flew out, skewering one of the birds out of the air that seemed to have been doubling back into the city. "Run! Flee! It will do you no good." As the figure stood up, running a hand through black and grey hair in a strangely familiar style it would almost seem to Ishira as if she was seeing Hex entering into a battle with one of his overly-dramatic heroic spiels... at least until the figure turned it's head, revealing the scar sealed eye. Several acid burns marred his face and hand upon closer inspection. He took several moments, glancing around the area, readying several knives. "For daring to attack me, I exterminate each and every one of you that finds itself in my path" He seemed to pay no attention to Ishira for the moment, ignoring her as he searched for the eyes which now were upon him.

Moments before the sudden soundless wave seemed to spread from the source the demon turned his head, looking off into the distance with his good eye. "What the...." the rest of his statement was cut off as all noise in the area seemed to vanish for a moment followed by a single long chime ringing out before normal sound returned to the world.
"Those fools, they'll destroy us all if they keep it up" He said, seemingly to himself, before blinking several times as his eyes fell upon Kyuu, without seeming to even notice Ishira. "You... which of those human groups were you with again"
