((hmm, since Walii has some faint relationship... a one-shot to help me bring her back in to RP.))
Walii stalked quietly along the base of a dune, hot on the trail of a hunt - when she saw the shadow of a bird fall across the sands. Twitching, she looked towards the source of the shadow.
Her jaw dropped. A bird... a lion cub? She closed her eyes and shook her head violently, then opened them, the world spinning a bit before her sight regained focus.
Nothing.
Yes, surely it was nothing...
Still, as the lioness twitched her tail and continued, she couldn't help but remember the fragile kicks against the inside of her belly... and the shadow of birds...

kijinga watched as her brother was taken by the bird. her maw dropped, she sank lowered into her spot. he's....gone....and she, the odd-ball, was never there to meet him. itwas odd, he was her brother, yet she knew nothing of him. she let out a slightly yelp as she sat, alone again, in the same spot. if....only a lion could cry, she would be....

((Insert the post just as Kavu's leaving. crying Kafara is going to be sad.
Oh, and by the way, she's going to be numb, and even quieter than before. Now, she isn't just a dreamer. She's also depressed. x.x))

Kijinga sat. now angry at herself. she had always been to caught up in her own wants...needs...that she never got the chance to go and meet her other siblings...stay...talk to them. she moved towards Moto. her eyes low, as her head too. she sat by her sister, and sighed. 'i'm sorry....that i never got the chance to play...talk.....speak with you nor my other siblings.....p...please...forgive me' and with that, she moved towards her sister, hopeing she wouldn't run. leaving her to sulk alone. she nudged her sister with her head under Moto's chin and purred softly....hopefully....hopefully she can kick her pride in the butt and get closer to her siblings...the ones she had left...

Moto accepted her sister's cuddling silently, not trusting her voice at the moment.
She hated Kwana for acting this way. Why wasn't she mourning? All odds pointed to the fact that none of them would ever see their brother again. Sure, he acted all mighty and tough, but dammit, he was their brother.
After a few long moments in silence, Motomilia spoke to Kijinga, and to Kafara if she cared to listen. "Someday I will go seek out Kavu."

She looked to her sister. suddenly backing off slowly. she knew that what moto was saying was the truth. she was detirmind. she then looked to her other siblings. and she sighed. he's gone. forever..... she turned back to Moto, eyes gleaming...'....Moto, if you go....i wish....I wish to join you...' she sat up. she was not tring to be funny, or make fun of Moto. she was truely willing to go. she wanted to see her brother. see him, talk to him. even if its for a few moments. she wants to go, and speak to him, she's been to cold, and unwanting to everyone. not letting anyone in. it was over. that, her attitude. she would change. NOW! it was time for change. she need her kin. her sisters, brothers. she pricked up her ears, and spoke once more to Moto 'i....i hate having sisters and brothers who....who can't trust, nor think of me as a cold, unwanting sister. i...i want to be close to my siblings....' she looked to the others, tring not to let them all here just yet. 'i...i truely am sorry.....' she turned her head 'and i hope...you all forgive me.' with that she turned towards her mother and nudged her side. looking up to her 'mother...i'm sorry...for leaving, having you worried....and.....i'm willing to stop...and stay with you....i.......i' the last words were studdered out of her maw. 'if that is what you want.' she then lowered her eyes. to ashamed to look into her mothers bright eyes. hopefully...hopefully her family will forgive her...for her greed.

Kavuasi followed his new companion - teacher - mentor -.... thing... silently. His head was bowed, and his tail pressed between his back legs. He slipped away from his past life, from his family, from all of it. Yet, in spite of everything he was leaving behind... something inside of him was bursting open. Something... happy. Something that coursed through him, shifting aside all of his thoughts of home, and then kicked his sadness in the rear.
Freedom! It was amazing! Look, there was the skyline! And the dunes! So many dunes...
Dunes as far as the eye could see...
Well, crap. It was just dirt. All of the outside, just a bunch of dirt. Oho, wait'll he tol-...
No, wait. He wouldn't be telling anyone. He'd just have to keep this secret to himself.
"Where're we headed?" Kavuasi asked, after they had gotten a decent ways away from the clearing. After all, there had to be some other destination... Some grand place, with more vegetation, and where the sun WASN'T beating down on your head and burning the sand underneath your feet...
((Roight, so, where're we RPing now, Dusteh? o_o Or shalt teh Kavu and teh Hestia of teh Birdies stay in Firekin desert land?))

Kwana had decided it better to just ignore her brother's comment, rather than risking a fight. She calmly turned away, but paused in step when she heard Moto speak up as well, eyes narrowing. She whirled back on her trio of younger sisters, but again paused, and soon turned away once more, padding silently into the brush of the thicket. Kavu was gone, and still everyone was fawning over him. Well fine, let them ignore her now. But as far as she was concerned, Kavu was dead. Kavu was dead, and she was heir by her own appointment, oblivious to the fact that she had been named such by Hestia. She was heir... Oh yes, let them sigh over Kavu. They would pay when she ruled.

Walii peered over the Firekin lands from atop the rocky outcrops near their dens, nostrils flaring slightly as she scented the wind.
It was bad. It was really bad. And she was trying not to panic. With only three adults remaining, the once-proud Firekin had been almost destroyed by disease. She had no idea what they should do - so, instead, they hunted. If the remnants perished, it would be boldly, and in battle - not out of starvation. Only pathetic, lesser beings starved.
"Waka. Kafara." Her voice had the snap of cold command. "We hunt. You," and she flicked her tail in Kafara's direction, "must not falter. We will leave you behind if you cannot keep up."
A lie, that last - they couldn't afford to lose any more pride members. But it sounded right.

The sharp snap of Walii's command cut through the silence. A silence left behind by death. Moving silently to stand beside Walii, Waka brushed her gaze swiftly across the land, taking note of the rather evident absence of life. The desert had never had what one would call an abundance of life, but there had been enough for the Blood to live off of. The plague had taken its toll on the herds as well.
Even hunting now had its risks. Waka was almost sure the disease had first entered the pride by Sumba eating an infected animal. Sumba had been the first to go, followed by the king, and so on. The disease was mostly gone now, but a some of it, along with the risk, lingered. It was a chance they would have to take.
Turning her vision away from the land with an almost disgusted sigh, Waka found her gaze on Kafara. The youth was barely old enough to hunt, but with Kinja in mourning over Kiu, it was another chance they would have to take. It seemed that these days, merely being one of the Blood was a chance all in itself.

Kafara didn't say a word in response to Walii's threat. She wasn't a talkative lioness by nature. She kept her mouth shut and lived in the dream world inside of her head.
Though she didn't voice her emotions, Kafara was nervous. This would be her first hunt. . . and she didn't doubt that she would be punished by Walii and Waka if she made a mistake. The pride, though small, was in desperate need of food. Kafara hadn't eaten in a long while, and her stomach constantly reminded her of this fact, empty and deflated.
Kafara wanted very much to hide from the two sharp, intense gazes that rested upon her smallish frame, but she simply shoved her nervousness to the back of her mind, somewhere into that soft, comforting world that existed only inside her head.
She padded silently to stand by Waka's side, her head bowed. She did not say anything. She would simply do as she was told, as usual.

Walii acknowledged the young lioness with a flick of one ear, tilted back towards Kafara.
"Now." Through the cool of the waning day, she peered out until she spotted a few figures milling around, not too far from the oasis. "Gembok. We go." However, before moving, she turned her head to face the others for a moment. "Normally," she growled, for Kafara's benefit, "we take the slow and sick. Today we dare not. We must also not take all of the strong in the herd, or it will die. You understand?"
Without waiting for an answer, she leapt down from the rock.edit: http://www.source.ie/photos/large/largeG/is23grikar01.jpg Gembok.

Silently agreeing with Walii's decision to not take neither the sick nor the strong, Waka leapt from the rock herself, glancing once behind her to make sure Kafara was following. There was no room for hesitation today. They would strike quickly and efficiently, like true Firekin.
Following Walii closely, Waka looked ahead of her at the horned heads of the gembok. Their numbers had obviously been dented by the plague, but from what Waka could tell, the majority of the remaining were healthy. They would still have to choose wisely.
The scent of water announcing the nearby oasis, which meant the gembok were also nearby. Turning around to give Kafara a slight look of warning, Waka took a deep breath. The kill was, hopefully, near.
((Isn't it called "gemsbok?" I've heard of gemsbok, but never gembok...*Shrug.* XD; ))

((I dunno. XD; *shrug*))
Walii flattened herself to the ground. "Follow our movements, Kafara," she hissed. "Feel the instincts, the fire in your blood, and follow them as well." She slowly stalked forward, slipping into the tall grass that clung to the meager soil surrounding the oasis.
