A question for people to ponder. Which do people think is better; regular IG infantry armies, IG mechanized armies, or Deathworl Veteran armies?
That is completely depending on the commander and his/her respective strategies, not to mention terrain setting with the last army in mind.
Regular Guard armies (with or without Doctrines) benefit from numbers, armour support and what not.
Mechanized are more suited for open terrain, are lower in number but have more medium armoured vehicles as backing.
Death World veterans trade in their armour and lascannons (in their infantry squads) for the ability to fight and move better in jungle and woodland settings.
None is better then the other in my mind, it all depends on how the player uses the said army and the circumstances. I myself would not field a Death World army outside of a woodland / jungle terrain. Call me picky, but otherwise the troops are pretty damn worthless with their 6+ save in the open. Same with Mech. Infantry, they are not suited for city or jungle fighting and would benefit more from open terrain, where their transports can support their squads correctly. Normal infantry armies may be slower on the move and unable to cope with certain terrain types, but they can deal with most threats.
Again, these are just my thought.
