"Cold blooded."
The voice rose out of nowhere. Nowhere from the stairs, at least. Kalis was lounging in a booth seat set against the wall the steps were set in. He had his heavy boots, traces of steel armor showing on the toe and just out from under his pants, but the rest of his outfit had changed been exchanged for clean garb. Loose jeans, a t-shirt, and a thin vest with a few pockets. Mostly empty ones, but they were available for use.
Dark eyes watched them emerge from under tussled brown hair, and the foot of his leg laid over the booth seat twitched, attempting to mimic the rhythm of a faint sound coming from the eirpeices hanging around his shoulders. Not doing splendidly, either.
"Yesterday, he siad you were about room temperature. I don't know much about...." he stopped, and his mouth twisting as he searched for an unfamiliar word. "...metahumans." he decided. "But anyone normal would have been dead at room temperature." He didn't seem smug, nor was he giving lessons. He was speaking as much for his own benefit as theirs, and the only showing at all in the way his straight face followed Kira with just enough interest to keep his eyes falling back to the nearly empty plate on the table in front of him was curiosity.
In anycase, he'd been pondering that, and it looked like he had his answer now.
"You've been unconcious long enough to miss several meals. If it's of any matter, I don't think Owle would be bothered by giving you a free breakfast before you're on your way." he shrugged his shoulders, slowly rolling them up and back down. "But if you want to head back to the stadium, you should know we're on Gambino Island now. Long trip by foot." he watched with the blank straight face, wondering what'd come of that. He honestly wasn't sure if he expected her to curse at lacking money for a bus or sprout wings and fly away.
These people perplexed him that way. But they were intersting at least.

"Eh, mom's always cranky," Rand answered, shrugging. The littlest things, like not getting out of bed on time, seemed to set mom off. His ears perked up though, at the mention of a contest. "That'd be cool!" he exclaimed. "I'm gonna go see if mom will tell me a story before I go to sleep...she has some neat ones, and I bet she's not telling me all of them, even."
"You're not the only one looking for her," Owle would have said to Rain, last night. If pressed, she would have mentioned Vahn's name, given little explanation and asked about why he hit an injured woman on the head.
Hot chocolate would have been brewed, and Rand would have been found, given a proper meal, and sent to bed when the time came. Owle bid goodnight to Kalis, and tucked her son into bed with a quick story.
Finding Rain against Kira's door, she would have offered him a bed. She would shake her head at his refusal, as all mothers do when children refuse good advice, but left him to his choice. She was going to sleep in a nice, warm fluffy bed, and if Rain wanted sore muscles in the morning there was nothing she could do to deter him from that choice.
"Goodnight, Flare."
She whispered the words into her pillow, knowing that her sister would hear them.
Goodnight, Omikron.
She thought the words in silence, knowing that he wouldn't.

Kira momentarily froze at the voice, taking a split second to discern where it was coming from. Once her keen ears had pinpointed its location, she continued on down and paused at the foot of the stairs. Turning in the owner's direction, she quizically raised an eyebrow.
"But anyone normal would have been dead at room temperature."
"Smart and attractive. What a combination," she said, half kidding. Hands still firmly stuffed into her pockets, she took cautious, measured steps toward the new man until she was standing beside him.
"Long trip by foot."
"Then it's a good thing I have two, hm?" In a swift motion, she bent at the waist to bring a cocked ear closer to the tinny noise emanating from the piece of technology. She would definitely be trodding on the 'personal space' rule of propriety, but it wasn't something she cared much for anyway. Her face would be level with his; green eyes scanned his features from only a few inches away.
Regardless of what music was playing, she would begin to hum in tune with it before straightening once more. "I'm not one to skip out on paying for a meal. I'll find food on the way there."

"Huh? Cold blooded, you say?" he said aloud as Kira made her way to Kalis. He stayed near the top of the stairs, actually speaking to no one in particular.
"What, like some sort of lizard?" he mused aloud once again, scratching the top of his head. This time, he sounded rather skeptical, though not in total disbelief. What Kalis had just said was plausable, but well... she looked human enough. And all mammals were warm-blooded.

Kalis didn't respond at all as she spoke, watching her steadily. He did skewer a small sausage and a small remaining bit of egg on his fork and put it in his mouth as she started walking over though.
It caught him by surprise when her head shot right down near his, though he was mellowed to the point he didn't even jump.
"-hm?"
He craned his neck back, blinking a few times, though he left the rest of his body in place. Brown-ish red eyes- or red-ish brown?- followed the green orbs still as she got a good look over of a lot nothing terribly special. Features of a reserved strength, nothing that'd make him stick out in a crowd, a light complexion with just a touch of glow from time in the sun, rough stubble beginning to form of the dark hairs saying he hadn't shaven since the morning before, and a better chance to decide just what color those eyes were. It was about all the dragon-woman would get from a closer look, save maybe a scent.
When she backed up again, he watched after for a moment, implacable gaze lingering until she made her decision. He closed them just a moment, and nodded absently. "Suit yourself."
He turned back to his own food, and rounded up another bite, putting it in his mouth in a routine motion while his mind wandered off again. Confident and healthy as she seemed, there probably was nothing she was lacking so much just then. And if she was cold blooded.... and if he remembered right... then shutting down like that probably kept her expending much of any energy. In which case, she very well might not be hungry at all, much less in need of sustenance.
But he wouldn't have to tell Owle he sent the "sick woman" away without food.
"Try not to make too much a habit of hopping into brawls like that, hm?"

He was vaguely attractive-- for a human, that is. He wasn't exactly her type in the first place, not that that had stopped her before. At least she'd refrained from taking a great, deep whiff of him, nose buried in hair. That, Kira mused, always freaked people out.
"What, like some sort of lizard?"
Kira harrumphed at the comment, shooting dirty looks in Rain's general direction. Though he wasn't actually speaking to her, the comment cut; quite frankly, she was sick of being likened to "some sort of lizard" by the majority of people in this world. It was frustrating to constantly be considered sub-intelligent.
"... Where is the blue-haired woman? I would like to speak with her before I leave..." she asked, tension beginning to form across her forehead as she ignored his quip. Her memory of said person was fuzzy at best; Kira hoped such a person was real and she hadn't just been delirious.

((Owle was planning to sleep in IC... because she says she'll be gone most of the weekend. But at this point I guess we're having to wake her for Kira, so long as you won't mind waiting a day or two at some point in there; unless you can finish up before she goes.
She just said she was going to have it as an excuse not to have to post until the weekend was over, she can always just go without an excuse and apologize if it inconvinienced anyone.))

Owle was...still asleep, because yesterday had been a long day and she felt like she deserved to sleep in. The sunlight played across her face, stirring her mind to reluctant wakefulness...
The first act of the newly awakened Owle was to roll over, pull the covers up over her head, and close her eyes in a desperate attempt to fall back to sleep.
((I'm leaving Friday, around noon PST, and won't be back until Sunday night. You can wake her up if you want, but I'm not going to be around to play her. I planned to leave her asleep so that you all could continue to RP without me until I got back.
Kalis knows where Owle's room is. So does Rain, if he remembers which one she went into last night. So one of you could knock on the door.))

((I'm in no hurry. You just wanted answers while in Levi, and I'm leaving the opening for you. If anything, the boys can say Owle's sleeping in and Kira will hang around until whenever~
She wants answers, too, after all.))

If looks could kill, Rain was probably a dead man walking right now. The angry lady had just shot Rain a gaze that pierced right through his soul. It was the combination of being so unexpected and so intimidating that made Rain shield himself with three of his limbs: he scissor blocked with his left leg and arm, protecting his torso, while his right arm quickly blocked his face.
Though no attack came, Rain's body instinctively started to move backwards, since moving back with a blow significantly diminshed the force of any blow. His conscious awareness that no attack had come made him suddenly re-adjust his weight forward to compensate.
Not a good idea while you were standing on one leg at the top of the stairs.
Rain couldn't get his other leg down in time as his center of balance moved forward, his weight shifting too quickly. As he stepped into empty space, his body would pitch forward, and he began his rather audible tumble down the stairs.
THUDTHUDTHUDTHUDTHUDTHUD KA-CRASH!!!
Rain ended up upside down, his lower body curled over his top half, his legs draped over the last two stairs. His face was contorted in pain, but he only let out a muffled "OWwwwww~"

Kira simply watched Rain fall down the stairs, noting every painful thunk and bump on his descent with keen eyes and a blank face. When he'd come to halt, she strolled over. Standing beside his prone form, she looked down at him.
"That was graceful."
When he would look up at her, he would first see an open hand extended to help him back up. It would be up to him if he wanted to take it or not. It was Kira's quiet way of saying thanks for watching over her. She may have been an angry b***h, but at least she was an appreciative one.

"Ah..." Kalis watched Rain tumble blankly, not sure exactly where that had come from. He didn't get up to move right away, and by the point he might have, Kira was on her way instead. Which meant he didn't need to quit laziness quite yet.
Hope he doesn't do that all the time. He blinked. Guy'd beat himself up for the opposition. Well, most people had clumsy moments. But that'd been one funny reaction.
Or maybe Kalis was just too sluggish to regard any motion as regular yet this morning.
That was possible.
"Owle." Kalis said, the other two out of the corner of his eye as he forked up the last of his plate, and finally stood, all at once. He set the fork and cup on the plate, and carried them both back into the kitchen where he'd simply deposit them in a sink for now, before he spoke again, coming back out.
"She's still upstairs. Asleep." he cocked his head to one side a little and just continued idly watching her. "I'd rather not wake her up if it's not urgent. She's had a long couple of days, but I don't think it will be that long." He wasn't really being possesive, and not quite protective- but, well, obviously he was planning on barring anyone kicking her out of bed simply for their own convenience.
"What do you need her for?"

Skysong Moonsword "That was graceful." When he would look up at her, he would first see an open hand extended to help him back up. It would be up to him if he wanted to take it or not. It was Kira's quiet way of saying thanks for watching over her. She may have been an angry b***h, but at least she was an appreciative one. He held up one hand, not to take hold of hers, but to hold up a lone index finger. He paused to take in breath, before responding to her comment. "I'm not quite sure whether that was indominatable, unbelievable, or extraordinary." He slowly flipped his legs back over so he was lying flat once again, before taking Kira's hand to be assisted back up to his feet. Promptly dusting himself off, he nodded slightly in appreciation of the assistance. He began to nonchalantly slide closer to the bar, before adding one more comment: "For the record, I totally meant to do that." He then mock-stretched both his arms up and over his head, and to his sides; hie left hand fell behind the bar, where he was fiddling with the icebox. The shuffling of cubes could be heard, before he grabbed a handful of them and held them against his eye. "Nothing to see here, people. Move along now." he explained, making little shooing motions with the fingers of his right hand, trying to keep the left side of his face turned from any observers.

After Rain was upright, her hand made its way back into its pocket. Kira stayed put, watching him begin to tend to his wounds. Then she sighed lightly once before replying to the relaxing man.
"She knows what happened to me in the Stadium. She did something to me. I want to know what, and why." Her response was simple, flat. Though out of curiosity, she turned just enough to watch the man out of the corner of her eye.
"I remember the blue hair, then nothing. I need to know," she spoke softly, voice cracking at the last moment. Having a lapse in her memory was severely frightening; for all she knew, she'd killed someone and had no idea.

"Whatever she did, she did it inside your head-"
He watched her levelly, considering a response, never mind that he'd probably just said the most potentially upsetting part of what he could. But then, he wasn't one for intrigue in anycase. He tended to be straightforward whether he meant or not, so he might as well tie that up.
"-she only deals in minds. And she did it because you were going berserk on her friend." he wasn't sure how to explain that, but it was the simple layout. However... he rarely ever saw Owle play with people's heads at all. Beyond that, he had absolutely no knowledge of how that worked, any more than other magics. He still couldn't initiate that telepathic conversation that supposedly anyone could manage with her, after so long, just once he'd done it by sheer dumb luck and she'd been all of a foot away from him anyhow.
In anycase, Kalis understood where someone dabbling their fingers in your head could be a worry.
"I'll get her."
Before he worried the poor thing anymore with his simple explenations.
He walked right on past her, and started up the stairs slowly. He wouldn't stop her following if she wanted, but he wasn't waving her up either. It worried him a little himself, honestly, what Owle might have done to this woman. The idea that she might have done something serious. No, he trusted her far too much for that, but.... how many times had she been in his head, that she might have touched up whatever she'd liked if she'd been so inclined? He trusted her far too much for that, but, just imagining anyone else doing such a thing made him sweat.
Kalis stopped by the door, counting up the hallway to check his place, and knocked on the door lightly. Lacking any scrambling sounds that might have indicated Owle dressing- yes, she could simply phase clothes on and off, but he'd never remember that without a reminder- or a call out to wait, he'd push the door open, peeking in. "Hey, bird?"
