He probably meant 16 "chances" of large blast templates, and worded it badly.
Or he doesn't know the rules surprised

Tonight I was at Games Workshop with a 2000 point battle with my Tyranids. I'm either very unlucky or not very skilled, as I usually don't do much other than draw when playing against Space Marines. Tonight I tried something new: giving every psyker in the army Psychic Scream.
No warp blasts whatsoever, not that I really needed much anti-tank. Holy crap it was worth it. Not many Tyranid players seem to use/talk about this strategy at all, but I actually had Space Marines falling back off the table. That almost never seems to happen to me. Also, I actually managed to pin something with my Barbed Strangler for once!
Does anyone else use this strategy often? I can imagine it being tenfold more useful against Guardsmen, too bad I have yet to play one. It's all Space Marines and Chaos at my local GW.

What can I say? They're my favourite army. I collected them a while back before the latest incarnation and I loved the old one eye and the red terror models (I modified red terror and now its a tyrant in my army .... w00t) I love the fact that with an army of gaunts i can take down even an ork army by sheer melee killing( plus a lot and i mean a lot of lucky dice rolls)

Maybe people play sensible games with reasonable limits, and don't want to have everything and it's sock overpowered. Maybe.

-Mykal Its also probably because a box of warriors comes with only one pair of rending claws. Rending claws are better, and are definately worth the extra points, but GW doesn't want to give us enough rending claws for a squad. Thats why you usually see converted claws, or, more commonly, scything talons.

-Mykal Tyranids don't have any semblance of individuality, unlike most every other army in 40k. Every warrior can have every armament in the squad, save venom cannons and barbed stranglers. I'm just marking it off to GW being a douche, like the 19 orc warriors in a regiment box, or countless others.

im going to convert the genestealers rending claws on the warriors. with the sprue there are smaller and bigger scything talons so im going to give 2 big scything talons and small rending claws and the other one big r.c. and small s.t.. of course this means that i will have to buy another squad for some ranged power but oh well. what do you guys suggest i should give my carnifex? oh yeah the claws are only 2 points more for warriors.

Yeah, that's called the Psychic Choir. 2 Tyrants, 3 Zoans, all with Psychic Scream. Combined with plenty of Barbed Stranglers, it's a formidable force. Ender666 people rending claws are better than scything talons. You can't make a blanket statement like that. Rending claws are better in certain cases. Certainly, having a pair of rending claws is awesome on some units, like Warriors, Genestealers and Raveners. However all of these units can drop one pair of rending claws and have Claws and Talons for an extra rending attack. And on some units, rending will actually drop your effectiveness. A Carnifex or Hive Tyrant with rending claws is actually less effective than with scything talons
