Miranda gets up from her bed and goes to her owl, Stardust. Miranda gently strokes Stardust's back. "Well girl, you better get used to it here. We have a big adventure ahead of us." Miranda lays back down and puts Stardust next to her. Stardust hoots softly. "Do you want to go outside?" Stardust flaps her wings excitedly. "Alright, be back by dawn." Miranda gets up again and opens the window. Stardust flies out into the dark, cold night. Miranda runs back to her bed and burries herself into her blankets.

Anneko steps nervously into the common room. The minute she sits down, a small fluffy cat the colour of toasted marshmallow is in her lap.
"Hi, Mohinder, I missed you too!" She gives him a cuddle. "I'm glad you made it to the House all right. Don't worry-- we're going to do very well in Ravenclaw. You play nice with everyone's pets!"
Mohinder blinks up at her as if to say he can make no promises with regards to pet toads, for they are fun to chase.
Anneko looks around the room, but for the time being, is too shy to approach anyone. She picks up a large book and settles into read (Mohinder settles in as well, peering at the pages). Tomorrow will be soon enough to make friends.
*yawns, finishes chapter, goes to bed*

Ari bounds into the Common Room. "Ah, hello! I'm Ari; Nice to meet you!" she says to the two people inside. "Nice pets," she says while holding out her own kitten. "This is Storm."

Miranda walks down to the Common Room and greets Anneko and Ari. "Hi! Ilike your cats. This is my owl, Stardust." Miranda has Stardust on her shoulder. "Well, it was nice meeting you two!" She walks over to the fire.

Miranda wishes that term would start. She gets out her wand. "Hey, Stardust, watch this!" Miranda points her wand at a book. "Wingardrium Leviosa!" Miranda watches with pleasure as she makes the book fly. Stardust flaps her wings with delight. "You like that, don't you?" Stardust pecks Miranda's finger. She makes the book race around the Common Room. Stardust flies after it. "Stardust!" Miranda begins to laugh as she watches her owl race around the room following the book. "OK Stardust, that's enough...before you hurt someone, or break something." Miranda stops the book with her hand and sets it down. Stardust sets herself on Miranda's shoulder and pecks at her head. "Hey! That hurts!" Miranda strokes Stardust's head. "I can't wait to go to Defense Against the Dark Arts when term starts...." Stardust races across the room retrieving a mouse. She sets it on her master's lap. "Um, you can keep it, Stardust." Stardust quickly eats it. "Good owl..."

Anneko sets down her book and smiles at her new housemates and their pets.
"It's nice to meet all of you! I'm Anneko, and this is Mohinder-- but you can call him Momo if you like."
Mohinder blinks up sleepily and purrs a little.

Miranda plays with Stardust's feathers. Stardust flies onto Miranda's head and pulls at her hair. "Stardust! That isn't nice!" Stardust flaps her wings.

Carrigan entered the Common Room with his nose buried in a book. He barely seemed to notice the other students lounging about the room and instead headed straight for the nearest unoccupied chair, muttering to himself very softly. He nearly missed sitting down the first time due to his distraction with his book, but finally settled onto the leather high back chair and folded his legs beneath him. He knew this would become a very uncomfortable position later, but for now, he was satisfied with it.

Miranda looks around and sees Carrigan. "Hi, I'm Miranda, and this is my owl, Stardust." She points at the owl on her shoulder. "I take her everywhere."

Miranda burst through the door. "HI! You're name's Miranda too! That's so cool! I've never met anyone who has the same name as me." She points twards the cat at her feet. "And this is Mina."

"Hi, stardust." She pats the owl on the head. She turns back to Miranda. "You remind me of...me! LOL Only I don't have an owl I take everywhere, I have a pencil and at least one book. It's kindof weird, I know, but if I don't have a pencil in my havd all the time, I tend to mess with things, and then they break. stressed "

Miranda laughs as she hears her say this. "Yeah, we all can be clumsy at times." She looks at Mina. "You have a really beautiful cat. I can't wait for term to start!"

Returning from the Library, Carrigan pushed into the common room with his shoulders slouched as he usually did. Nevermind that it wasn't good posture, but it radiated the sense that he was trying to avoid the attention of everyone in the room. Mind you, he was, but he didn't like it. If he could just stand more confidently, people would leave him alone just because of that.
He skirted the mass of Ravenclaw students, intending to head directly to his bed and perhaps read up on Transfiguration or something, anything that didn't have to do with Charms, but he got sidetracked by the call of a closer seat. He sunk into it in his usual fashion, curling sideways in the chair and folding his long legs beneath him. He tuned out the rest of the common room, his eyes unfocused as they slid over each student, but relentlessly analyzing them nonetheless.
He felt... drained.

Katrina walked into the common room, taking in every detail of it. She had a feeling that being a student in such a great house would be challenging and fun. She walked up to where she was told her bed would be and set down her suitcase by it. She unloaded all her things, organized them carefully, and alphabetized her seemingly endless volume of books. She looked around, a little nervous. She wondered what her first year would bring her.
She then sat on her bed, took out a thick book, and began to read it, while humming a song to herself.
